Vishuddhi chakra and psychic balance

A spiritual discourse on the Viśuddhi (throat) chakra and human consciousness.

"It is our thinking which disturbs us and disturbs others. Never think like that. Accept."

"Viśuddhi Chakra is the chakra which is a beautiful, which is the chakra of liberation, which can release the tension, which can purify the poison, meaning to give good health."

A teacher leads a satsang exploring the purification and function of the Viśuddhi chakra. He explains how negative thinking, ego, and societal manipulation block this energy center, affecting health and consciousness. Using stories, such as one about a farmer's wife misinterpreting a swami's mala beads, he illustrates how perception creates suffering. The talk covers related mythology, the symbolism of the white elephant and Lord Ganesha, the connection to Shiva consciousness, and practical advice for activating the chakra through mantra, posture, and acceptance to achieve emotional change and clarity.

This weekend is dedicated to the Viśuddhi Chakra. What is this sound? Rain. Rain is nectar, nectar from the Bindu Chakra. Energy centers in our body—all energy centers in the body are good. Whatever the Creator, Mother Nature, gave in our body has a good meaning. It has a good purpose, and it is very important for our life. Every physical and mental, the subtle functions in the body are given for the well-being of the individual. Of course, the physical life, the physical functions have their limitations. Now, it is in our hands; for a certain time, we can keep it in good condition through a healthy way of life, a positive way of life. When we speak of a healthy way of life, then everything is included: the nourishment, the environment, and the mental thinking. Also, what we call our exercises—swimming, walking—so there are many possibilities to keep our system functioning properly. But still, not forever. It is given a chance to us. Within the period of a lifetime, we have the chance to realize the end of life. What is the aim of my life? Whatever is created on this planet has its meaning, has its mission, and we should try to realize that. We see here beautiful plants. Each plant has its mission to produce and to preserve the medical values. If the herbs will not have a medical effect, then the vegetation has lost its dharma. Blossoms, flowers, which have a beautiful fragrance—if there is no fragrance, then that blossom is only a blossom. It has no fulfillment of the dharma. Why don't they have a smell or fragrance? Because it is manipulated by humans, and that is why it is in imbalance. It is disturbed. We have manipulated many things in this world. To manipulate one plant is not only a harm or damage to that one plant, but the entire creation on this planet will suffer the consequences, the harmonies of that change of that plant. Similarly, in humans too, there is manipulation. And that human changes their way of thinking because they don't have proper education. They had a wrong education, wrong society. And humans have a very big greed, not only towards money, but also the greed of knowledge. Why is this like that? Why is it not like that? Can I change this? So many experiments, what we call... The gene techniques influence our entire vegetation and our food throughout the whole world. And the consequence is very bad. We all are affected by that. Hardly can we find original seeds. Hardly can we find original trees. Now we try to make olive trees so small that we can just pluck the fruits. Originally, olive trees are very big and very strong. So, all apple trees also. It is hard to see apple trees which are 100 years old. Like this, the manipulation, physical and astral, mental, affects our energy centers. And then our energy centers begin to function differently. So the chakras in the body are also affected by our way of life and way of thinking. But still, yoga has an answer, and what we call the yogīs, they were far thinkers. So yoga is designed for the well-being of all living beings here, for all creatures. And yoga is designed for well-being and achievement, the life goal of humans. Yoga was not designed as what we call nowadays some religious dogmas or techniques, but for the entire human race. So, in the beginning, yoga was very popular. And now yoga is also very popular. It will be ever popular. Many faiths came and disappeared. Many traditions disappeared. Many things just came. But yoga will not disappear. It will be there. It will help the humans. That means it is immortal. And this is the immortal message of the great saints. Now, your life is in your hands. We know