Look within Yourself

A spiritual discourse on self-inquiry and inner purification, delivered during Navarātri.

"Look within thyself: how many good qualities and how many negative qualities do you have? Where is your limitation?"

"Our enemy is within ourself, and our friend is also within ourself. Whom do you support? Whom do you feed? That will become stronger."

The lecturer addresses the assembly at Śrī Gurujī’s āśram, focusing on the necessity of introspection to cultivate virtues and overcome inner enemies like greed, anger, and ego. He explains the distinction between the individual soul and the universal Self, and uses the festival of Daśaharā and a cautionary parable about two brothers destroyed by greed to illustrate how negative qualities obstruct self-realization. The talk emphasizes constant remembrance of God, selfless giving, and following the Guru's teachings to purify the heart.

Part 1: The Inner Battle: Cultivating Friends, Expelling Thieves A very good afternoon from Austria, Vienna, from Śrī Gurujī’s āśram. Welcome to all of you, Mr. President Bhaktānand. Thank you for your beautiful invitation and for offering the opportunity for this beautiful program this weekend with all the bhaktas from different countries. Many blessings to all who are listening or joining via the web. We shall continue our morning talk. It is very important for our spiritual path to look within ourselves. In yoga and daily life, this is a very powerful meditation, what we call self-inquiry. With self-inquiry, we understand two things. First, everyone thinks "self" means the ātmā. "I am the ātmā. Search your ātmā. Find the ātmā jñāna." Yes, that is the essence and that is the mission of human life: to attain self-realization or God-realization. The Self is universal, and the soul is not the Self. The soul is an individual, and the soul is involved in karma. Every individual's actions reflect on their inner ātmā, not on the soul, the jīvātmā. So, jīvātmā is individual, and ātmā, the Self, is the universal one. Now, in order to get the realization of that Self, the self-inquiry meditation means not just declaring, "Who are you? I am the Ātmā, Sat Chit Ānanda." Yes, very good, but what to do with this? How am I? How are your inner vṛttis? How are your feelings and behavior towards all creatures? How are your feelings towards your fellow persons, your neighbors, and your friends? Look within thyself, family members, how greedy you are. No one among us will accept that "I am a greedy one." No one among us will accept that we are selfish. None of us will accept that we have the ego, and none of us will say that "I am full of the Krodha Agni." Krodha Agni will destroy all your good works. Overcome the Krodha Agni through the Yoga Agni. Yoga Agni, Karma Dagdhani. Holy Gurujī often said, "Yoga Agni, Karma Dagdhani." Through the fire of the Yoga Śakti, all the seeds of karmas can be burned. But the Krodha Agni will burn all the good seeds. Therefore, search within thyself: how many good qualities and how many negative qualities do you have? Where is your limitation? How far can you go with your selfishness? How much Ahaṃkāra, how much ego, do we have? Yes, today is the day of Navarātri. Today is the Divine Mother’s day, when she will bless all the bhaktas, and she does so always. But for some people, it is necessary to know the particular time, and so today is the day of the Divine Mother. Her blessing means Satya Meva Jayate, the victory of the truth. Dharma wins always, and Adharma will lose always. Tomorrow is called Daśaharā, Daśaharā. It is believed that the King of Sri Lanka at that time was very rich. It was known as Golden Lanka. The whole city was known as a Golden Lanka, made of gold. He was a great, learned person and had many, many siddhis. But one weakness he had: that was the ego, Ahaṃkāra. And Ahaṃkāra destroyed him, his kingdom, and everything. "Daśa" means ten, "Hara" means lost, the loser. It is said that in order to become immortal, Rāvaṇa himself cut off his own head and gave it to Brahmā, saying, "Make me immortal." Again, a second head came, and like this, ten heads—ten times heads were grown on his body. It is said he was so strong, so mighty, he had the physical power of ten