Science of Yoga
Yoga is the ancient science of body, mind, and consciousness for Self-realization. It is the balancing principle between space and cosmic consciousness. The first manifestation in the universe was the cosmic sound Oṁ, the resonance from which the five elements and all creation emerged. The human being, one of 8.4 million life forms, possesses intellect. Our true identity is the immortal ātmā, not the individual soul bound by karma. We possess five bodies, from the physical to the blissful sheath. Liberation, or Mokṣa, is achieved by dissolving individual identity to become one with Brahman. This requires transcending karma created by thought, word, wealth, and action. The human body is a microcosm of the universe, with energy channels and chakras. The Kuṇḍalinī energy rests at the base of the spine. Its awakening through discipline and purification leads to wisdom and ultimate union. Practice is essential over mere theory.
