Salutations to the cosmic light, Lord of our hearts, omniscient and omnipresent. In the divine presence of the Almighty, a very good evening, dear brothers and sisters. It is a beautiful time to be together now, because it is a time of Christmas, which reminds us, directly or indirectly, of God and spirituality. I am surprised that time goes so quickly; I was not here for more than four years. Nevertheless, I was here this summer, even if only for a few hours. Yes? Thank you. Indeed, Hungary is a very beautiful country with a beautiful culture and traditions, and it has many things that can be compared with India. India is a cradle of culture. India gave beautiful things to the whole world. India is a country of tolerance, a country of non-violence, and a country of the great sages, the ṛṣis. India is a holy country where numerous incarnations of God took place. And still, India has many things to offer to the world. Perhaps the present situation in India is not appreciable, but a country should not be judged for just a short period of time. Now is the modern way of thinking. People are running behind the materialistic life, and they begin to neglect the ancient spirituality, the heritage which our ancestors left there. And you see the result: they are not happy, even in India. But wisdom is not for one country. The Hungarians have given birth to many scientists, many who have won the Nobel Prize, and among them, Sāgittārius is very well known. But this knowledge does not belong only to one country; it belongs to the whole globe. Therefore, in Hinduism, it is said in the old scriptures, thousands of years old: the whole world is one family. The whole world is one family of one God. There cannot be two gods. There is only one God, and it is only that one creator who has created all creatures on this planet. It is only one God, or that divine consciousness, which designed this beautiful planet. It is only that one divine consciousness, or God, who has designed many different colors and colorful flowers. Every leaf of the trees, from every tree, has different leaves, different designs. Every living entity has a different form. No one can be compared with others. There are humans, animals, birds, fish, flies—many things. Every creature is different in itself. And such a beautiful human body, which only that divine creator, that heavenly architect, can produce in nine months. So, it is said: unity in diversity. And so, there is one God only, to whom we all belong. And that God is, from time to time, incarnating in different forms and different places. This is reality, and that is the ultimate truth. And if humanity would equally accept this, there would be no problems. But unfortunately, humans are creating, day by day, more conflicts and more problems. Though the world is terribly suffering now, all creatures on this planet are suffering. And you know, nowadays, there is a very famous subject: it is called environmental problems, global warming, climate change. This is the biggest threat to this planet, which is caused by humans, mostly. And by humans, I mean through their greed, through their greediness. Mahatma Gandhījī said, "Mother Earth has enough for everyone's needs, but not for everyone's greed." Our Divine Master Mahāprabhujī said, "It doesn't matter how much a human will have, there is no happiness in it." There is only happiness in knowledge—that knowledge which gives you contentment. Without contentment, without satisfaction, there is nothing. And this contentment can only come to us through wisdom, that wisdom which is given to us by our ancestors, known as the holy saints or sages. And that, in this critical situation in this world, in the form of yoga, is again here as a savior. Yoga in Daily Life is not only physical movements, it is not only the breath exercises, it is not only meditation and relaxation, but it is far beyond this; it is complete in itself. It is called paripūrṇa because it has the roots, and these roots are from the very beginning of the Himālaya, from Lord Śiva. These deep roots are there, and the divine wisdom of these yogīs and Ṛṣis who were the first humans on this planet. It is said by scientists now, the modern scientists: there are no different races. There is only one race, and that is human. Or there is only one race, which is the dogs. Or only one race, which is the cows. But in one, in the human, there are no different races. Human is a human. It is very unacceptable to fight over races. Do not make differences because of skin color. The wise one said, "We all on this planet are made out of five elements." And all we have the same color of the blood. All creatures have the same color, and this is the reality. So we all have one spirit within us, the one God within us. One in all, all in one. So there is only one race, and that is called Human. Oh human, do not make differences. And the latest study said the human race began from the peak of the Himalayas, what we call now Tibet in China. The rest part of the world was under the water or ice. And Lord Śiva is the first one. Lord Śiva, who is known as a swan, who no one has given him birth, no one has created him. He is the one who manifested himself, and from that, our roots are anchored there. Yoga in Daily Life has a spiritual lineage, a tradition to deliver and give this divine life, divine light from the master to the disciple. And so, that is what I mean by the ancient heritage. And this ancient heritage is not belonging only to one person or one country; it is for the whole world. Knowledge is knowledge. The sun which was in the Satyayuga was the same sun, and now is also the same one. Our body is changing, forms are changing, but our very inner real self is the one. On this planet, any form, in any form—liquid, whether it is water, alcohol, or juice, the humidity in the air—everything is originated from one ocean. Similarly, we all creatures on this planet originated from one God. So when we pray, according to that religion which we believe, it does not matter to which form of God you believe. It is the same God which I believe and which you believe. Differences are in form, and difference is in the time, where, when, and in which form the Supreme incarnates. We are part of the endless universe, and we have to become one with that again. Our individual karmas, our individuality, that which is disturbing us—so we should not