The Eternal Journey and the Path to Liberation

This is a spiritual discourse from a guru, blending philosophical teachings with personal reflection. "Since we became selfish, we are suffering." "What is in the universe is in this body, and what is not in this body is not in the universe." The speaker addresses a gathering, exploring the eternal journey of the soul, the struggles of Kali Yuga, and the ancient research of the ṛṣis who discovered the science of life and the dual forces within creation. He emphasizes that human life offers the unique opportunity for satsaṅg and self-realization, which leads to liberation from the cycle of karma and suffering. The talk concludes with practical advice to forgive, love, and purify internal barriers to achieve oneness with the divine.

Lord Śiva, Mount Kailāśa, Alakhpurījī, Nīlakaṇṭha Mahādeva, Mahāprabhujī, Devpurījī, Gurujī—I pray to them to bless all of us with good health, harmony, understanding, love, and long life. Just as the moon grows day by day until it becomes full, may our spirituality grow day by day. In this life, may we achieve the fulfillment of this human existence, the goal of human life, which is self-realization. The name of our holy lineage, Śrī Alakhpurījī Siddha Pīṭha, blesses you all. I am very happy to see you. It has been a long time since we met physically, after Christmas. We met very briefly in early March. But through the webcast, we meet every day. Thanks to modern technology, this is a positive development, allowing us to have satsaṅg daily. Life is a challenge, especially now in this Kali Yuga. We are struggling to survive, though we have everything—comfort, security, food—yet we are uncertain. A few hundred years ago, people did not have all this, but they were happier. So, though we have more things, we are unhappy. We didn't have so many possessions, but we had happiness. This struggle for life is not new. Our soul, our individual self, has been floating on the waves of time through the entire universe, experiencing pain and pleasure, light and darkness, love and disappointments. For many, many lives we have been struggling, sometimes in different forms of life, sometimes as humans. Thanks to those great saints, the holy ṛṣis, through their research work—which they called tapasyā, meaning hard work, heat, fire, difficulties, trying again and again—they succeeded. They found the science of life. They discovered the cause of creation in the endless universe. How did it begin? How many millions of years did it take to create the different planets? Our beautiful planet was not created from one day to the next; it took billions of years. They found the cause and the beginning. They researched and found the difficult path and the beautiful path, and they found the solution. Their perfect research work began from the very start: in the entire, endless universe, there were no stars, no planets, no solar systems, no elements, no light, no darkness. The first awakening came through the divine resonance sound, OṂ. They discovered how individual souls are created from one mother's womb, like two children born. That is the Cosmic Mother. The two children represent two forces. Which ṛṣi said, "Devī śakti and Āsurī śaktis"? Devī Śakti means spiritual energy, the God energy, and Āsurī Śakti means the negative or devilish energy, what you call satanic. And from the very beginning, there were fights, power struggles. So it’s not new. Every political party is fighting, every religion is fighting, every couple is fighting. You know much better than I the fight between husband and wife. That wife or husband would have never thought such fighting would occur; otherwise, they would not have married. Sometimes, the Asuras took over. Even what we call the Devas, or the spiritual beings, were crying, escaping, hiding from the Āsurī Śaktis. And many times, the Asuras were defeated, and they were crying and hiding. So this is the mysterious situation in the entire universe. When the ṛṣis found this, they found the same thing in humans: Yathā brahmāṇḍe tathā piṇḍe—what is in the universe is in this body, and what is not in this body is not in the universe. Finally, one planet was created, which is also known as a mortal planet, Mṛtyuloka. Whoever comes here has to go. It is the eternal law: anyone who is born has to die; anything which is created will be destroyed. This beautiful hall of our ashram in Ljubljana, where we are sitting—the engineers and workers worked hard designing and building it. When the hall was finished, its date was fixed for when it will be demolished. That’s it. Creation and destruction are like the body and its shadow, running parallel. Now, every individual is a victim of this eternal law. It’s not easy to go through; it’s painful, unbearable. We die out of pain. It doesn’t matter if you are human or animal; we are all scared. No one would like to suffer and die. But what to do? We can’t remain sitting here. You have to go home, and you know what is waiting for you. And one thing is good: we don’t know. It is said that in the womb of