it's also in the hand of God. But God said, "I gave you everything. I gave you a sustainable system. Now you should take care of it." God made us independent, and God gave us everything, but we, through our ignorance, don't understand the sense of life. And human loses the human quality, the human nature. Like a plant, a herb keeps its dharma, that quality. It is said, there are many people in the world, but rare are they who have those human qualities. And these qualities we can develop. In the beginning, human was not a complicated creature. And humans were for peace, harmony, contentment, understanding everything, but now, most uncomfortable, most disturbed, most scared, most ill. Most suffering, and most dependence on something, is dependent on the human. Look to the human condition. Does it matter in which country? Did God give us life to live life like this? Is it very painful when we see that situation, because humans got the wrong impression of life? For what we are fighting, it will not remain with you forever. Everything you have to give up. Then why do we fight? But what to do? Humans are also that kind of creature which has limitations. And if you have free will, it is limited by other powers. And so, most unhappy, most troublesome, most ill, most suffering is the human. And still, humans don't realize that we should sit together and decide not to make wars, not to take things away from others, to live for others, and be happy. But I think humans are not capable of doing this. Ego is too big. If I give up something because of others, I feel myself like a loser. I feel what a shame. I cannot show my face to anyone because I lost it. I must keep my dignity. I must keep the values of my land, my family status, and so on. Even if it costs me my life. This is something about which humans have a wrong impression within themselves. Sacrifice. Sacrifice to bring all together. But it is said, one is unhappy from all thinking. Yesterday evening I was talking about something, and many were so angry with me. Thanks to God, I have bodyguards here. They were thinking, "I'm talking for them." Yes, they are right. They are right. That man was a thief. And when the master said, "The thief's turban is burning." Quickly, the thief said, "Where are you?" So if you feel guilty, yes, it is you. Why do you feel guilty? I need not tell you in this way. I can tell you directly. But this is your thinking, and your thinking troubles you. It can create disharmony. There was a farmer, and the farmer had two small huts. Husband and wife were living in one hut, and three meters away was another hut. There came one sādhu or some swamījī and stayed there for some time. Invited, and he stayed nearly two to three months. One day, Swāmījī went to a satsaṅg one evening, and he came back at 10 o'clock. He begins to make his mantra practice, his mālā. The rudrākṣa are big. And the mālā was a little loose, the thread was a little long. So after practicing, repeating one mantra, when he crossed one bead, the bead was falling to the other bead and was making a noise like this. The lady, the farmer's wife, was listening and began to think. For three months, I have been serving this Swāmījī, giving him food, tea, milk, cloth, whatever he needs. And today he went to the satsaṅg and he brought some prasāda. And now he is counting his pieces and putting them in his bag. How many are there? How greedy Swamījī is! Even he didn't give two pieces for my son. Finished. Tomorrow, I will say, "Swamijī, sorry, but we will get another guest, hurry up." Next morning, she brought tea, and Swamiji said, "How are you?" Good. Oh my God, what is going on? He said, "Is something wrong?" She said, "Yes." She couldn't keep herself back. Swamiji, you are very greedy. Last night you brought prasad, and you didn't give even one piece to my little son. And you were counting each piece and putting it in your bag. That, I don't steal. Swamiji said, "Oh God, I think I was making a mala on a bad constellation." Then Swamiji said, "Sit down." He took his mala and was sitting like this, making mantra and making the same sound, and she was looking. She said, "It's the same sound as your prasāda." He said, "Yes, this is a divine prasād." She said, "I'm sorry for my negative thinking." It is our thinking which disturbs us and disturbs others. Never think like that. Accept. I told yesterday, accept. There is no other way. No other way. If you don't accept now, after death, you have to accept. We don't accept that we will die. It doesn't matter what God did. Now it's my life. I don't accept that I will die. Destiny says, "Wait, slowly