Yoga is designed for human beings to be healthy, to live in harmony and peace, to be happy, and to help and protect all creatures. Yoga is one of the most ancient paths; nothing is older than yoga. It is described even in the Vedas, which are among the oldest scriptures. Everything we do comes from the Vedas. As God Kṛṣṇa said, "Time to time, I manifest myself through my yoga śakti, yoga power, yoga energy." Yoga is the divine work, the work of the divine spirit, divine consciousness, the God consciousness. Yoga removes all negative energy and makes a human being a better person. Ultimately, it is said, "Nurse a Nārāyaṇa from human to God." All divine incarnations, when they were born, were not immediately known to be divine. Many holy saints in this world became divine through their meditation, prayers, love for all creatures, and tolerance. What is meditation? What is prayer? What is universal love? It is yoga. These are all yogic techniques. To believe in God is a yoga principle. To know what God is, is a yogic thought. The yogī said, "Oh man, there is a God." You need not be afraid of anyone, but you should know that God knows. Everything will definitely be judged by destiny. You should not be afraid of anyone, but you should be mindful of your karma: what you did, what you are doing, and what you should do. It was the yogī who said, "There is God, and only that one God, Brahman, formless." This was spoken of a universal God, not specifically of incarnations. At that time, there were no names for the religions we have now on the planet. All religions are beautiful and good. But in the very beginning, yoga was there, before any religions were named. Religions developed on this planet according to the teachings or messages of holy saints, messengers, or divine incarnations. Those who followed the principles of a holy saint formed a movement, which you call a religion. All are good; all aim for the one God. There are not two gods, only one. To believe is God. To know is God. How to realize that? The technique, how to become free from karma—which means from sin—that is yoga. How to lead a healthy life is yoga. How to serve, have mercy, and love for all is yoga. The help that comes is from yoga. Prayer and meditation are all yogic techniques, which we now find in every religion. How beautiful it is. Everyone has the freedom to believe in a religion however they wish, because God, religion, and spirituality are very personal to a human being. To open your heart and give love is very personal. When you realize that love, you will not play with it. After experiencing many, many lives, you will live from this experience. Mīrā Dāsī janam janam kī Hari tumāre sāth. Mīrā Bhāī said, "Mīrā is your servant, O my Lord, from many, many lives I have been with you. For me, only you, Lord, nobody else." These are matters of the heart, not of desire. Desires lead to trouble. The cause of trouble, illness, and conflict is desire. There are many kinds of desires: for money, for position, for more followers, to create a party or group. One day, all will stay here, and you will go alone, never knowing when that time will come. Can you name any point of any religion that is not compatible with yoga and the ancient yogic scriptures? In the Purāṇas—the ancient tales of Hindu mythology passed from master to disciple—there are stories (Vistha) several hundred thousand years old. When we think of Satya Yuga, Dvāpar Yuga, Tretā Yuga, who counted these ages? A yogī. Therefore, yoga is universal. It makes human consciousness clear and leads to God—to that God in which you believe, in the way you believe, with complete freedom. This is a matter of your heart, the love and belief within it. This is why Yoga in Daily Life is essential, as it brings the teachings of the great divine masters of Om Śrī Alakhpurījī, Siddha Pīṭha Paramparā. There are many activities in Yoga in Daily Life. Every year we organize at least two world peace conferences. Some organize once every ten years and say, "Thanks to God, it's finished." But we are tireless every year because peace in our world means something to us. It doesn't matter which country; all belong to our beautiful world. We support poor children and poor countries without any conditions—hundreds, perhaps thousands, of children are supported for their education and life, even without knowing their names. This is niṣkāmakarma, selfless action. If I say another master is not good and ask you to come to me, I am already doing bad karma and cannot be a master anymore. If I say a religion is not good and ask people to come to mine, I am discriminating. Yoga does not allow discrimination. God does not allow discrimination. Human rights do not allow discrimination. Who are you to tempt someone away from their love? That is not good. In Yoga in Daily Life, we are also very active in protecting the environment through water harvesting projects, planting