elephants, after which we came to speak of horsepower. Yes, now we don’t say elephant power, but at that time it was the mighty elephant. But Satya was the winner, as God Rāma was the follower of the Satya, the truth, the Dharma. Your Ahaṃkāra, your ego, your anger, your jealousy will destroy you. Our enemy is within ourself, and our friend is also within ourself. Whom do you support? Whom do you feed? That will become stronger. Our beloved Holy Gurujī used to say: Manuṣya svayam apnā mitra hai, svayam hī apnā śatru hai. The man is himself his friend, and he himself is his enemy. Achhe guṇa, the good qualities, are your friends. Ava guṇa, the bad qualities, are your enemy. So cultivate your good qualities. Then you will purify your antaḥkaraṇa. You will be able to remove the obstacles. Then you will have the self-realization, the knowledge of the Self, the universal one. Look within your inner space. Often, we think we are not greedy. You can ask me, "Swāmījī, are you greedy?" I will say, "What do you think?" Are you angry? I say, me, angry? Yes, I am angry, but not like what you call anger. Have you ego? I say, "No, I will not accept." To accept is not so easy. You need great power to excuse yourself. You need great power to accept your weakness. You are afraid, but the truth is different. Kāma, Krodha, Madha, Lobha, Moha, Ahaṁkāra: these are the five crocodiles, five enemies, five thieves, or five devils that have their permanent residence in your own phenomenon. You have rented them, and now they can destroy and do what they want with this life. Prem, Kṣamā, Dheirya, Tyāg, Tapā, Bhakti, or Jñāna—these are your best friends. And you have rented them this, your phenomenon, your house, only for a limited time. When you are sitting in the satsaṅg, you say, "Oh, I am the bhakta." Yes, now you are full of devotion, full of bhakti, full of jñāna. But after the satsaṅg finishes, you say, "Time is over, get out, empty my space." Why? Because my boss ego is waiting. That’s it. So, it is said in one dialect, a very nice poem: Rām Nām Lene Se Hoī Pāp Ko Nāś, Jaisē Āvat Jāvat Rāste Meṅ Uge Nāī Ghās. We were walking, I was walking with Holy Gurujī in Nīpal Āśram a long time ago. That time we had no boundary walls, just a little space. And there was this footpath where people would come and walk often. So we were walking on this path, and Gurujī said to me, and I still remember, "Rām nām lene se hoī pāp ko nāś, jaisē āvat jāvat rāste meṅ uge nāī ghas." While repeating the name of God, of Rāma, all your sins will be destroyed. Like when you often come and go on the same path, the grass will not grow there. You will have a clear path, so always have the name of God. Always remember, it is said those days are lost days when you didn’t remember and worship God. And those days will be counted as days for human life when you meet the holy saint or a sākṣāṅgī whose heart is for all. Give, give, give. Who can give? Who is rich? And who can’t give? Who is poor? If you have something in your pocket, you can give. But if your pocket is empty, you can’t give anything. Give love, give understanding, give forgiveness, give them way, give them their rights, support them, give to them. But if you don’t have this tendency within you, you can’t give. Hātme Kām, Mukme Rām: work in the hands and in the mouth, you have the name of God. That is a perfect combination, a perfect way of living: work, work, work. But at the same time, your inner self is also working, your svāsa, parasvāsa, ārā, urad, harināma, sumirana. Repeat the name of God, repeat your mantra. It’s not only that now you will meditate and you say, "I will not be angry anymore, I will not be jealous, I will be very divine." Yes, I believe that you are thinking this, but how will it be after? More than a year ago, two young people came to me and they said, "Swāmījī, we want to marry, can you bless us?" I said no. "Why, Gurudev? We love each other very much, and we are very happy, and really we decided, and we know now our destiny is leading us together, but Gurudev, we need your blessing." I said, "No, I will not give blessing. You can do it." Then he asked, "When will you give me your blessing?" I said, "When I see that yes, really, you love when you are there." Their