Dharma means not religion. Dharma means to fulfill our duty, our responsibility.
Our dharma is to protect, for protection is the inherent duty of all things. Dharma means nature and responsibility; protect it, and it protects you. The primary human dharma is to be a protector of the environment, ecology, and planet. Nature is currently abused through deforestation, river pollution, and dam construction. While dams may seem beneficial, they often block natural water flow, analogous to a blocked artery causing death. In many regions with little rain, large dams centralize water, depriving the broader landscape. A better approach is constructing many small barriers to distribute water continuously. Our survival depends on this protective duty.
"dharmo rakṣita rakṣitaḥ—if you protect dharma, dharma will protect you."
"If you take an X-ray of a tree, the movement of its roots is exactly like the movement of rivers."
