There is Only One God

A discourse on the singular, formless nature of God and divine manifestations.

"There is only one God; there are no two Gods. That one God has no name and no form; that is called Brahman."

"Holy Gurujī said, 'One in all and all in one.' Unless we realize this, our endless journey will not end."

The speaker explains the core Vedāntic principle of one unchanging reality (Brahman) present in all atoms, contrasting it with the changing world. He discusses how formless divinity manifests into forms, citing Hindu incarnations and figures like Jesus and Buddha as enlightened beings. The talk emphasizes self-realization of the inner, unchanging Divine as the aim of human life.

There is only one God; there are no two Gods. That one God has no name and no form; that God is above all elements. That is called Brahman. That supreme power is in the entire universe. Not even a single atom is empty without Him. However, to understand this is not easy for us. If God is everywhere in every atom, then He is also in a bullet. How, then, can a bullet kill someone? This is another subject altogether. But definitely, the energy and God's presence are everywhere. Therefore, in Hinduism, it is said there is only one God. In Vedānta, it is said, "Eko Brahma Dvitīyo Nāsti." There is only one, that is God; that is Brahman. "Dvitīyo Nāsti"—where there is duality, there is change. The reality is that which will never change. Unreality is that which is changing constantly. Our body is changing. Our feelings are changing, our thoughts are changing, our behavior is changing, our actions are changing, our words are changing, our life is changing. But the Brahman within us never changes. That is the Divine, the Supreme, and that should be realized; that is our aim. All others, what we also call gods, these are manifested ones from the Nirguṇa, the formless; they come to the Saguṇa, within form. You may say Rāma, Kṛṣṇa. According to Hindu mythology, there were twenty-three incarnations, and the twenty-fourth will come now for Kali Yuga. But there were many other holy saints, millions, like Jesus, for example. Jesus is not considered a god because he said, "I am the son of God." He is a manifested one. Buddha was born as a normal prince, as Siddhārtha. He made sādhanā, and when he got enlightenment, they called him Buddha. Buddha means the enlightened one. When you are enlightened, meaning self-realized, then there is no difference between the Supreme and thyself. The difference is only the body; the differences are the elements. So we are all in the search of that one. Holy Gurujī said, "One in all and all in one." Unless we realize this, our endless journey will not end. This journey throughout the entire universe, floating on the waves of time—sometimes through light and sometimes through darkness, experiencing pleasant and unpleasant—finally, human life is the chance to come out of it.
