You can defeat unhappiness with happiness

The grace of the true Guru liberates the soul from endless cycles of birth. The Guru's pure gaze sees beyond worldly emotions. His presence carries a fragrance that devotees long for. To cross the ocean of worldly illusion, he provides the boat of satsang. Those who avoid this fellowship fall prey to the sharks of temptation—ego, knowledge, and wealth. The Guru's name is the philosopher's stone, transforming the base ignorance of the crow into the liberated purity of the swan. Our limited strength requires the Guru's word to purify negativity and face all situations with unwavering confidence.

"To cross the ocean of māyā... he brought a boat—a very big boat, a ferry—and that ferry is satsaṅg."

"Kauva se hansa banaya, Gurudev, you made the crow a beautiful swan."

Filming location: Vép, Hungary

Param Guru Swamijī, māro janam sodhārī. Sattva Guru, a beautiful bhajan composed by our beloved Lord. "Param" means the highest—the highest of the highest, Param Guru Swamijī. "Swami" means the Lord, the master, the light, or the Self. Param Guru Swamījī, māro janam sudhāryo aj. Today you made my life successful. Lak chaurasi me javata. Otherwise, I would have gone into this cycle of 8.4 million lives again and again, for many, many lifetimes. Mīr malo gyāka nenhe, the eyes are very pure. You can see it in a person’s eyes—what kind of feelings and thoughts one is looking at you with. You can see anger, hate, jealousy, complexes, sadness, trickery, greediness, many, many things. Your eye diagnosis sends everything. But Gurudev, Mahāprabhujī said, "Gurudev Gurujī, his eyes are very pure." Bhavan Chandana Sarīr. There is one kind of sandalwood called Bhavan. His body is like a beautiful sandalwood smell. His appearance brings the happiness we are waiting and waiting for. Will thou come? Will thou come? Just for once, come to me. Night and day, night and day, I look for Thee. Will my day fly away without seeing Thee, my Lord? So, bhaktas are looking forward, and when the Gurudev’s appearance is there, it brings a beautiful sandalwood fragrance. To cross the ocean of māyā, to cross the ocean of ignorance, to cross this worldly ocean for the souls, Satsaṅg, Laya Dās, he brought a boat—a very big boat, a ferry—and that ferry is satsaṅg. Satsaṅg sudāre, satsaṅg pahī, even the ignorant one can become a wise one through satsaṅg. Those who will sit in this boat of satsaṅg will be able to cross the ocean. And who will not go to satsaṅg? They fall out of the boat. Then the sharks are waiting for you—beautiful sharks. Oh, they have many, many teeth, like a razor blade, and they have very many teeth, you know. Each bite is cutting our body. The shark means the temptations in this world—many different kinds of temptations, which always take our attention away, which create the ego: knowledge, education, money, position. So many temptations. If you will not have come, Gurudev, there would have been a big tragedy. I would have had to go again and again in this charāsi. Param Guru Swamiji, Janam Sudhariya. Parīś Maṇi Gurudev hai, Guru Nām hai. The name of the Gurudev is the Parāś—that precious stone which makes iron into gold. Kauva se hansa banaya, Gurudev, you made the crow a beautiful swan. Kauva se hansa banaya. "Kauva" means the black one. Black means sin. Black means ignorance. "Hansa," white, means knowledge, liberation. The highest is the soul, the realized soul. That’s why, you know, when a small haṃsa baby is born from the real haṃsa, then he’s like this yellow color. Also, chicken babies have this yellow color. That’s the beginning—the beginning of the dawn. Dev Puruṣa Bhagavān, Dev Puruṣa Mahādeva, the Lord, the God, Dev Puruṣa. Mahāprabhujī said, "Thank you and adoration to Thee, O my Gurujī." All my work, all my wishes became true. We are very limited ones. Our approach, our strength, our thoughts, our knowledge, our experiences—they are limited. We do not have that ability. We need the extra strength, extra energy, the motivations, the Guruvākya. And that creates within us the strength which purifies the negative energy. Therefore, always try to be happy. Face unhappiness with happiness. When something negative happens and you are sad, the negative will not turn to the positive. If you have not realized anything, then everything that happens makes you sad, scared—restlessness, nervousness, many, many things. But if you express and fight all situations with confidence and energy, then nothing will happen. Like Holī Gurujī said, "Oh, it’s holy Gurujī mantra."