look to the individual interest, but we should look to the universal one. The souls are individual. It is the soul which is going to the heaven; it is the soul which is going to the hell; it is the soul which is experiencing the transcendental experiences of the physical world and astral world. It is that, in the form of the soul, the individual is suffering. In this endless universe, on the waves of time, the soul is fluttering, experiencing happiness, unhappiness, light, and darkness. Suffering is not that Self; the ātmā is not suffering. It is your spirit, your soul, which is suffering. And the soul is individual; the soul is bound to the karma, or you may call it the sin, or good things, or bad things. So it is said, when you will overcome and purify your negative karmas, then you will come to enlightenment. And when you will come to enlightenment, then your individuality will be lost. It is like one drop which falls into the water; the one drop falls into the ocean and becomes one with the ocean. There is no drop anymore. So, like each and every drop of the rain comes together and unites and becomes a little creek, and it joins the river, and every river is directed towards the ocean. Why? Because the ocean is the origin of that. So every religion is that river, and we are the water in that river, and our direction is God, which brings us happiness and harmony of body, mind, and soul. Yoga can give us very perfect health. Yoga is not a theory; it is a practical path. If you practice, you will have the benefit. And if you do not practice, you will have nothing. While talking, you cannot get anything. There is one hungry person, and you show a beautiful picture of some food. This person's stomach will not be full, but it will get more appetite. The jāṭharāgni, the digestive fire, will become stronger. It means they will be more hungry. So words, pictures, and theories cannot solve the problem. Tons of theory is nothing compared with a gram of practice, and that practice is yoga. You have to practice, you have to pray, you have to meditate, you have to practice āsanas and prāṇāyāmas, you have to practice your mantra. Not just that you have a mantra, and that is all? No, no, that is nothing. One day, you have to decide to say "no" and to say "yes." There must happen something which opens our eyes. So, dear brothers and sisters, the aim of human life is to become one with God again. That is called the human mission. The difference between other creatures and humans is this: that humans have got a very good intellect. And human intellect can be developed endlessly. But that needs an instrument to be trained through education. That education, the ethic education, the education which makes a human a human, not which makes a human a thief, a criminal, or what you call a terrorist, and so on. Human life is given for God-realization. Eating, sleeping, drinking, and creating children—animals are also very active; animals are also very expert in this. Oh, man. If you are doing only this much, then where is the difference between animals and humans? And the second: humans—God sent them on this planet as a protector, not as a destroyer. So try to protect everyone, without differences, whether human or animal or any creature. Humans have understanding, and with this understanding, humans have love. That love which can feel the pain and the situation of others. That is why the human heart is more awakened than the animal heart. To feel love, to feel pain, to feel happiness—animals also have the same feelings. But to feel the suffering of others—physical, mental, emotional, social—only the human heart can understand, with the help of the intellect. So we have to coordinate both the heart and brain, and therefore, yoga is teaching us to realize our human aim. And now is the time of Christmas. It is a time of forgiveness. And so, our appreciation and love to everyone. Begin our spiritual practice. The light which you see outside, in the outer world, as a light of the Christmas decoration—this light should go within ourselves. Say to the Lord, merciful Lord, let me be your divine instrument, instrument of your love and light, that I may serve your holy creation. And wherever I come, may I bring this divine light to enlighten the hearts of all. Lord of my heart, let me be the light in darkness. Protect me from these material phobias which day by day are attacking humans. When your interest goes more towards the material, then your spirituality goes down. Jesus said, "Those shall not carry, do not carry with you anything. Believe in the holy father, where what you need, he will give you." If you make sorrows about yourself and material collection, it means you have no faith in God. In India, we say, "Who gave you the body will give also the food." It is that God who is feeding all creatures. No single creature goes sleeping hungry, except some humans, because it is their own mistake, and other humans put them in such a situation that they have nothing to eat. If we will leave nature as it is, free, every human will have enough to eat. It does not matter if it is Africa, Europe, Asia, or America. Suffering, hunger, illnesses, and fighting—this is only in humans. Humans still did not learn to live peacefully in harmony together. But now it is the time that we awake, at least now, and do something: first for our own salvation, and second for all creatures. Global problems can only be solved if all will become vegetarian. Do not kill innocent animals because of your food, so we have to think. God gave us the intellect to think. For the sake of myself, do I have to destroy something? No, we should think. We should think that others also have pain. When you kill a rabbit, you hold the rabbit and you cut the throat of the rabbit, but this beautiful pink eye of the rabbit is looking into you and saying, "Please do not do this to me. I am afraid, I am scared. I have pain. I have children. Oh, human, do not kill me." But at that time, the human heart is without mercy. That is it. It is not that you eat or not eat. It is the problem that you are breeding the animals and letting them suffer, torturing, killing, and then eating. That is wrong. Therefore, it is said in India, in Hinduism, ahiṁsā paramo dharma: Non-violence is the highest principle. If you can realize in your heart non-violence, you will be the happiest and spiritually divine person.