love didn’t last more than a few months. Today it’s completely different. So this is emotion, emotional time. There, you should not take any decisions. Our beloved Lord Bhagavān Śrī Dīp Nārāyaṇa Mahāprabhujī said: Don’t dive to search for pearls when the ocean is very stormy, when the sea is very stormy. When there are very high waves, don’t take a risk to dive. It means your inner ocean, where the very precious pearls are hidden. But when it is only motion, then these are the high waves. You are in the motion, and you will not be able to come out anymore. Do you really feel that you are positive and that you have love? Maybe not for other people, but for my family, yes. Yes, very good, very, very good. At least to family, which is your family, my husband and my wife, I see. So, I am waiting for your golden marriage ceremony. In Kali Yuga, I think there will be very rare. It will come in the book of Janis, the golden ceremonies, oh my God, and diamond, yes, try, none of you is here. Perfect for that. None of you is fit. Hari Om. None of you. I asked him, "Swāmījī, what do you say?" After 10-15 friends, I finally found my husband. So, these were the 10 to 15 changes. That’s it already. Today, one couple came to me and said, "Swāmījī, can we marry?" I said, "What do you want to marry now? You have been together for eight years." Marriage was the first day when you came to know each other. That’s it. Now, what you do is only the formality on paper. What will you marry now? That’s it. Wait and wait and... wait. It will come. Like this morning we were singing the bhajan: Will thou come? Will thou come? Just once, come to me. Will my days fly away without seeing thee, my Lord? Night and day, night and day, I look for thee. Have you the strength? Have you the nerves that you can wait for your wife to come? Fifty years? Sixty years? If not, next time? It’s a loss of time. Waiting is a loss of time. That’s the answer. What should I do? Enough, you have to do. Meditate. As much as you will meditate and pray, the distance will become shorter and shorter. Are you sure that you love your family? There, I have a story for you. One very beautiful story, very clear but very sad. Yes, that is a picture of the world. There are also some very good stories, but that means you are dancing to others’ music. You want to become happy by listening to others’ stories? Anymore, we are not on the list of the golden jubilee ceremony, no? This life is not. We don’t like gold, no? We don’t like gold, and there is a story for the gold. That’s why. So, how much do you like gold? No, no, no. Very clever answer. Well, it is proof that the māyā can have such a big temptation that even your very dear one, you will forget it. Maya means not woman, my God. Equally, as much as man is a māyā for woman and woman is a māyā for man, this is equal, normal things. Maya can be water, maya can be fire, maya can be good weather, maya can be beach, maya can be money, maya can be house, anything. Maya is that which confuses you, takes away your good qualities, and awakens in you destructive thoughts. And so, there is a story about two brothers. Ah, brothers. Yes, brother is brother and sister is sister. But we said, if there is a brother in the world, then he should be like Bharat, the brother of God Rāma. Rama renounced everything for the sake of his brother, so that he should become the king, because the wish of the mother was this. But Bharat renounced everything, again, saying "I am not right to take the right of my brother." It is said, brother, bhai ho to Bhārat jaisā. And there is also a brother like Duryodhana in the Mahābhārata, the Pāṇḍavas and the Kauravas. They were also cousin brothers, but they made a distraction. So there were two brothers. Mostly, the sisters are more happy and protected. They feel very protected and proud of themselves when they have a brother. When the sister gets a brother, she is so happy that now she has a strong shoulder where she can lean her head in good and bad times. He is my brother, who will always protect me and stand by me in good times and bad. Proud sisters, proud. And no one dares to do something wrong to her because they know she has a very strong brother who is a bodybuilder. That’s why