Patanjali's Yogasutras the Three Tapas as Obstacles
To achieve our aims, we face hidden obstacles. The wisdom of Patañjali guides us. To remove obstacles, first invoke Śrī Gaṇeśa, the remover of all barriers and lord of intellect. His grace brings perfection and wealth. He must be invited into the heart with pure devotion, not selfishness. The path also involves discipline. Patañjali warns of sufferings: mental-physical disease, harm from other beings, and natural calamities. Sin and uncontrolled breath are further obstacles. The remedy is constant practice—abhyāsa. This includes Haṭha Yoga's purification techniques and mantra repetition, leading to surrender. Only through persistent practice and divine grace can one overcome these hurdles and attain liberation.
"Gaṇapati dhyāve sadā sukh pāve." Those who meditate and worship Gaṇeśa will always be happy.
"Abhyāsaḥ, abhyāsah, kaunteya, abhyāsah." Practice, practice, practice, O son of Kuntī.