trees, and more. For the last 15 years, we have been trying to plant World Peace Trees around the globe. These trees should remind us that peace is neither religious, cultural, political, nor nationalistic. The tree belongs to our planet and to all of us, to remind humanity that animals, vegetation, water—everything wishes to exist in peace and happiness. It is not easy. Over the last 40 years, I have experienced much in planting this beautiful tree of yoga in people's lives. Now, all five continents are practicing and helping. That is its beauty, and everyone has freedom of belief. We have many disciples who believe in Islam, Judaism, Christianity (Protestants, Catholics, Orthodox), Buddhism, Hinduism, the Baháʼí Faith, and more. I see oneness in all; all are human. The one religion to which we belong is humanity. Look at the work of Yoga in Daily Life. How many nations are sitting here together, with no one asking for a visa to sit beside another? How many different religions, ages, men, and women are here under one roof? That is the beauty of yoga. This message you should give to all: practice this and be happy. We have no personal interest in you, only that you are happy. Enjoy and be happy. That is all. Just be happy. Narāyaṇa Bhagavān has given life to be happy, to be helpful, and to protect other lives. Human life should be the last life in this creation through the practice of spiritual sādhanā, Yoga in Daily Life, or any other path. Self-realization means our individual consciousness merges into cosmic consciousness. But this is only possible if we free ourselves from negative karmas. Karma is in your hands; you can do what you want. It is your decision. But the result, the fruit of your action, is not in your hands. That result is your destiny, and you are involved in it. You have no choice but to step out. You are like a balloon in the sky, in the hands of the wind, which will take you in its direction whether you want it or not. In which direction is the wind blowing? Whether you want it or not, it is your destiny, leading you through this endless universe and into the next life. Pralabdha pele rachā, pise rasa śarīra. First, pralabdha (destiny) is created, and then the body is given. We do not know if we will have such good karma again to receive a beautiful human body, a healthy body, a divine consciousness, or to meet the master again. Pata Tuta Dal Se, Lega Pavan Uday, Ab Bichhde Kab Milenge, Door Padege Jai. In autumn, leaves fall from the tree and the wind blows them away. One does not know the destiny of the wind, where it will take the leaf, or if it will return to its original tree. It is in the hands of our destiny. Out of our anger, jealousy, desires, complexes, greed, selfishness, and ego, we miss the beautiful chance to unite with God by following a spiritual path. Every religion teaches the divine. We must understand that more or less every religion has the same principles. But not every religion has the same number of followers. Conflict and fighting arise to get more followers, not from anything against religion or God. It is like politics: one wants to be president, another prime minister; one party, the opposition, another party. Competition, challenges. A holy saint said you can have it all. Take it. Less burden. God has given in my kismet a handful of rice, a glass of water. I will not starve. They can take everything from us, but not what is in our kismet, our destiny, our pralabdha. No one can take that away. If it is in our pralabdha to die, we will die. Jisko Rākhe Śhanya Mār Sakhe Na Koī, Jitne Tāre Gagan Mein Utne Dushman Hoī. As many stars as are in the sky, that many enemies you can have. But if God wants to protect you, my dear, they cannot damage even one hair. Do you not believe and trust in God? Therefore, I always say one thing: the truth. Tolerance for T, respect for R, U for understanding, T again for trust in God, and H for harmony. That is the truth: Tolerance, Respect, Understanding, Trust, Harmony, and Truth. This is the principle of Swāmījī’s world peace motto, which we should follow. God knows. Now, throughout the world, the young generation is beginning to think spiritually again. Thanks to the media, especially electronic media, we know the whole world. The world has become a small village; we know immediately what is happening in every corner. I am thankful to the media people. Some are angry at the media, but I always say thanks, for they bring us messages and knowledge. Nowadays, the generation knows everything about different religions, spiritual paths, and cultures. Nothing can be hidden. And so, they return to a natural way of living, thinking, and believing. How beautiful. We must support the young generation, for they are the culture of tomorrow, the light of tomorrow. In whichever direction the youth go, in that direction our country and our future will go. Many young people today are not hungry