Touch the Nature

Sleeping under the open sky connects us to nature's peace and divine energy.

Many cherish sleeping in a tent, a personal castle like a bird's nest. In some places, people sleep outdoors for most of the year by choice. While mosquitoes are a modern concern, nature offers profound rest. Workers sleep directly on the cooled earth, enjoying the breeze. Snakes are present but will not bite unless threatened; they react only to fear. Generally, animals do not attack a peaceful, calm presence, with notable exceptions. We must still be cautious around larger wildlife. Our life belongs to nature, and we find happiness within it. Being in a natural space, under a grand tree, provides strong, indescribable energy. This environment offers 24 hours of meditative energy, free from noise, allowing us to touch nature directly.

"They will not bite unless you frighten them."

"For 24 hours, we are in divine energy, meditative energy."

Many people, especially children, look forward to summer so they can sleep in a tent. A tent is your own castle—my house is my castle. Even the little bird nests in the trees, her own castle. How beautiful it is to be in nature, sleeping in a tent. You would not imagine how many Indians sleep outside. For eight, even nine months of the year. Not because they lack a house, but because they like to sleep outside—on the roof, in front of the house, in the yard. Unfortunately, mosquitoes are increasing all over the world nowadays. Many people put up a mosquito net; many don't care about it; and many apply mosquito lotion. When I was recently in India, at Jadan Āshram, we have about three to four or five hundred workers sleeping in the āshram. As Yogesh explained to us, these workers would simply lay a small towel on the field and sleep. It is very cool there—one of the best cool breezes comes because the earth cools quickly. There are many cobras walking about too, but a cobra never bites you. No snake will bite you; they may even glide over your body. They will not bite unless you frighten them and try to throw something. Then, of course, they also become frightened and may give you a "kiss"—a friendly hug. They don't have hands; they have only one tool, and that is the mouth. So no animal will attack if you are peaceful and calm, except certain animals with two legs. That's it. But of course, we must be careful of elephants, tigers, lions, and so on. Our life belongs to nature, and we are happy when in nature. Since we bought this āshram, I have been admiring and looking at these trees. But today, for the first time, I went under one particular tree. I think it covers about 200 square meters—a room inside, with beautiful branches hanging down. The strong energy and beauty of this tree are indescribable. All of this nature here—we are blessed to be here. Especially because here there is only energy according to our imagination and our need, not noise and discos and other kinds of music. For 24 hours, we are in divine energy, meditative energy. And you have an opportunity to be nearer to nature, to touch nature.