every boy is doing bodybuilding. For the sake of the sisters, to protect not only your own blood-related sister but all your neighbors and your village sisters. The prime duty of man is to protect the woman’s power. Both brothers were in one body, or in two bodies, like one soul. In the morning, when they got up, they didn’t leave their room without hugging each other. None of them drank morning milk without sitting together and having a glass of nice milk. None of them ate until the other brother came and they sat together to eat. Both brothers were inseparable, very positive, and very nice. Yes, this is really love, unseekable love. They were living in a place where there was no rain. Years and years, no rain. There was nothing to eat. So both brothers, they were about 30-year-old young men. Nowadays, a 30-year-old is already an old man. We don’t have that strength. Both brothers were married. Very happy. They had a very happy wife. They had a very, very harmonious, understanding relationship. As both brothers were like that, their wives were also like that. Perfect harmony in the family. Both brothers decided to go to some big village or city. At that time, there were not so many big towns, but we call them big cities. The biggest one was where maximum 500 to 1000 people, that’s all, inhabitants. They were warriors, Rajputas. They were not cowards. They were very strong and fighting for justice. They took one camel. Each of them had guns with them because the forest was very dangerous to cross. Where is the forest now? Where is the wildlife? Everything is, the human has destroyed all. They were traveling, riding on the back of a camel, going to find some big village where they could earn some money, to bring it home when they come back in two or three months. Both brothers stayed the night somewhere in the forest. One brother was awakened, the other was sleeping half the night. The other one slept, and the second one was guarding because of the animals, tigers, lions, snakes, and so on. Three nights passed. Then they were traveling further, and on the way they met one sādhu, one Swāmījī, like Vivek Purī’s, you know, a very positive man. He is never angry, you know. Even if someone shouts at him, he said, "It’s okay, you are right. Be happy. Now you shouted at me. Now you are happy. How happy I am that I make you happy. That you were angry with me and now you are happy. That’s very good. I am proud of myself to offer you as an object where you can put your anger, and you are happy. That’s it. Okay? So if someone is angry with you, then be proud of yourself. It is I who could help this person to be happy. But you should know, now you are happy because you could shout at me, but the fruits of your anger will be the thorny bushes for you, where you have to walk barefoot, without shoes. Now, this is different for you." The Swami saw these two beautiful men sitting strong, having the gun on their shoulders and a beautiful camel. And he said, "Stop, stop, stop." They saw the Sādhu. They got up from the camel and greeted him. "What can we do for you?" Sādhu said, "Don’t go on this way. Why?" Why? Because one kilometer away, a very big ghost is sitting, and it will kill you. And this ghost has killed many, many. Both brothers were warriors. "This strong, brave ghost? Swāmījī, we both have the guns with the two pipes, you know. There are double bullets that come out. The ghost, we will very soon fry it, strong like our Gyādeśwar Purī, you know, never afraid. Please, Swāmījī, you go on your way and bless us, that’s all." He said, pity. He said, "Children, it’s a pity." Swāmījī went, and they again sat on the camel, and they were riding through the forest. That’s it. What will come, we will see. Śrī Mān Nārāyaṇa Nārāyaṇa. Madhava Kṛṣṇa, Bhagavān, sanātana dharma kī cinha. Well, both brothers, they sat on the camel, and off they go. And Sādhu, Mahātma, he was moving his head like this and said, "Rām, Rām,... Rām." Well, they went. After one kilometre, there was a very beautiful small meadow, very nice, and a little lake with nice water, and what they saw were heaps of gold. Many, many,... many golden coins, they called the biscuits, golden biscuits. Well, the elder brother who was sitting in the front looked to his younger brother and said, "You see?" He said, "Yes, brother, I see. You know the selfish sādhu? He was going to get some transportation and tried to make us stupid. 