for money. They do not understand why there are so many companies and factories. Look at what money can bring. The whole world is in fear about banking issues. Money does not disappear; it remains on this planet, in the pockets of people. It is a kind of psychic terror. If you depend so much on money, you will be nervous. If you believe that you will get what is in your kismet, then it is okay. Jesus said, "Thou shalt not carry." Why do you carry so many things with you? If it is written in your destiny that you will eat three times, you will eat three times, not four. If it is written that you will not eat today, though you try, you will not. Either you become ill, or you vomit, or have diarrhea, or you are on an airplane with no vegetarian food. Man has no power to change destiny. It is in my kismet, my destiny. Accept it. Try to accept. A relationship was only for a particular time, and then it separates. That is all. Oh man, why do you cry for that? Remember the beautiful days with that relationship. Let that beauty be a strong pillar in your life to continue. Otherwise, you are jealous, angry, sad, crying. It does not help. You can be angry, okay. You can be jealous, okay. Jealousy is a fire; you burn yourself in it. Anger is a fire; you burn yourself in it. Jealousy, anger, and hate destroy the healthy cells of the body. If these cells cannot regenerate, they become dangerous diseases like cancer and others. So it came, it was, it is gone. But in the divine world, in the energy world, it is with me. I am never alone. It is there. This material form is a kind of visualization. You dream, it comes, and you wake up, it is not there. You are, your ātmā is there. Therefore, we shall work with love, live with love, help people with love, and learn to renounce, to give up. If you do not renounce, destiny will make you renounce. You should give your property, your children, renounce, and go meditate. If you do not, one day they will find you with your mouth open—gone! How beautiful is conscious renunciation? Then they will say, "My father was so good; he gave me everything." We shall find a way to harmonize with everyone. We shall find the steps to walk into every temple, church, āśram, mosque, stūpa, and synagogue. We shall find the strength to kneel before every holy saint and every religion. You need strength. If you have no strength, you will say from afar, "Hari Om." If you have no strength, you will go in front of a church and rush. Why do it quickly? Do it nicely. No one will kill you, but your ego is killing you. It does not let you dare to speak, and it does not let you surrender. We must remove that ego. Let us find the way to the divine. Gandhijī was a great religious and spiritual man. Lifelong, he was a bhakta of God Rāma. His favorite song was: Raghupati Rāghava Rājārāma, patita pāvana Sītārāma. Īśvara Allāha tero nāma, sabako sanmatī de bhagavāna. Raghupati Raghava Raja Rama, Patita Pavana Sita Rama. Sītārām, Sītārām, bhajman pyāre Sītārām. Sītārām, Sītārām, bhajman pyāre Sītārām. Raghupati means Lord of the Raghu dynasty, God Rāma. Patita Pāvana Sītā Rāma means the liberator of all sinners, Lord of Sītā. "Sītārām Bhajman Pyāre Sītārām" means, "O my mind, repeat the name of Sītārām." "Īśvara Allāh Tero Nām" means, "Īśvara or Allāh, all is your name, O Lord." "Sabko Sanmatī De Bhagavān" means, "O Lord, give everyone good thinking, positive thinking." This was Gandhijī's favorite song. The final, solid proof that Gandhijī was a devotee of God Rāma is that his last breath left his mouth with the words, "He Rām" (O God Rāma). Not with words of anger or blame, but "He Rām." That is your mercy. You gave me so much time. Thank you. You took care of me again. I come to thee, O my Lord. Hey Rām. Gandhijī was a very spiritual and religious person who respected all religions equally. He never criticized any religion. He only criticized the offering of animals in the name of God. Gandhijī prohibited animal sacrifice and alcohol throughout India. Unfortunately, alcohol has returned. There is a very beautiful song that Gandhijī liked and often recited its first line: Vaiṣṇava jano unko kahiye, pīr parāyī jāne re. Vaiṣṇavas are those who understand the pain of others. When you understand the pain of all humans—the suffering, the ill, children, and all animals—you are a Vaiṣṇava. This is proof of Gandhijī's spirituality. At the end of his biography, he writes, "Those who think or say that politics and religion cannot go together do not know what politics is or what religion is." He proved that through humility, kindness, and non-violence, we can achieve much. This life is given to achieve something, with gentleness. As soon as you show anger and aggression, you become a victim of your own anger. Therefore, our Yoga in Daily Life, practiced around the world, has a great impact on people. We work for all. We are against no one. We respect all, and we pray for all.
