It is said that on Guru Pūrṇimā, all devotees—even the yogīs and ṛṣis living in the astral world—come in visible and invisible forms to have Gurū darśan and to perform pūjā. There is a bhajan: Gurudev darśan dhan ho. It is a great fortune, a privilege, to have that darśan. If you cannot be present on that day, then remember wherever you are. And if you cannot even remember, then you are indeed unlucky. Wherever you are, create satsaṅg. If you have love and trust, then you will be successful. Anhonī Gurū kar sake, honī deta miṭāī. Par Brahma Gurū Dev hai, sab kus deta banāī. Anhonī Gurū kar sake—what seems impossible, Gurū Dev can make possible. Honī deta miṭāī—what is destined to happen, he can erase. Par Brahma Gurū Dev hai—for Gurū Dev is the supreme one. He can do everything. Now, we must understand Gurudev as the Gurū Tattva, the principle of the Guru, not merely the physical body. The physical body is made from the same material as your own body: the five elements, memory, feelings, eating, hunger, thirst, movement—everything. But what resides within that body is what is very important. Consider two houses or hotels. In one hotel lives your president, and in the other live ordinary people. The hotel where the president resides has high security, and in that moment, that hotel becomes very important. Similarly, in the hotel of this body, the universal president, the Lord of Lords, is incarnated or residing. God resides in every heart. But special adoration is offered to that heart in which God Himself speaks. If you know this, then be assured you will be liberated. Therefore, take Gurudev as the saviour of your life. Śrī Alakhpurījī, Śrī Devpurījī, Mahāprabhujī, and Gurujī—we are all their devotees, and we all hope that on this day they will bless us. From their holy throne, whatever is spoken comes true. This seat where I am sitting has two names: Siddhā Gaḍī, or Vyāsa Gaḍī, or Gurū Gaḍī. Vyāsa Gaḍī means the seat of Vedavyāsa. When the Śrīmad Bhāgavatam, the Vedas, or other holy books are recited, this Vyāsa Gaḍī is prepared. Whoever sits upon this seat to read, chant, and preach—it does not matter who it is—will be respected because he or she is sitting on the Vyāsa Gaḍī, the Gurū Gaḍī. It is not that the person is so important, but this holy seat is paramount. Just as whoever sits on the chair of the president will be treated as the president. So everyone has their place, and their place carries meaning. This, then, is our holy throne. This comes from our Alakhpurījī, and of course, from Śaṅkarācārya. We are all devotees. I pray to all our divine, worshipable gods to bless you with good health, happiness, and long life. May they protect us. And day by day, just as the new moon grows to become the full moon, may our spiritual sādhanā develop and may we realize completeness.
