Invitation to the World Peace Summit

The core teaching is to become a small flame of wisdom and peace in a world of darkness.

The message is non-duality, seeking truth to remove detrimental habits. We honor a life of simplicity and higher thought. Like the sun setting, it asks who will light the way in darkness. A single temple flame answers it will try. We cannot be the great sun, but we can be that flame. Lighting one candle is better than cursing the darkness. Many candles together create a strong light for peace. The world needs this light now.

"‘I cannot be the sun like you, but I will try to give light to show the way.’"

"When the way is dark and you can see nothing, it is better to light a candle than to stand in the darkness."

Gurujī’s message was non-duality. His message was to find the truth, to seek knowledge and true education. It was a message of non-duality aimed at removing all bad habits and detrimental traditional practices. Gurujī led a life of great simplicity and higher thought. In his honor, we hold the World Peace Summit each year. Once, Ravīndranāth Ṭhākur was walking through his garden at sunset. He saw the sun setting and said, "The sun is worrying. The sun is sad." The sun said, "My time has passed, and now the darkness of night is coming. Is there someone who can take my place to show the way in this dark night?" The sun was half below the horizon. At that moment, at a small Śiva temple, it was time for prayer. The temple bell was ringing for the ghee lamp āratī. Ravīndranāth observed this and said that a small flame spoke to the sun: "I cannot be the sun like you, but I will try to give light to show the way." Similarly, we cannot be like Gurujī, but we can be that small flame. Confucius said, "When the way is dark and you can see nothing, it is better to light a candle than to stand in the darkness." When many candles are lit, their light becomes strong. That candle symbolizes wisdom and hearts dedicated to peace. The world now needs peace. Thanks to God, you are in a country where you have peace, but this was not always so. Look at history: how many of your ancestors died in wars? How many children were left without a father? How many young women became widows? How much cruelty was there? And where are those people now? What did they take with them? It is said the whole world is one family of the one God. We must realize this oneness again. Consider how many millions of children have no access to clean water. How many families wait with all their children, without a handful of rice to eat? It is not that they have nothing, but political situations place them in such conditions. Therefore, it is very important to be part of that World Peace Summit. I believe you will all come with the other bhaktas. Invite your colleagues who may not believe in spirituality; it does not matter. At the very least, they should come for the World Peace Conference. Be a part of it. When the saints are marching, one wants to be among them, to be one of them. This peace conference is a marching of the saints. It is the holy guru’s words and his work. The one who gives the best advice and words, who brings the teaching of the holy gurus and supports this conference, is Śrī Svāmī Madhavānandī. It is good that I am telling you this, otherwise you might go to Budapest. In Budapest, it would have been too expensive for us—the halls, accommodations, and food. So we decided to be in Sombathely. Sombathely is three or four kilometers from Vip, and we will also have accommodation in Vrindavan. Come to Vape. I wish you all the best. It was nice to see you. Have a good journey, and we will see you again in Sombathé. When you come there, I will speak Hungarian. You will see, but you won’t understand.