'There’s a ghost sitting. Don’t go on this way.' Because he thought he would bring some transportation and take everything. But now, brother, it’s belonging to us: gold, love, love gold. In Kali Yuga, money is God." Part 2: The Parable of the Gold and the Ghost of Kali Yuga When the Kali Yuga sought to enter this world, after the Tretā and Dvāpara Yugas, it came to a king and said, "Please, can you give me a place in your kingdom?" The king replied, "No. Who are you? I have heard you are so kind, king, and you give a place to everyone. You will get a place, but who are you? Can you introduce yourself?" Kali Yuga said, "I am Kali Yuga." The king asked, "What is the speciality of the Kali Yuga?" Kali Yuga then described all that is happening now in the world: no ethics, no morals, no dayā (compassion), no kṣamā (forgiveness), nothing. The king said, "No, you cannot come to my kingdom. You have no place in my kingdom." Kali Yuga pleaded, "King, I want very little place. I will not occupy your whole kingdom." The king asked, "What is that lesser place?" Kali Yuga gave an example: "Gold." The king thought, "Oh yes, gold is very rare to see. There is no gold. Okay, be happy, be in the gold." And so, Kali Yuga entered into the gold. Now, that Kali Yuga is governing the gold, the money, the wealth, the position, the greediness, the ego, the jealousy, the hate, the cruelties, and what not. There is a story of two brothers traveling with a camel. They got off the camel and looked at some gold, hypnotized by it. Māyā māthaṅganī ham jānī re... Trigun Phas Liyakar Dole Bolat Madhuri Bani Re, Maya Mathagni Ham Jani Re. It speaks a very sweet, very sweet language. But now, if Swāmī comes, we will fry him, fire him. Both brothers sat there, with the camel, and they said to the camel, "Eat this tree, it is very nice and green, enjoy. You are a happy camel because now we will go back home." Both brothers were very hungry. The elder brother said to the youngest, "Take one gold coin. I think there is a village somewhere. Go and sell the coin and bring something to eat. I will guard this gold." The youngest brother agreed, "Yes, my brother." He took the camel, rode on its back, went to the village, and asked, "Is there a restaurant somewhere?" There was no restaurant. People said, "What?" There was no restaurant, but he asked if someone could buy something to eat. They said yes. He found someone and gave them one coin. "Is it too much?" he asked. "It doesn’t matter, you can have it all. Please make nice food." They made very nice eating: nice parathas, nice raskulas, nice sabjis—vegetarian, of course. At that time, people were mostly vegetarian. He got the food, but he was very hungry. He thought, "I will eat first myself." He sat there eating, but he saw only gold, hypnotized by it. He thought, "If I alone will have all this gold, I will be more than the king. But it is a pity; my brother will share with me half of it." Now the Kali Yuga begins to work. Now the reality from your Antaḥkaraṇa is coming out. Now you know who you are. But it doesn’t matter, my brother is my brother. We are together. And then again, he thought, "No, that’s not possible. I must have it all. But how? It’s impossible. Half belongs to my brother. My dear brother, my pran priya brother." Pran priya means the most dearest to my life. No one on this planet is so dear as my brother. Yes, but thinking again, ayasoto jaega—whose camel will go, whose born will die. One day, we have to die, brother or mother, father or sister. If not today, in 50 years he will die. So why not today? You think? He told the people who prepared the food, "You will get 20 more golden coins like this. Put the poison in the food. Then, take two grasses and hurry home." Permanent yoga nidrā. They said, "What are you saying?" He said, "Yes, yes. Five golden coins. Ten I will give you. Okay, twenty-five. Prepare quickly." Lobha. Lobha is the most terrible thing. So they prepared the food with the poison. Now he sat on the camel and was riding back. On the other side, the elderly brother was