The Master Is The Way To God
The eternal disciple-master relationship transcends physical succession. Liberation depends on disciplined living, not mere practice. A true disciple carries the work forward with purity, never becoming the guru. The master remains the eternal guide and the way to the divine. A successor sits on the master's seat but does not become the master, just as a son cannot become the father of his father. The disciple's dilemma is whom to greet first when both Guru and God appear; the answer is to honor the Guru first, for through the Guru one meets God. One must never forget one's origin. The principles of yama and niyama, ethical discipline and self-control, are essential. When the master left the body, it followed a prayer for his release from suffering, affirming the enduring spiritual bond beyond physical form.
"Liberation depends on discipline, the way of life—how you speak, how you live, how you talk."
"A disciple will never be a guru. A disciple will ever be a disciple."
