In this world, there are many possibilities of taking a destructive path, yet very rare opportunities to find the spiritual or creative way. We should be constantly aware of five things and strive to realize them. First, remember several times a day: "I am a human being." This is not meant to discriminate against other creatures, but to serve as our own protection against committing negative karma. What does it mean for me to be human? What makes me human? Eating, sleeping, and procreating—animals are also very active and expert in these. If humans engage only in these activities, the difference is minimal. It is our qualities that make us human. So, we must contemplate: which qualities make a human, and which qualities make an animal? Fourth, how do we cultivate the human qualities? Finally, the fifth thought we should hold: what is the mission of human life? "Mission" does not mean a religious mission, but rather: why did the Creator give us human life? Whatever is created on this planet is not useless. So what of humans? Humans are meant to be protectors, not destroyers. Thus, our mission is God-realization, Self-realization. It is to maintain and create peace in the world, to protect other creatures and the environment. For this, we should be thankful to God every day. Every day is a blessed day. On this beautiful day—like a diamond upon a crown—we have a beautiful evening every day. But today, there is something more: our dear Gulabjī Kotharī is with us, and we welcome him most warmly. You know him personally, having met him several times here and in India. He is a very wise man, very humble, very kind, and possesses a particularly clear mind and perspective on the world. We knew his dear father, Kapūtjī Kulischi, who visited Vép several times, and we are happy that Gulabjī continues the tradition by also coming once a year. He is the owner of one of the largest Hindi-reading newspapers in India. Yes, author, owner—everything. There are many other newspapers as well; there is no country in the world with as many newspapers as India. We have more than 35 official languages and 3,045 dialects. In every aspect, India is always forward. Well, I will not speak further about India. What I wish to tell you is that his newspaper is one where you can learn many valuable, philosophical thoughts about spirituality, the Self, the mind, consciousness, and so on. One page of his newspaper is dedicated to wisdom and spiritual knowledge.