I will show you. You have to go through." Therefore, who can accept? It means to free yourself from the prison, that inner prison which imprisons you, and you are full of fear, full of anger, and you explode like a bomb. No one is guilty for that. Only you, and you, and only you. That shows our Viśuddhi Chakra. That shows us the Viśuddhi Chakra. It holds your throat like this and blocks you. If you release your tension, if you release your ego, if you release your greediness, your Viśuddhi cakra will begin to function in a proper way. And you will have no hormonal problems. Now, here I want to tell you one thing. Many females or women, after 45 years, 50 years, by nature, they have some hormonal change. This is not because of your Viśuddhi Chakra. And not because of your negative energies. Otherwise, every woman will be angry with me tomorrow. We have a hormonal problem, and you don't understand the feminine world. Swamiji, what is your idea about that? You know, nowadays SMS comes immediately. E-mails immediately. What did you tell? So, I told you before, 10 minutes. God gave us a limitation. And within this limitation, do whatever you want to do, good or bad. After that, energy will be slowly, slowly, and function will be limited by nature. And it is a preparation to go. When the first gray hair comes, it is a message. When the first tooth begins to move, then it is a message. When the first time knees begin to hurt, and the back, it is already a message. Coming from the Supreme Court, still you don't believe? Then it will be taken away. So it's high time to begin spiritual thinking. Guru Nānak Sāhib says, "O my mind, O my self, O my mind, O my self, O my mind, O my mind, O my self, O my mind, O my mind,..." O my self, O my mind, O my mind,... O my mind. Name of God, but at least now begin. It's never too late to begin. Every step will be counted. Every breath will be counted. Every thought will be counted, so let's have good thoughts. Gandhījī said, "We don't hate the sinner." We hate the sin, but not the sinner. And therefore, who are you to make someone guilty? If then it is myself, guilty. Guru Nanak says, "I went to search for the bad things, the bad people." But I didn't find anywhere, but when I searched within me, I found it. First, I am the bad one, and then others. So when you think negative, first you are thinking negative. You are poisoning yourself first. And then you are projecting outside, "Oh, it's negative." So, develop other feelings, other eyes. So, out of 72,000 nāḍīs, there are a few nāḍīs which are very important. For example, the Vajranāḍī. Vajranāḍī influences our thyroid gland. Vajranāḍī influences our solar plexus. So when you sit in Vajrāsana, then you will see a very positive effect in your entire digestive system. And you will feel the relaxation in your throat. If you can't breathe, or you have asthma, you feel discomfort, or you feel sad, sit in Vajrāsana. Immediately, the system will be released, relaxed. The thoughts will become more clear. And that's one of the reasons, I think, why in Islam they sit for prayer in Vajrāsana. Because it gives concentration, it influences the entire chakra and nāḍī systems. Similarly, Iḍā, Piṅgalā, and Suṣumṇā. These three channels have a great meaning for us. And between these, Suṣumnā is the center. That is governing the entire Nāḍī Maṇḍala, the nerve system. And so, when the first chakra is created and put into function, then that is our Viśuddhi chakra. The Viśuddhi chakra is here, whatever you take in, mentally or physically. It influences, and here you will see what is called the moon, that half moon, where again the Śiva consciousness, the nectar, the crescent moon, new moon, and Brahmā, the Creator, and his chariot, his coach, is the white elephant. Now, these five chakras, which are human chakras from Mūlādhāra till Viśuddhi, they are mixed with animal qualities, dominating human qualities, but still there is a touch of the animal qualities. But in this chakra, such animals are shown which have a great meaning. Now, the elephant is not because it is a very big animal. It is not because it is one of the most ancient animals, but because of its quality. In Indian mythology, the elephant means prosperity. The elephant means strength. In Europe, in European culture, you say horsepower. But in Indian mythology, it's elephant power. And that's why Rāvaṇa had ten heads. Which was compared to ten elephants. So the elephant power is more than the horsepower. So the mighty is that elephant, so the energy. Now, energy means protection. And that's why God Gaṇeśa is known as the Lord of protection. Lord