the future, we don’t know our destiny. Our destiny is a womb of the future, and we don’t know if it’s good or bad, if it’s a boy or a girl. Technology now, through ultrasound, can find out if it’s a boy or a girl, which is not good by spiritual law. Any kind of radiance is harmful for these very gentle cells, which are active in constructing a body. They may say it is not harmful, but I don’t trust it. That’s why, you know, how many illnesses are coming day by day. So we don’t know the mother of the future’s body, which is hidden from us. Mother and father, brothers and sisters, friends, husband and wife—we had them in every life. But now, in human life, and only in human life, we can have Gurudev. We are fortunate ones that Gurudev gives us this information and warns us about what the great saints, millions of years ago, said in Satyuga. Where is the solution? Therefore, for humans, it is satsaṅg. It means good society, good companion, good partner. Your whole village is your satsaṅg place. In the entire village, no one should be against or negative toward you, and you also should not be. Why do we create the village, and why do we create the family? To be happy, to be protected, and to share everything. Since we became selfish, we are suffering. Finally, it is said, "Know thyself," which means self-realization. As a body, a physical body, we are individual. As our soul, we are individual Jīvātmā. But as Ātmā, we are the universal one. The ṛṣi declared: Ātmā sohi Paramātmā. This Ātmā is the divine Self, the universal God. Sabhi prāṇī merī ātmā hai. Therefore, all creatures or every entity is myself, and I cannot harm myself. So, sabhi prāṇī merī ātmā hai—all entities are myself, my ātmā—and ātmā soi pramātamā—and the ātmā is the supreme one or universal one, God, one. This kind of realization is called self-realization. At that time, the prison doors are opened, and you are free forever. That prison of karma, tortured by destiny, has been playing with us for many, many years, through different lives—happiness or unhappiness. Therefore, satsaṅg. Blessed are they who can go to satsaṅg, and unhappy are they who can’t. But it is said: Tulsi, pūrv ke pāp se hari kī carcā nahīṁ svāhī, jaise jvar ke jor se bhojan kī rucī jāy. Great Tulsīdāsjī said in the holy Rāmāyaṇa: when someone has overloaded sin from a past life, then that person doesn’t like spiritual discussions and satsaṅgs. Just as when someone has a very high fever, one loses their appetite. So we have a karmic fever, and thus we have no appetite for this truth, spirituality, love, liberation. A negative person will always suffer, even if you go to satsaṅg. Mahāprabhujī said, "The spoon remains constant in pudding or in honey, but that iron spoon cannot taste the honey." Similarly, a person who has many, many lifetimes of negative energy cannot pass the test of the Divine. In one bhajan, it is said: Vīṇāmṛjān Hira Channel. Mast hūṁ maiṁ, mast hūṁ maiṁ, pī pī Rāma ras. Now I am so divine, happy, because I drink the juice of God’s name, of Rāma. Mast means divine, happy, no problems. So now I am so divine through drinking the nectar of God’s name. Bhujanskī Kar Sam Popīv Nektar Bhujanskega Imena, Moi Lage Dunyāke Sabī Ras Phīke. And all the juice of the worldly juice is for me now tasteless. So they know who have tasted this Brahma-rasa. There is amras, the juice of vegetation, fruit, mango, any kind of fruits; chamras, the physical enjoyment of the skin; and ramras, the joy of satsaṅg, bhajans, spiritual life, God’s names. And the fourth, Ātmaras, the real nectar which makes us immortal. Ātmaras comes from self-realization, from the ātmā. That is the only way, the only chance, the only solution. Otherwise, we just try to pass the time and go on, ready to be the victim of death. How it will be, we do not know. When, where, and how this body will fall on the ground and will not be able to move even a small finger—that time is fixed. How, where, that’s also fixed. But the good thing is we don’t know that, so peacefully, at least we can sleep. But don’t think that now you are human, you study, you know everything, that you will not be a victim. This all is nothing. Śrī Śrī... What I have done, you have not done: meditation and mantras. If you had done meditation and mantras, it would still have happened, but quickly finished. Hari OṂ. That’s it. So I said, "God, I surrender to Thee." Like the story of the bamboo in God’s garden. God said, "My dear Bamboo, I will cause you big pain today." And why, and so on. You know this story. So the Bamboo said, "Okay, God, here’s my arm. But please, chop it, chop it quickly, so that I don’t feel it." God said, "I will do it." So no halal, not slowly, slowly killing. That is painful. When the chapter finishes, I will come. So in this body we are here; it doesn’t matter if we are holy or not holy, if we are good people or bad, if our soul is pious or a sinner. Even if we are Jīvan Mukta, we have to leave this body. Even God himself cannot keep this body forever. So it doesn’t matter who is who. The Lord of the entire universe