It is said that this body is the temple of your spirit. This very body is what can lead you to Self-realization. We do not know the value of the body. In material terms, the most valuable or expensive thing is the diamond. In spiritual poetry, the human body is compared to a precious diamond—one you cannot buy anywhere or borrow from someone. It is utterly unique and individual. And this diamond, if you lose it, you lose it. You have it; use it or lose it. Without this body, you can achieve nothing. You can perform karma only when you are consciously in this body. Your body, mind, intellect, consciousness, and your senses and feelings—these five together can create karma. Otherwise, it is not possible. With the astral body, you cannot create karma. For example, let's say you were dreaming and went to eat cherries. You pulled a branch down to reach them, and the branch broke. You felt sorry for that. After your dream and sleep, you wake up and go to your garden to see your cherry tree and check if the branch is broken or not. If the branch was broken, then you are capable of doing karma through your astral body as well. Otherwise, it was only a dream. This means the instrument was not functioning. The instrument—the body as an instrument—was sleeping somewhere. Therefore, for performing karma, it is very important that you are sitting in the temple made of the five elements, where body, mind, intellect, consciousness, and emotion are coordinated and doing something.