of the remover of all negative energy, only he can do that, and that's why symbolically he has the elephant head, and that means the protection. Vigneshwara means the Lord who destroys all obstacles. Vigna means obstacles. Ishwara means the God, that Lord which removes the obstacles. And therefore, it is scientifically proven that if you remember Gaṇeśa, all obstacles will be removed. Especially when you make some new thing, begin a new thing. When you marry, first, you have to do the Gaṇeśa pūjā. I don't know because I didn't marry, but when he was married, he can tell. Was Ganesha Pūjā done? Did you have it done, Ganesha Pūjā? You see? And when you build a house, first foundation, Earth-breaking ceremony, we call Śrī Gaṇeśa, Śrī Gaṇeśa Ayinamaha, and first pūjā, first prayer ceremony is for Gaṇeśa. And when you enter into the house, for living in the house, first you bring the Gaṇeśa inside. And we place the Gaṇeśa on the front of the door, when you open the door you see Gaṇeśa, because that blocks the negative energy. But according to the Vāstu Śāstra, your house door should not be to the south. The south is called empty. Everything, whatever you bring into your house, it will go away. North is the best, but what to do if there is no possibility? You cannot open the door in your neighbor's house, so there must be some solution. Yes, put Gaṇeśa. Finished. Everything is okay, or put in front of your house. Towards the south, a rock, that's also a symbol of Gaṇeśa. So Gaṇeśa, every time, everywhere, first is he. And if you don't remember him first, then things may go wrong. And since people gave up to believe in Gaṇeśa, a lot of divorce is taking place. So many marriages break. Those who marry, they did not marry to get divorced. They marry to be happy. And have a happy family, live healthy in harmony, but disturbances come, misunderstanding comes, and you get divorced. No one is doing divorce out of happiness, except some mental cases. Why does it happen? There must be some energy which disturbs us. And therefore, Ganesha. And that's Lord Ganesha, symbolizing the elephant. Everything from an elephant is very precious, everything, and that's why the elephant is a symbol of prosperity and richness. If you have thousands of elephants, you are a rich one. But now, where to keep the thousand elephants? Even one elephant is not possible to keep. An elephant is very loyal. And they are very correct. The master of the elephant, Maut, if he gives every day five kilos of laddū to the elephant, and one day he will give only three kilos, and the second day also three, the elephant will show him, "Where are my two kilos?" The mouth will have a hard life. They are very, very correct, the elephants. And therefore, the elephant is now white. In Mūlādhāra, it was black. In Mūlādhāra, an elephant with seven trunks. Which symbolizes seven minerals, which are for our health. But here is only a white elephant, and that is called Airāvata, his name is Airāvata. And God Kṛṣṇa said in Bhagavad Gītā, in elephants I am Airāvata. In the great saints and Siddhas, I am the Kapila Muni. Siddhānām Kapil Muni, Bhagavān Kṛṣṇa said in the Gītā. There were many, many Siddhas, but one of the great Siddhas was Kapil Muni. So, Viśuddhi Chakra is the chakra which is a beautiful, which is the chakra of liberation, which can release the tension, which can purify the poison, meaning to give good health. Many people have health problems. Let's begin with the Viśuddhi to work. There is meditation for it. There is prāṇāyāma for it. And there is kriya for it, and there are asanas for it. And there is energy. Make with your hands energy and put it here, like this, with your hand. You will feel that. When you go from the astral body, out of the physical body, your astral body goes out of the physical body through the Viśuddhi cakra. When you dream at night, your astral body goes, and your dream consciousness begins from the Viśuddhi Chakra. And it's thanks to Viśuddhi Chakra that you can come quickly back. Don't be delayed in coming back from the dream. You should be quickly coming back. You are conscious, that you are aware. And there are some people who have a problem coming out of dreams, and you are suffering in the night. There is a fire, and you want to run, but you can't run, and you are suffering. Or there is one train which is going, and now you are running to catch the train, but your legs are so heavy you can't catch it. So, like this, many things are there. This means the Vishuddhi Chakra doesn't function properly now. So we have to come to the Viśuddhi cakra to activate this energy