has to give it back one day and go. Now, you remember your childhood as far as you can. And now, this minute, from this minute till the past memory in this life, you were always trying or fighting to do something which makes you happy and will give you happiness forever—toys, study, partner, money, house, cars, anything. With this kind of thinking, "Oh, I will be happy. I like it." And do you have that happiness continuously until now? No. It is even forgotten. Many times we close the chapter of our life and begin a new chapter. Sometimes I think, when we were very small children, we were happier than now. So, for what did we study? For what were we fighting? And my husband, your husband? My wife? And so, where is that? Is there any spiritual development? No. So after this, you think. How many times in your life have you been disappointed? I’m not talking about relations only, not only about husband and wife, but many, many things. Even from yourself, you were disappointed. You thought you could do, and you would like to do, but now you can’t. When I was small, and you also—four years, five years, ten years, fifteen years—running, jumping, and I would like to jump also now and run. The feeling is there, the love is there, the wish is there, but my body says, "I am not anymore your slave; you tortured me many times. Now you are my slave. Feel me. Feel me now." Who said? The body. "Feel my knees. No?" The tooth said, "Many times you enjoyed and you used me, but now you can’t bite because I will not help." Kidneys, heart, liver, the whole body said, "Because you didn’t use me for good things, now you have to pay back all the karmas. You have to remain in me, and you will feel all that I feel." After this, Gurū Nānak said, "Final result, what is gone is gone. What remains, we shall save it." When the bullet is gone out of the gun, it will not return. When the words go out of your mouth, they will not return. When the time is past, it will not return back to you. You should know, every second you are getting older, not younger. You should know, every day you are getting one day older. Though you may do bodybuilding, or though you may take some Āyurveda, Pañcakarma, or the Kāya Kalpa to become young again—you have so many karmas, not only puṇya karmas. This puṇya is a puṇya. Don’t think, don’t dream that you will become again an 18-year-old young boy. Forget it. It was given to you. You didn’t use it. You just lost it. So whatever remains, consciously, happily live life. For whom are you fighting, tell me? Who is bad? Who is negative? Who are you to say, "I don’t like"? All that you are fighting for will remain here. Nothing will go with you. Therefore, renounce and enjoy, Mahātmā Gāndhījī said. And Holy Gurujī said, "Enter the kingdom of the Lord through the gate of sacrifice." Not only material life. In the material world, it is said: dharma, artha, kāma, and mokṣa—four things we should realize. Dharma: keep the human principles, human dharma. Artha: material means, for your comfort, and so that you are capable of helping someone. Kāma: the good karma. And mokṣa: the liberation, final. While doing all this, keep in mind liberation. If, for example, let’s say, I don’t like Sangeeta, this one, okay? I love all, but when she comes, then I am inside. This is the person. It means, for my own development towards the divine, I created within me a barrier. If I say, "I love you, Sangeeta, and forgive my mistakes, my bad thinking about you," then I am on the highway. Otherwise, you know the speed breakers, barriers? Every hundred meters, there are three barriers. So, it is you who can help yourself to be divine and develop, and it is you who can be an obstacle for your development. Therefore, till now, if you liked someone or not, if you trusted someone or not, if someone hurt you or not—physically, emotionally, mentally, socially, economically, politically—now make a saṅkalpa that you will forgive. And especially, you will love that person more. God, help me to purify these barriers so that I can be on that highway. When everything is cleared up, then the highway will disappear. Then what will be there? A runway. Take off, let’s go. We are flying above the clouds, no? We smile at the beautiful world. It is a different view, which I thought was not beautiful. But now I know it was beautiful, but I am in oneness. Sky, Ātmā, Ātmā Svarūpa. So, till today you did many things. You telephoned someone. Nowadays, you SMS someone. You sent a telegram. You were screaming, shouting. You were saying, "No, you are wrong. We don’t want this." Now, what have you gained from this? Did you get two kilos more on your body? No. Very fine nerves in the brain were suffering. And if you do continuously like this, it may become brain hemorrhage. So, renounce and enjoy. Śānta bhāva, samadarśitā—equal vision. Work, take care of your family, study, do good things in the world. God gave you 24 hours. So, take something from this as a tax paying to the government—the Cosmic Government: meditate and practice your mantra. And therefore it is said...
