Convert your attachment into Love
The path is defined by attachment (Rāga) or detachment (Vairāgya). Vairāgya, or non-attachment, is essential for spiritual progress and cannot be realized without sacred company (satsaṅg). Attachment is the root of selfishness and all suffering, creating duality where universal love should reside. A story illustrates this: two loving brothers share everything until one, unconsciously, gives a larger mango to his own son over his nephew. This subtle discrimination, born of attachment (Moha), becomes a rock on the path. Attachment breeds disappointment, pain, anger, hate, jealousy, greed, cruelty, and fear. Detachment fosters pure love, understanding, and beauty. Life is a temporary stay; only our karma and spiritual merits accompany the soul. The practice is to fix awareness on the true Self (ātmā), allowing all mental fluctuations to merge into one strength for that journey.
"Vairāgya nahi hove lāl binā satsaṅg." (Oh my dear, you cannot realize Vairāgya without satsaṅg.)
"Enter the kingdom of the Lord through the gate of sacrifice."
