In nature, it is the law: whatever is born will die. Whatever you make or create will be destroyed sooner or later; what is formed will one day be dissolved. This constant changing, this change, we call rebirth and death. We call it the rebirth and death of the body; the Self never dies. The individual becomes stronger and stronger with every birth because more qualities are collected. Whether we believe it or not does not help; if things could be changed with belief, then it would be very easy. Therefore, it is certain that whoever is born will die, and whoever has died will be born again. Each birth is given to develop further—rebirth. In modern language, we say recycling. The word "recycling" is taken from rebirth. Now, even the body doesn't die; this body, which we declare a dead body, is still alive—there are so many functions still in the body, so many bacteria are still alive in the body. And we put this body into the earth; all elements merge into their own origin: the liquid form will merge into the liquid element, the heat into the fire element, the earth into the earth element, and space into the space element. And then it will again be utilized; it will become good fertilizer sometime, and it will be again utilized. It will grow from that nice vegetable, nice vegetation, and we will again eat that, and it will again transform into our body, and again that is living further—that's recycling. Similarly, what recycling is in the material world, that is also recycling in the memories. You are recycling your memories. And in the dream, the dream is a recycling process of your consciousness. And the same thing is in our emotions; very often things are recycling—we remember things. And the same thing is recycling in the process of the soul and the consciousness developing. So, the sense of rebirth and death is this: to develop further. It has given the time—how long it takes until you arrive to die. And therefore, no one should be killed. No one should be killed, either animals or humans, unnaturally, before their time is right. Otherwise, it is called murder, and to kill someone is the biggest sin. And that sin will be counted again as one of the negative karmas, which will push your phenomenon into the darkness.
