Follow the Ethic Principles

A spiritual discourse on the true purpose of human life and ethical conduct.

"A human should lead life with brain and heart together. When there is no coordination between them, one loses human quality."

"Be sure that God gave you human life with a particular aim... This life is a valuable diamond. Do not throw it in the dustbin; realize this."

A teacher addresses a gathering, defining authentic yoga as a holistic life of ethics and compassion, not merely physical practice. He argues that the core human mission involves cultivating intellect and heart together, emphasizing non-violence and mercy towards all creatures. Using vivid examples like raising and killing a chicken or catching a fish, he urges self-inquiry into human qualities and our divine purpose, advocating for a vegetarian lifestyle rooted in gratitude and spiritual awareness.

We are not merely physical instructors. We are not that kind of yoga teacher who practices one hour of āsana, half an hour of prāṇāyāma, and half an hour of so-called meditation without mantra or anything, then goes to have breakfast with all kinds of sausage and meat, and in the interval drinks alcohol and beer. There are some people who do only this part of yoga and eat and drink what they like, but for us, that is not yoga. That person is neither a yoga teacher nor a yoga practitioner. We care about nature. We follow and understand the ethical principles, and humans should understand this. Ethics are for humans. If a human does not follow this, the human is making a great mistake. It is very important that a human follows ethics according to their culture, tradition, and philosophy. It is a very simple thing: humans have a God-given intellect. Human intellect is very strong and can be developed greatly. Human intellect means the capacity of thinking, to find a solution, to invent something. This is human intellect—buddhi, viveka. At the same time, what a human thinks should touch the heart of the human. In the heart of the human are different feelings; every thought develops that kind of feeling in the heart. An ugly thought creates fear in your heart. A beautiful thought creates a beautiful feeling in your heart. Therefore, the human should lead life with brain and heart together. When there is no coordination between them, one loses human quality. What I do or think, I should feel. If you kill an animal to eat your food, your heart would not allow you, but your intellect says, "Oh, I like to eat meat, I will kill this animal." This means there is a gap between the heart and the brain. Such an act keeps a human far away from human qualities. It does not matter which religion, culture, philosophy, or nation. We should know that we love animals. Everyone is afraid to die. Everyone has pain. Animals cannot talk. They cannot speak the language which we speak, but they do feel in the heart. They do feel with the whole body, and they do understand what is going on. But they cannot express it; they are called mūkprāṇī, the helpless creatures. Like a handicapped person, a mentally retired person is a human, but they do not have that intellect, and we do have compassion towards them. The human heart should have compassion towards all creatures. Be sure that God gave you human life with a particular aim. Let us say if God has created a cherry tree, there must be some reason for this tree: beautiful blossoms, very nice fruits, very nice shade, and also very good wood. How many creatures are living in this tree? How many creatures are nourishing themselves from this tree? Similarly, think over: what was the purpose to create a human? What makes human life different from other creatures? What is the mission of human life, and how to fulfill the mission? As I spoke about last time, think several times a day: First, I am a human. Second, what makes me human? Third, what does it mean to be a human? Fourth, how to develop human qualities? And fifth, what is my life mission as a human? This will fulfill the aim of your birth. Otherwise, we are coming and going like other creatures. This life is a valuable diamond. Do not throw it in the dustbin; realize this. Systematically, since you came to me, I am educating you, re-educating you. For many people, it is difficult to understand because you have a different education. You have never thought about many things which I am telling you. You cannot imagine that it is like that. You cannot imagine that animals feel fear and pain and they are scared, like you humans too, but you never thought this. You thought, "Let it grow, my chicken, and when it is big and thick, I will kill it." When the chicken is growing in your garden, in your house, coming out as a beautiful baby—a very nice chicken is beautiful; it is a baby—and it is growing in your garden, in your house with you, like your family member. You take care of their food, water. You make a small house for them, protection against the heat, cold, rain. You protect them from other animals. You take care of them like a family member. And then you catch