We know well why we are here. No therapy can be compared to the movement.

A spiritual talk on health, self-mastery, and ruling one's inner kingdom.

"You are the king of your mind and senses. O my inner lord, ātmā, the Self, so you are the lord of your senses and your mind. Do not be the slave of them; they are your people."

"A great saint, a very great one, says: 'Thyself is the king of this kingdom.' Your kingdom is your whole being: your body, your senses, your emotions, mind, buddhi, intellect, memories, dreams, consciousness, words—everything."

The speaker addresses an international audience, beginning with the primary aim of health and balance. He emphasizes movement, particularly walking and yoga, and discusses diet, urging listeners to avoid being slaves to taste. The core teaching is that the true Self is the king of one's entire being—body, senses, mind, and intellect—and must rule rather than be dominated by them.

It is a great joy to see you all here from different parts of the world: Paris, London, and many other towns, cities, and countries. Last week we had wonderful programs, but there is something I did not tell you last week, and it is only for you. So be happy that you have this time for something very special. We know why we are here. Our first aim is truly to be healthy and balanced; this is primary. No nourishment, no medicine, and no therapy can be compared with movement—many different kinds of movement. Here I mean our yoga practices and walking. You can make an experiment work through your walk. It does make a difference, a great one; it brings your body back into safety and good shape. In the last five months, or four and a half months, I walked more than a thousand kilometers. Some are missing; that will be tonight, with you. So your program begins today already, with this program. Another point is that many physical problems can be overcome by increasing or reducing the diet. You should know your own physical condition. If you have minus kilos or plus kilos, the one with minus kilos should increase the diet, and the one with plus kilos should reduce it. You have to become your own doctor; this is how we can help ourselves. With eating, one should not create a religion; with eating, one should not be fanatic, because eating is very individual. But there is something which is very important: you should know what you are doing. When we speak about eating, check yourself: are you a slave? Are you a slave of your taste, of your svādhi-indriya? It is something which is not healthy for you; you know it is not healthy. You should not take it, but your svādindriya, your taste, is forcing you to eat. That is not good. A great saint, a very great one, says: "Thyself is the king of this kingdom." Your kingdom is your whole being: your body, your senses, your emotions, mind, buddhi, intellect, memories, dreams, consciousness, words—everything. You are the king of all this. The intellect is one faculty of your kingdom, like one faculty in a university, or memory, or an emotion. Different senses, different habits—all this together is a beautiful state, a country. That's it. Don't translate; I know. You are the king of it. You are the king of your mind and senses. O my inner lord, ātmā, the Self, so you are the lord of your senses and your mind. Do not be the slave of them; they are your people. You are the king, and that is very important to know. Now, if you have no control over your eating or your taste, then who is the king? You or your taste, your indriya? So the reality is that our indriyas are governing; they are dominating. Then the king is suffering. Therefore, you again, individual, only you can help yourself.