sitting and making tratak on the gold, thinking how rich he already was. "This belongs to me. But I don’t want division of this, that I only own half. Because half have to go to my brother. Well, he is my brother. He is my youngest brother. He is like my heart. He should have everything. Yes, but his children will not share with us then. Who is born will die. Yes, I know his children and his wife. I will give them some gold so they can have a good life. That’s all. I love my brother very much. But sooner or later, he has to die. Why not today?" He took his gun, cleaned it nicely, and loaded the bullets inside. "I am sure the brother will not come alert, and I need only to press one hook or button, and the brother is peacefully, he will die. I will bury him here. It is a very nice place. I will make a beautiful monument as a memory to my dear brother, and I will load the gold on the camel and go home. Announce that he died." Planning. Mental planning. You must plan something and then work out your plan—but a positive one, not like this. The other brother had a full stomach, and he thought, "I will tell my elder brother, first you eat, I will guard the gold, you know." But before he could say he was coming, the elderly brother took the gun and shot. Hari Om Tat Sat, Baaki Sab Gab Sap, Rām Nām Sat Hai, Theit Gaya Gat Hai. Basari Om. "Oh, my brother, oh my dear one," he took him in his hands and said, "How stupid I am, what I did, a great sin." He was crying a little bit. "Well, I am hungry, I cannot load the gold on my camel back. First, I shall eat, drink the water, and then peacefully I will do it." He said to the camel, "Go and graze, eat nice, gentle branches of those trees which you like." He took his food, and he was so hungry and so hypnotized by the gold, he forgot to sing "Brahma Arpanam Brahma Avi." Very nice parathas, very nice sabjis. Oh, Raskulas. One, two, and three. Finished. Within a few minutes, he died. After some hours, the sādhu came back again, going along this path, and he saw two dead bodies lying there. These were both brothers. The sādhu said, "Rām Rām. Ram. Oh God, oh God, oh God. I told them, 'This ghost has killed so many. Don’t go on this path.' They didn’t trust me, they didn’t believe me, and the ghost killed them." Now the question is this: such a loving heart, brothers, how could they go do these things? Because inside they had this greed, and this greed was the cause of the death of both brothers. Nothing will go with you in your life, whatever you think belongs to you. It is only given to you, and when you go, nothing will go with you. Only karma, good or bad. The choice is yours. Now, how you live, how you speak, how you behave toward others, that is coming back to you. These are the thorn bushes coming on your path. These are rocks coming on your path. Kindness, love, forgiveness, and giving—only a great one can do. This is such a rich food; normal people cannot digest this. When a little money or wealth begins to come, then you become so greedy. In India we used to say, in the mouth of a goat, a big pumpkin or watermelon cannot fit, because its mouth is too little. So, self-inquiry, meditation, "know who you are" means: how you are, and all these qualities, take them out. So Maṅgīlālji said in his bhajan, the devotee of Bhagavān Śrī Dīp Nārāyaṇ Mahāprabhujī, the Maṅgīlālji from Rajasthan, Harṣor: Nibhana hai, re nibhana hai, sata Gurujī kā bachan nibhana hai. Re nibhana hai, re nibhana hai, gyānī Gurujī kā bachan nibhana hai. Nibhanahe, nibha Mahāprabhujī kā vachan nibha. Follow, follow, follow the Guru Vākya. Follow the Vākyas what Mahāprabhujī spoke for us. What he said: "Kām, Krodh ko dūr hatao, tan kī khetī sāph karo, bīj Om." The greatest obstacles are kāma and krodha, passion and anger. These are both best friends to each other, not your friends; they are each other’s. Either your krodha, that is a fire, or your kāma, your passion. These both will definitely burn you, like fire will burn everything. Keep kāma and krodha at a distance. Clean the field of this body, which means the heart, everything. Like a farmer, he gets the land, and now he prepares one field to grow the crops. First, you have to chip out the thorny bushes, take away the stones and