Explanation of bhajan DO DIN KA JAGA ME MELA

This world is a two-day gathering. Life is a transient play of coming and going. You accumulate sin, deceit, and vast wealth through dishonest means, yet none of it accompanies you at death. Not even a fraction of your possessions follows. Family cannot share your final journey or relieve your suffering. Why fill your bag with such futile karma? This entire worldly existence is mortal and impermanent. Renounce this play of illusion. Meditate, pray, cultivate humility and kindness, and surrender the ego. Realize nothing here is forever.

"Sab calā calī kā khelā." "Saṅg chale na ek aḍhelā."

This is a bhajan from a great saint, Brahmanandjī Mahārāj. Only one who has realized reality and truth can speak about it, and in their words, there is power. We are all his disciples. We are disciples of all great souls, all holy men, and all holy incarnations. Duality is not good; it keeps you away from reality. When you do not realize reality, a cruel nature arises within you. So Brahmanandajī said: "Do din kā jag mein melā." Mela means a coming together, a meeting, a union—like yoga or the Kumbh Mela. "Do din kā jag mein melā." Jag means this world, and this meeting is only for two days. One day was yesterday, and the second day is today. No one has seen tomorrow. Tomorrow will always be tomorrow. So this meeting is only for two days. "Sab calā calī kā khelā." This is a theater, a play of creatures coming and going, coming and going—birth and death. "Koī calā gayā, koī jāve." Someone is gone, and someone is going. How beautiful. Someone is gone, someone is just going, and someone is standing there waiting, ready to go, hitchhiking, ready and tip-top, saying, "Please take me with you." This all is a play of these creatures, of life coming and going. It is creation. "Kar pāp kapaṭ khal māyā." You did so many sins. You were a cheater. You were sinning, cheating, and doing many other things. And you collected māyā: "dhanalaka karodka māyā." You earned money, millions and billions. How did you earn it? It didn't just fall to you. You are a businessman, and if you are truly very honest, you cannot be a millionaire. The businessman is one of the best and the most prolific liars. Without lying, there is no business. That is why they say you don't get what you deserve; you get what you negotiate. But in spirituality, there is no negotiation. We don't negotiate. We just give. And to just give, we renounce. There is no negotiation. The richest are those who do not desire anything, and the poorest are those working day and night to become the world's first billionaire. This is the poorest one. "Kar pāp, kapaṭ, khal, māyā, dhan, lākhoṁ kroḍ kamāyā." Lākh means one hundred thousand, and kroḍ means ten million. "Saṅg chale na ek aḍhelā." But when you die, not even one helā—the corā, one helā, half—even half a helā will go with you. Nothing, nothing, and... nothing will go with you. Not even your beautiful hair, which you styled every day. Even this body will not go with you. This is a bitter truth, but it is like that. So Brahmanandjī said, "For what are you doing all this?" You are taking on so many bad karmas, and you know none of it will go with you. You are half saint, half cheat. "Kar, pāpa, kapaṭa, khal, māyā, dhana, lakṣa"—this is a play of creation. Your children, your wife or partner, man or woman, mother and father, your brother—none of them can help you at the end of your life. We can sit beside you, cry for you, hold your hand, take your head on our lap, and do many things, but we cannot share your pain, and we cannot follow you. So why are you filling your bags full of sin? You fight and strive for them day and night, but in the end, they are not helpful to you. They cannot help, even if they want to. All this is the play of māyā, the play of creation. Come out of this. Come out of this. Meditate, pray, be humble, be kind, be good. Kill your ego. Tomorrow, when you go for a morning walk, put your ego in the cold water of the lake. This whole world is not immortal; it is mortal. Nothing is permanent. The whole world is mortal. O my dear, sing the bhajan, meditate in the name of God, Īśvara. Brahmanandajī is telling, "Listen, my disciple." "Brahmananda kahe... sun chelā." Disciple, listen to what I am telling you. This saṁsāra is mortal; nothing is forever. Therefore, sing the bhajan of Īśvara, of Bhagavān, of Gurudev. "Brahmanand kahe, sun chelā." Brahmanand is telling, "Listen, disciples, sab chalā chalī kā khelā." This is the play of this world.