cakra. So, Viśuddhi, which has sixteen petals. How many had anāhata? I've forgotten. How many petals has anāhata? Who doesn't know? Hands up. Thank you. How many petals does the mūlādhāra have? Who doesn't know? Hand up. My God. And Svādhiṣṭhāna, how many? Six. Mūlādhāra, four. Aha, that is one. Just look there. And Svādhiṣṭhāna and Maṇipūra, how much? Ten. Ten, which represents the ten prāṇa, five upa-prāṇa and five prāṇa. And Anāhat 12 and Viśuddhi 16. It is said, the 16 kalā. Indian mythology and the Indian science of spirituality speak about sixteen kalās. Kalā, you may say, siddhi. Kalā, you may say, abilities. And so, sixteen kalā, pūrṇapuruṣa. The Purāṇa Puruṣa, the incarnation, the complete incarnation of God, has sixteen siddhis, kalās. Like Bhagavān Rāma, Kṛṣṇa, you read in the Līlāmṛta, Mahāprabhujī had also twenty-four kalās. And a normal human can develop eight kalās, and there is in Indian philosophy sixteen vidyās. In Indian mythology, there is also sixteen knowledges, and these sixteen vidyās are here in the Viśuddhi Chakra. Developing from the Viśuddhi Chakra. And Sūla Kāla that develops from the Viśuddhi Chakra. And Kālā means also in the moon. From the dark moon, from Amāvasyā till Pūrṇimā, and again the new moon from Pūrṇimā till Amāvasyā and new moon, this is 16 days, and that's why there is a crescent moon, the half moon, and there is Brahmā and Sarasvatī, the creators. The nectar is in this chakra. So, Viśuddhi cakra, and now we will do some practice for Viśuddhi cakra. Let's see how it functions. Should we do it? The bīja mantra of the Viśuddhi cakra is "haṃ." "Haṃ haṃ" means eating. "Haṃ haṃ" means eating. But ham means I. But ham means I. So Ham means I. And so, He, God, ātmā and Paramātmā, ātmā and Paramātmā are the same. Ātmā and Paramātmā are one, the same. So, "Ham, Ham, so." I am he, and he is me. I am he, and he is me. Ātmā. Ātmā. Not the Jīvātmā. No, Jīvātmā. The Jīvā, the soul, is individual. Jīvā, the soul, is individual. But the Ātmā is universal, and the Ātmā is universal. So, Jīvā, Māyā. Jīvā is connected to the Māyā. And Ātmā is connected to Śiva. Now the Jīva has to convert or change into Śiva. Narasenarayan, from the humans to God. Brahmā is creating. Making everything. But it is the Jīva, the Viṣṇu which is maintaining, protecting. But it is the Śiva which is liberating. So the Viṣṇu Śakti has to merge into the Śiva Śakti. And therefore, the Śiva consciousness is the highest consciousness. Shivoham. Ham. What is ham? I. Ja. Shivoham. Shivoham.... Śiva, Śiva,... Śiva. Vajrayo Amar Jis Kove Don Ne Gaaya, Vajrayo Amar Jis Kove Yahi Gyan Arjun Kohari Ne Sunaya. YAHI YANA YARJUN KOHARINE What? Śivo'haṁ Śivo'haṁ. Deep Nārāyaṇa Bhagavān. Therefore, Viśuddhi Cakra is connected to the Śiva Consciousness. While traveling now from Mūlādhāra, the Kuṇḍalinī Śakti is changing, changing constantly changing, and this jīva now coming to the Viśuddhi and changing into the Śiva Svarūpa, changing to the Śiva consciousness. Then the knowledge, Pūrṇa Jñāna, pūrṇa knowledge awakes when it reaches the Ājñā Chakra. Like a butterfly comes out of its house, out of that capsule, and it begins to expand and fold its wings. Can you imagine what the feelings are when you can expand your limbs? When you are sitting in the aeroplane, in a narrow chair, you can't straighten your legs properly. You can't expand like this because of the neighbors. You are sitting like this, eating your breakfast like this. After a few hours, you have a feeling to expand. Similarly, this jīva, this jīva is closed in this māyā, in this saṃsāra, limited movements depending on the body. But when you can expand your consciousness into the freedom, then it's completely different feelings, and that is when you come to the Viśuddhi Chakra, it's completely changed now. This is the last station where you can go or fall down again. Fall down through all mistakes, through all negative thinking. Do not judge without knowing the reality someone told you. Someone brought you. No. Did you see with your own eyes? Sometimes, even when you see with your own eyes, still you are wrong. You see the difference. Because you want to see what you want to see. You don't want to see different. That's why Gandhījī said, "Be the change you want to see." And so it is that Viśuddhi Cakra will change your complete emotional level. And you, like who was closed in the bag, and you were shouting, "Prana, prana, please let me free, I want to breathe," and you come out. People who had negative experiences in life, who had to swallow bitter and sweet things, a person who, him or herself, created negative thinking, that one has