the rocks, and level the field. Then go and cultivate with the plough, and then wait. Time will come, the season. Bīj Oṃ Kā Bonā Hai. Then in this field, you should plant the seeds of the Oṃ. What will happen? Oh, your field will be beautiful, nice. The crops are grown nice and green. What happened? When the field is cleaned, the season comes, you put the seeds of the name of God, the Oṁ. Oh, very nice growth, nice, very gentle young plants. Daya dharma, that is the greenery of daya and dharma. Daya means mercy, dharma means the right righteousness. Daya and Dharma, one is there, both. What a beauty of that field! The farmer is standing there and so happy, "Oh, finally, Daya, Dharma, Hariyali, Sai." Pyaasa Marti Wo Murjai, but now they are thirsty, and these crops will die. Satguru Kumpa Bataya Bhai, Satguru Dev has shown us the water well. Where is water? Ab to nīra pilānā hai. Now you should give the water to your crops. Which kind of well did he show you? The well of wisdom and love is within thyself. Your heart is that water well where you can pump and pump. Day and night, there will be no end, because the source of your water well is God himself. Prakāś puñj amṛt ke śagar, Śrī Dīp Harī Mahādhānī hai. Saare vishwame goonj rahi Prabhu kī amar kahānī hai, Prakash puñj amrit ke shagar Śrī Deep Harī Mahādhānī hai. Dayā Dharam Hariyālī Chāyā, Pyāsā Martī Wo Murjāī. If there is no devotion, if there is no love, then your crops will die. So, stand up and walk towards that waterway, Bhakti Yoga, on the path of truth. Holy Gurujī said, "Satyapath chalana hai," we have to walk on the path of the truth. Yes, now you are giving water? Growing very beautifully. Nārāyaṇa Bhagavān ab khetī mein ne pe āyī. Very good. You were taking care. You were giving water. Now the time came for harvesting. Sab sakhīyāṅ mil toor na dhāī. All sakhīs, means all the ladies, they went to the field to harvest. Who are the Sakhīs? Your vṛttis, your indriyas, all your antakaraṇas’ functions, all your indriyas and your vṛttis, they concentrate on that field which you are harvesting. You became wise. Now you can spread the wisdom, the light of God. If you have this, otherwise the field is dried and nothing is there. Or, before seeds could come out, there are many crows, and they eat everything. Which crows, which are enemies? You are jealous. Why is this person benefiting? Why does this person have more money? Why does this person have two houses? Why does that one have three cars? Why does that one have this? Why? You can also have work. The other one was working. Jealous, very big jealous. We have no abilities, but we don’t let someone go up and become wealthy. On a ship there were two tanks, open tanks, inside were crocodiles. In one tank, there were about twenty crocodiles, and there was a net on it, and it was locked. The other one also had about 20 to 25 crocodiles, but it was open, with no net. The people who were traveling in this timber, in this steamer, were wondering why these crocodiles had the net on them. They must be very dangerous. Others have no net, but we shall ask the caretaker. And they asked the caretaker. Caretaker said, "Yes, there is a specialty of these crocodiles which have no net over." What kind of specialty? Their specialty is this: if one crocodile tries to come up, another one comes and pulls it down. Therefore, we don’t worry about anything. We are not afraid of it. That’s why we don’t need a net on it. These are the crocodiles. When one sees that another gets benefit or another is improving, we try to pull them down. Jealous, jealous... jealous. Sab sakhīyā mil ṭoṛ na dhāī. All your vṛttis, your indriyas, all went to harvest that beauty, the name of God, bhakti. Daya and dharma, now you can harvest. Nepā Iktī Karlo Bhāī, now we shall collect all this. Collect, that is not destroyed again by some other creatures. Phir to raas banānā hai. Now we have collected or harvested, but now how to bring it home? We have to make some transport, some tools, and so on. So it is said, "Ab to rās banānā hai, nibhānā hai re nibhānā hai. Satguru kā bachchan devānā, rās banāyā, māl ghar lāyā, rās banāyā. Nārāyaṇa Bhagavāne Kī Jai. Rāsa banāyā, māl ghar layā, bīcan ko bājār sidhāyā." Now we made the tools, we