Don't forget what you promised

A spiritual discourse on the purpose of human life and the path of Guru Bhakti.

"This life is given to us to attain Self-realization. This life is given to us to protect all creatures."

"No one is sent, realized, or attains the highest consciousness without Gurudev. Satgurū initiation is very important."

A spiritual teacher addresses a gathering, explaining the human mission of non-violence, protection of all life, and ultimate Self-realization. He emphasizes that this goal is impossible without devotion to a Guru (Guru Bhakti), citing examples from Rama and Krishna to Jesus. He admonishes listeners against wasting their precious human birth in distraction, gossip, or conflict, urging them to remember their spiritual promise and dedicate themselves to sādhanā, prayer, and satsang.

All dear brothers and sisters, this life is given to us to attain Self-realization. This life is given to us to protect all creatures. Humans understand, and humans should understand and follow non-violence. We are capable of thinking, and we are capable of understanding that life is very dear to every creature. Be a protector, and be the helper and protector of the environment. This is also a spiritual sādhanā, but besides all this, there is Guru Bhakti. No one is sent, realized, or attains the highest consciousness without Gurudev. Satgurū initiation is very important. If you think of God, Rāma, he also had a master, the Gurū, who initiated him. If we think of Kṛṣṇa, he also had a Gurū and was initiated. We are not greater than Rāma and Kṛṣṇa. Also, Jesus was baptized. He also had a Gurū. Jesus himself was a Gurū. That's why Jesus said to his disciples, "I am the way to the Holy Father." It means the Gurudev is the way to the Holy Father. Holy Father means Brahman, the Supreme. If you don't follow the Gurudev's Vākyas, then you will be suffering. Remember what you promised, remember what you said, remember what you felt during the mantra initiation, and after too. Just for a little thing, you've forgotten that, and you didn't think what consequences you will get from that. Therefore, oh human, you should know that you are a human. You should every day think, "I am a human. What makes me human?" What are the qualities of a human? How to develop the human qualities? And what is the mission of human life? Not to fight, not to be destructive. To create a happy, healthy family means to create a happy, healthy society, which means to create a happy and healthy country. And in this way, you will contribute to world peace through yoga, through Guru Bhakti, through your sādhanā. Remember this. Therefore, your being in this world is not only for sensual enjoyment, not for your karmendriyas to enjoy, not for your greediness and anger and hate and jealousy. Your physical love is very limited. But what you have in the heart, and what you promised when you came from God, "Lord, I promise, please give me the human body. Through Guru Bhakti, I will get to Brahman. Please, Lord, don't send me to the other forms of life." This was your promise. These were your conditions when your soul was descending to this planet. And the Merciful One gave you the human body. And He sent you a great divine master to guide you. But you neglected, you forgot it. Do you know what the consequences will be? What will God say to you, "My son, my child, for what I sent you into this world, and what have you been doing?" Oh human, you have the intellect to think and think. Think it over. It's no one else's business. It doesn't matter to anyone, but for you it does matter because it's your life. And in the Chaurāsīs cycle, 8.4 million different forms of life, which you suffered many times. You suffered the birth. You suffered the death. You suffered for months in your mother's womb. Oh human, open your eyes and pay your attention to Guru Bhakti and your sādhanā. You will be happy. God didn't send you here to fight. Someone was singing yesterday one bhajan beautifully, and in that bhajan it said, "You all should live happy and in harmony." Who was the foolish one? Who was the stupid one who taught us to fight? God didn't teach us to fight. Therefore, in this precious life, wake up, don't be selfish. Don't ignore your sādhanā. Make your prayers from time to time. Make your meditation from time to time. Go to the satsaṅg from time to time. Don't waste your time in front of the computer. Do you waste your time in front of the television so long? Yes, you can look. News, some about beautiful nature, is okay. But hours and hours sitting in front of the television, in front of the computer, you are killing time. That means you are not losing time; you are committing a great sin. To waste time is a great sin against time. God gave you time. Respect time. Not to be aware of time, to humiliate time, is the greatest sin, and you have to suffer for it. The consequence is that your time is gone, your chance is gone. Then you will follow and fall into the Chaurāsīs. Don't listen to gossiping. Don't go to the Kuṣaṅga. If someone tells you negative sentences, stop. Sorry. Thank you. Go out that door. I only want to do the satsaṅg. Mahāprabhujī said, "Hame hain kām satsaṅg se jagat baketu bakne de. Hame hain kām satsaṅg." Therefore, satsaṅg, my dear friend. Now, for four days we will be here in this beautiful nature. And dear brothers and sisters around the world, bhaktas, I bless you. And from time to time we will announce to you when the next lecture will be on your beautiful program. If there is satsaṅg, you can sit at the computer. That's it. If there is a satsaṅg, you can look at the television. That's okay. That's it. But just for emailing and playing games and this, what are you? Ask Kalī Gurujī. Did he sit in front of the television and look? No. Mālā. All the time, even before Gurujī went to Mahāsamādhi, his fingers were moving, though mālās were not in his hands. In New Delhi, Gurujī gave his mālā to me and said, "Mahesh, I repeated this mālā. I utilized this mālā for so many years." Tears were in his eyes, and he said, "This mālā is given by Lord Bhagavān Śrī Dīp Nārāyaṇ Mahāprabhujī himself. And I give it to you; you should use this mālā." And that mālā is on my altar. Sādhanā. About sādhanā we will speak. So you are lucky that you have a sādhanā here. So bless you and all the best. Dīp Nārāyaṇ Bhagavān Akī. Recording location: Australia, Dungog, Australian tour