problems with the thyroid. That one can many times not speak, and when some important situation comes, you can't speak. You begin to sweat; you become scared. What do you do? Breathe deep in and tell yourself, "Relax." This is the Mahā Mantra, a beautiful mantra. Tell yourself, relax, don't worry, breathe deep in. Then clarity will come, the Viśuddhi Cakra will open. It means from here the energy goes towards the brain, and also energy goes towards the body. Sometimes when you don't have pressure in the water and you open your water tap, and you are standing under the shower, and coming one drop, two drops, and you are full of shampoo, and there is no pressure. Then there is no pressure; then your pressure begins. And similarly, when the Viśuddhi cakra is not open, then the psychic pressure is there, and when the psychic pressure is there, anxiety comes out. So, deep inhale and say to yourself, "Relax, don't worry, there are many ways to." Relax. Fill the head with the shampoo, no water. Beautiful. You love shampoo. No one told you to take and put shampoo here. Now you put it here, let it be here. So, with the towel, clean your face and take the bucket, go somewhere, get the... Take water and wash it, how simple. Or take a mineral water bottle, you have nowadays everyone, and slowly, slowly clean it with mineral water. But try not to create mental pressure. Jis halme, jis chalme raho, Rām kaho, Rām kaho... Rām. Jis halme, jis chalme, in which condition and in which situation you are, say the name of God. Bez obzira u kojoj ste situaciji i pod kojim uvjetima, ponovite Božje ime. Kad god si ustrašen, moli. Kada ne vidiš izlaz, moli. To će vam dati i unutarnje vodstvo i unutarnji put. Confidence. So, deep inhale. And swallow something. That's it, or water. You know, many people are constantly chewing gum or candy. They are chewing all the time. Why? Because they feel release here in Viśuddhi Cakra. Many people who are constantly chewing either have a psychic problem, a thyroid problem, or have had negative life experiences, and that's why they are doing this. There is no satisfaction. And many people who are chewing like this constantly, they did not get mother's milk. You know, a small child has a very big consciousness and takes everything. We think many children don't know, but they know very much. Many, many things. Some people have a habit, in the night, to go to the fridge, take something out, and eat. That's called the psychic symptoms. To clean the refrigerator at night. Or always nuts. All the time, take in mouth something, missing of mother's love. Missing of mother love. You can't imagine how important it is for a small child to feel the hands of the mother and the father. And by nature, we all, when we see a small child, we would like to touch the child. No? It doesn't matter if it's your child or some other child. It doesn't matter if it's a human child or an animal. Oh, beautiful baby. What do you feel when you say, "Oh, beautiful"? Where is your consciousness? Where is your feeling of the heart? And how does this love flow into you, and how much flows? Strong vibration from your heart to this baby. Nature says the child needs this, and nature says the mother needs this. Our father needs this. When a woman gets a baby, or a mother gets a baby, then her 80% desire is fulfilled. Because her entire feelings are in this child. If the husband goes to the pub, he can go. Because her child is there, we are all lucky. We have our mother and father, or our guardian. In Zagreb, I spoke about babysitters, but mostly every babysitter is very kind to the babies. Only there are certain individual cases, because people who would like to be a babysitter, they love babies. They love a lot of them, and it is because of mother love, father love. And the generation needs love. But it's not that you don't give love because your child needs love. You love a child because you need love. It gives more back than the child receives. And if you want to know what is pure love, then make an experiment. See a small baby. Now your love for that small baby is the purest love. Like a love to God, and therefore in India we say every child is a form of Kṛṣṇa. Every child is God. They are so pure and innocent. And many, many children have no opportunity to receive enough love. Many children experience the war. Many children lost their fathers in the war. Many children lost one of their parents because of drugs and alcohol. We need a healthy generation. We need a healthy world, and let's open our Viśuddhi Chakra and our heart chakra, Anāhata Chakra, so that we can create a beautiful world.