collected our harvesting crops, and bīcan ko bājār sidhāyā. Rāsa banāyā, māl ghar layā, you brought it home. And now you went for selling in the market. Vah par mol amolak paya. You got the price for your goods as you wish. Beyond the prize, no one can prize. What is that? Now, your sūtra, your concentration, everything, you go into the heart and you harvest your spirituality. And then, when you came home, it means that you are safe now. There is no one, no thieves are there who will run behind you. Kam, krodha, madha, lobha, moha. You are the richest one because you have that wisdom of the Lord. Vechana, kobha, jāṛ siddhaya. Now you went with your products in the market. Means go and preach, give the satsaṅg. The wisdom cannot be bought with money. The wisdom cannot be weighed with kilograms or grams, nor can it be measured with centimeters. That’s it. Besan ko bājar śidāyā vān par mol amolak pāyā, tab merā man manā hai. Now my mind, my intellect accepts, yes, it can be something like this. Who has helped me to have my crops so good? Prabhudīpā Khetī Nīpā Jai Bhol Śrī Dīp Nārāyaṇ Bhagavān Kī Jai, Satguru Svāmī Madhavānandjī Gurudeva Kī Jai, Deveśvara Mahādeva Kī Jai, Maṅgīlāljī Mahārāj Kī Jai, Satya Sanātana Dharma Kī Jai, Prabhu Dīpa Khetī Nīpa Jai, Bhagavān Śrī Dīp Nārāyaṇ Mahāprabhujī, he who made my crops to grow and be so nice. Mangilājī said, "Now I am happy." Birla Shant Jan Mehram Pai, there are very rare saints who can understand Mehar. Mehar means the Guru’s Kripa. Very few can understand what is Gurudev Kī Kṛpā. It’s not easy to understand. Sometimes Gurudev is angry. And you say, "Oh, I thought the Master is never angry." Yes. Even the master is angry. When he is more angry than the disciple, he is more happy because now his kṛpā is very much on me. That is, Mahāprabhujī said, "Satguru khaṛā hai so mīṭhā, Satguru khaṛā hai so mīṭhā." Satguru Dev, if you think he is very bitter, but as bitter he is, that is the sweetest one. As angry as he is, he is the loving one. So, Mehram Janī, they are very rare Mahāpuruṣas, great souls, great ātmās, great saints. Who can understand the Gurudev’s kṛpā? Avadhūta rūp pehchānī hai. They can get self-realization of their self. Avadhūta rūpa ha. So if you remember, yesterday we spoke about Rūpa, Svarūpa, and Kaurūpa. This was this morning, no? This morning. The Rūpa, Svarūpa, Avadhūta Rūpa, that is that, what Ātmā, the Self, the Divine. Therefore, practicing yoga and practicing yoga in daily life are a great difference. To understand yoga and daily life. And now, begin to water your inner fields, your inner crops, and take care that some other bugs, other things, don’t destroy them. Those bugs: it’s mine, it’s there, it’s hers. Why is this person standing here? Why is he sitting here, Swamiji? Why not me? Oh my God! Sometimes, some people came with Gurujī, very nice, with a tie and modern life in India, you know. That was the fashion to have pants and a shirt and a nice coat and tie. And Holy Gurujī said to Mahāprabhujī, "This is a very high position, this person." And so Mahāprabhujī said to Holy Gurujī, "Why do you bring me all these stinky people?" But then, phūṭā huā, the pot which is already broken. Gurujī said, "But Lord, they are very clean and very nice." They said, "No, no, outside. Inside they are stinky." They have so many complexes: so much greediness, so much desire, so much anger, so much hatred. From far, you should hold the door. Go out of the way. A Bhakta’s heart is inside. It smells fragrance, dufted. That’s it. So, the beauty of the bhaktas, the love of the bhaktas, is that love which God Kṛṣṇa said, "I am free from all, but still I have the depth of love of the gopīs. Many, many incarnations I will take to pay back their love, how pure and great their devotion is." So even God surrenders to that devotion, to that love. But you have to become that bhakta. You have to clean your heart. Self-inquiry meditation: give up, renounce, and enjoy. Enter the kingdom of the Lord through the gate of sacrifice. Who said? Our beloved Satgurū Swāmī Madhavānandajī Mahārāj Kī Jai. Om Sarve Bhavantu Sukhinaḥ Sarve Santu Nirāmayāḥ, Sarve Bhadrāṇi Paśyantu, Mā Kāścid Duhkhabhāgbhavet, Om Śāntiḥ, Śāntiḥ,... Hari Om, Deep Nārāyaṇ Bhagavān Kī Jai.