and kill it. This chicken which you are killing, looking into your eyes, may see or call you mother or father or master. The friend's eyes are saying, "What are you doing with me? This is your love from the very beginning, child; you took care of me. Was this your love, that you took care of me?" The eyes are sick, and the limbs are expressing—the legs, the wings; they try to fly away or run away. But it's caught by you. These are the meek creatures. These are helpless creatures. Human, you should have mercy towards them. When you catch a chicken to kill, you should drop your knife away and let this creature go free. It means in your life you liberated one soul; you rescued one soul. You are the savior of that soul. This you never thought. And then you kill the animal, which is like a dead body, and you go to eat that? What do you compare the human with, eating a dead body? Therefore, use the human intellect, the human heart, the human understanding and feelings. That's very important. That will make you spiritual and holy—not one hour of meditation or not only one hour repeating the name of God. The way how you live, the way how you treat the other creatures and humans—you have to be strict but correct, strict. So these are all to learn in the human life. You know, the same thing is with the fish. Fish has its kingdom; it is a water creature. We are also water creatures; we can't exist without water. Thanks to God, around our planet is a lot of water—humidity—and God has created such a beautiful atmosphere. We have above water, below water, and between only that much humidity what we need. Above is clouds, below is ocean, lake, and we are between—perfect. One should think over who is the creator and how did he manage this. Every tree's leaves have a different shape, and exactly how many scissors God has in his hands to shape the leaves of one tree. Therefore, if you don't believe in some other god, just believe and look at the beauty of nature. See the god in this nature. And fish has its own kingdom. When you catch the fish, you put the hook in its mouth. You know when something comes in our throat we are coughing and coughing. Can you imagine someone puts a hook in your mouth and then carries you? We will die immediately, I think—heart attack, die. This is the most sensitive part, which is uniting our body and head. And we pull the hook in the mouth of the fish with a trick. That's another great sin. You attract with some trick, and the poor creature comes to eat that and is caught by the hook, trying to make free but can't, and living still. And we pull it up out of the water and they take and put the hook out like this. When the doctor gives an injection and again the needle comes out, the needle is coming straight out, but we feel pain while going in and coming out. So when the hook is pulled out of the mouth of the fish, can you imagine the pain of that creature? That creature didn't die only once, but is dying every second; in every quarter second that fish is dying. Beautiful pink eyes in front of you rolling on the ground, moving mouth means telling something to you: "O human, what have I done to you? Please, be merciful, put me back in water." But we do not have the ears to hear the crying of that creature. That is the difference between human and other creatures. It is not only that I want to be healthy, I want to eat meat. Mother Nature has given different nourishment for different creatures. And meat doesn't make you healthy; we have all kinds of substances, nutrition, in different food: vegetables, fruits, grains, corn, nuts, many things, and mother's milk, the dairy products, the cows. That's why they call the holy mother cow. If they would have killed all the cows, we would not have any more milk. And when you drink milk from someone, that becomes your mother. Milk indicates the mother. From where does milk come? From mothers. A cow has to give birth to a calf, and then, in her order, the milk is produced by Mother Nature in the mother which is giving birth for the child. Those who are not mothers, still haven't got a child, you have no milk in your breast, but as soon as you will get a baby the milk will flow. So this milk is for the child, and it is a mother's milk. So cow's milk is also for the children, and when they drink her milk, they are the children, and she is a mother. So we drink the milk of the cow; she is our mother. How can we kill our mother and eat? The cow or goat or sheep or buffalo—where is the thankfulness of the human? It doesn't matter; liberation is far away. Maybe there is no God, or there is hell or no hell. Maybe everything is a fairy tale. There is hell, but we see now, in these seconds. So, what makes me human? What means to be human? I am a human. How to cultivate human qualities? And what is the mission of human life? It's very important. And for that, we have to learn to follow ethical principles. Principles? Dīp Nārāyaṇ Bhagavān kī, Dev Purījī, Mahādeva, Mādhav, Kṛṣṇa, Bhagavān kī, Sanātana. Recording location: Czech Republic, Strilky, Summer seminar
