What happens when you see the Self-Realized Saint?

The power of self-realization transcends all other attainments. A master of black magic commands spirits but cannot summon them in the presence of his self-realized disciple. The spirits, upon seeing the disciple, attain liberation. The master, confronted with this higher truth, abandons his practices. Self-realization liberates beings by mere presence. It is the ultimate knowledge, gained through humility and divine grace. All spiritual practice should aim for this freedom. Share this wisdom freely; it is a divine gift to be given, not hoarded.

"Where there is light, darkness disappears."

"Khat chod manā... Come with me, I will show you the ātmā jñān, self-realization."

There is a beautiful story from the tradition of Nārada and Viṣṇu. Another story occurred during prayer. I once asked Gurujī, "How should I speak?" Gurujī smiled and said, "Remove their doubts and fears." Gurujī tells a parable: if you tell someone, "Go and catch the tiger," only two leaves are moving. But the person who is going to catch the tiger, his soul knows what happens. So the master gives one sentence, and now you have to understand and realize it. You must do it. Very often, questions come about black magic. Very often, questions come about Tāntrik Vidyā. Vidyā means a knowledge, a perfection: black magic, white magic. There are some techniques where you can succeed against black magic also. You can do many things which, for people, are a miracle. But the end of that person’s life will be very bad. You read in the Līlā Amṛt the story of the Gunmarāmā, the magic man. If not, then you should read. Every day, read one chapter in Līlā Amṛt. As a yoga teacher and practitioner of yoga in daily life, you will get new wisdom inside every day. There was one sādhu who did not practice to get self-realization. He was practicing to get some siddhis to talk with the spirits and to have them under control. He used to order the spirits, "Go and do this, go and do that in that house," many things. I don’t want to tell you what all happens, but Holy Gurujī said Mahāprabhujī told, "Where there is light, darkness disappears." So when you have the name of Mahāprabhujī, the name of Gurudev, the mantra, all negative energy and dark forces disappear from you—as long as you are under the center of light. If you put off the light, darkness is there. So it depends on you. This sādhu, this master, was doing black magic. He had a power: he could call the spirits, and they were hajār, yes, ready. He had one disciple. This disciple went to the Himālaya and did his sādhanā. He had no desires, no siddhi, nothing—only ātmajñāna—and he got self-realization. After a long time, he came to see his master. He was very happy to see his master, and the master was very happy to see him, like a father sees a son, or a son sees a father. After a few days, the master said to his disciple, "I will show you some miraculous power. I want to give you, but you were not here for long." The disciple said, "Yes, please, Master," though he was self-realized. The higher you develop, the humbler you become. And the less you are developed in spirituality, the more arrogant you become. Ego. Ego. Arrogance. Anger, hate, jealousy, and saying, "That’s nothing. I am right." But as wise, as humble you are, that is your identification that you are divine, holy. And Sanātana Dharma is known as living Dharma. Sanātana Dharma is eternal principles, not man-made. Man-made dharmas are the teaching of every incarnation. The disciple said, "Yes, sir, bless me." About midnight, they went to the forest. The master took with him some meat, some alcohol, some blood, for this is the offering for a devil’s ceremony, for negative ceremonies where you offer something. The disciple was sitting, and the master made a circle. He said, "Don’t get out of it. Whatever happens, don’t be afraid. I’m here. They are all my servants; they are all my slaves." The disciple asked, "Who, master?" The master replied, "Just keep on looking." Then he was making some mantras, and nobody came. For two and a half hours he was calling. No one came. The master said, "Let’s go back. Today is no good constellation." He was very angry. The next day, the master went alone and again made his ceremony. After a long time, one spirit came—maybe you call it a ghost or a spirit. It said, "Yes, master, what can I do? Just I wait for your order. I can turn the whole earth or all planets. Nothing is impossible." The master was angry, "Why you didn’t come yesterday? You made me lower. I want to show my disciples. I will punish you." The spirit said, "Master, please don’t punish me." The master asked, "Where have you been? And where are all the others?" The spirit said, "Master, I was an unlucky person. I had bad karma that I was not here yesterday." "What do you mean?" "Yes, Lord. All who were here were liberated." "What? What do you mean, 'liberated because they had a darśana of your disciple'?" "Why didn’t you bring him here today, Lord? I want to be liberated. Permit me that I can see him." The master said, "Alright, go." The spirit went to the disciple and said, "I adore you, I admire you. What have you done?" The disciple said, "Master, nothing, just your divine name." Then the disciple gave a long lecture about this black magic, how much the master would suffer if he continued. Then the master gave it up and went with the disciple into the Himālaya to get self-realization. So self-realization is key to freedom, and that comes through Guru Vāsak. That’s why Mahāprabhujī said: "Khat chod manā, O my mind, give up your khata, give up your stupid will. Chal saṅg merī, toj ātmā jñān batāvat he. Come with me, I will show you the ātmā jñān, self-realization." So all that you are doing is a way to self-realization. I have designed the program in such a way for you that while living in this normal household life, still, you are doing those sādhanās which people are doing in the hills of the Himālaya. Understand and do it, and distribute it as prasād to others. Do not hesitate to speak about spirituality, about God. You got the prasād in your hands, and it is not yours. You do not lose anything if you give it further. Merā to kuch nahīṁ. Nothing is mine, O Lord. Whatever is, is yours. Yours to give you. I lose nothing. That’s it. I am happy, Lord, that you have chosen me as the channel of your love through which your divine energy, divine love, and divine mercy flow to all creatures and humans. So this prasād, divine prasād, as Yoga in Daily Life—where there are the teachings of Mahāprabhujī, Gurujī, Devapurījī, and Alagpurījī directly in your hands—now, how far you can go depends on you. Mahāprabhujī said to Gurujī, "I gave you the kingdom of the whole world." Now it depends on you how you can rule it. So I tell you also today that you got this prasāda. Give it with both hands. Don’t try to hide it.
