God feeds everyone

A spiritual discourse addressing existential fear and trust in divine providence.

"Many people have a fear of existence. They have this fear because they lack self-confidence."

"He who gave us the beak will also give the food. So why worry?... Trust Him. He will provide."

The speaker analyzes the modern "slavery" to work and the pervasive fear of losing one's livelihood, linking it to a lack of trust in destiny or God. He advocates for genuine faith, illustrated by a lengthy parable about a man who refuses to work or retrieve found treasure, insisting God will provide directly. The story culminates with thieves mistakenly delivering pots of snakes and scorpions to the man's hut, which he interprets as divine delivery. The talk concludes by balancing this message of trust with the injunction to still work diligently.

Many people do not know the purpose of their life. They are guided only by their feelings and thoughts. Many people think we must work, we must have money to feed our children, to eat, drink, and sleep. Countless people are doing just this. Consequently, when something happens in a country's systems, these people become unhappy, nervous, or scared of losing their job. You cannot imagine how many people have a fear of existence. They have this fear because they lack self-confidence. Somehow, they do not know what they would do if they had no work, or whether they would be able to find any. In this way, real slavery exists in the world today. It does not matter what position you hold at work; you are still a slave. Your boss or the provider of your work can say at any time, "We don't need you anymore; you can go." And you have to go. Or they can order, "Do this, do this, and do that." That is slavery. Very few people try to be independent and create their own work, profession, or job. Those countries are more prosperous where people have their own private businesses. This is also good for the country and its economy. Although it is a private interest, it still benefits the nation, and the standard of living improves. Of course, I wish for you to have good work. But I am only telling you how the system can make a person very unhappy and how much we depend on the outer world. There are many different kinds of fears, but one big fear is the fear of existence. It is a very significant fear, stemming from a lack of self-confidence. We do not trust our destiny, our luck, our karma, or God. There is a saying: "He who gave us the beak will also give the food." So why worry? A believer says, "God feeds all creatures." No one goes to sleep hungry. Not even a small ant goes to sleep hungry. On this planet, all creatures are fed by God. He takes care. Believe in Him. Even the trees and plants are fed by Him; they are watered by Him. O human, you are such a highly developed, clever being. Why do you worry about your stomach? Do you not trust Him? Trust Him. He will provide. But the trust must be real trust. There is a story. A man was making a statue from a beautiful, big stone. Every day he worked, but he could not achieve the proper form. One day, with a slight heat from his hammer, the stone broke into two parts. Inside, there was a small hole, and within it sat a creature eating a piece of corn. But in the end, your Gurū said, "Yes, yes." She began the prayer: "Lord Kṛṣṇa, please, can you explain the third chapter of the Bhagavad Gītā to him?" Again, Karma Yoga. He said, "He need not explain to me; he should give to me, that's all. And if he wants to give, I can tell you that he will break our roof and throw it inside. If he wants to give ... Now he is not working; he is sitting at home, sleeping, doing nothing. Now his wife shouts every day, 'You are a lazy one, you are a crazy one; I am not going to cook for you.' He said, 'Don't worry. If he wants to give me eating, he will give me eating also. Don't go; come and lie down, sleep. Why are you working in the kitchen?' She said, 'My God, he is a schizophrenic.'" One evening, around 10 or 11 o'clock, they were sleeping in their grass hut and talking. She was trying to play psychologist. "We need to repair our hut. We have no money. And people are all talking badly about us. I think we should work." As soon as she said they should work, he agreed. Then he said, "I must tell you something," very interesting. She said, "Yes, please, what is that?" He always tried to support her feelings and ideas to begin work. He said, "You know, this morning when I was going into the forest to the toilet—this room toilet system is not so old; the room toilet system began in this part of Europe; they were calling it the English toilet, meaning you have a toilet close to your room or inside the room. Before that, even in England, it was not inside. People had a toilet in the garden or a little farther in the forest. To have a toilet near the hall room or the flat was not so representative. So this flushing system and technique changed." He continued, "You know, I was sitting behind the bush, and I took a little stick. I was just playing with the earth, digging like this, and suddenly I saw some hard material down. So I took more sand away, and there was a big pot like this, covered. I opened it; I couldn't believe how many diamonds and jewels were inside." "And why didn't you bring it home?" she asked. He said, "So crazy I am not. I am angry. If he wants to give us something like this, why there, just where I am sitting comfortably in the toilet? Must I carry that home? I am not his slave. If he wants to give to me, then he will give it here." At that minute, behind their hut, two thieves were standing. They were waiting for the couple to fall asleep so they could break in and steal whatever they had. The thieves were listening. "There is so much treasure, and he doesn't have it at home. My God, where was this?" They prayed to God. "We hope she will ask him, 'Where was it?'" And she said, "Where was it? In which direction? Can you tell me? I will go and bring it." He said, "There and there, but you are not going." She said, "Tomorrow I will go." The thieves left, thinking, "My God, that's our luck." So the thieves went searching for the kind of bush where something heavy was in the earth. They saw some scratches on the ground, so they dug. They found two pots and were happy. They opened them. In one pot were only snakes, and in the other were only scorpions. Quickly they closed the pots again, looking at each other. "You see, that was the trick. He saw us, and he wanted to kill us. What does he think? We will put this on him." So they carried both pots, slowly climbed onto the hut, and tried to make a hole through the grass. She said to him, "František, do you hear something?" He said, "Yes, Anička, we have so many mouths today. He's trying very hard to satisfy us. He's making some noise." The thieves opened a hole, threw the pots inside, and ran away. She was frightened. "What is this, my God?" she said. "That's what I told you," he replied. "He tried to give us something in the house, but I can't understand why he disturbs our sleep. Trust in your destiny." She said, "Get up quickly; we should collect it all." He said, "This work I don't want to do. Tomorrow you have time to collect it, or let us lie here as it is. Whenever you need, take one piece; that's all." This story symbolizes that if we have something in our hand, anyone can take it away. But what we have in our destiny, in our head, nobody can take away. That will follow us everywhere. What is in your destiny will come to you; do not worry. Therefore, do not be afraid about anything in this world. Do not be afraid about your existence. God has given, and He will give. So no one goes to sleep hungry; God feeds everyone. Even a small, tiny creature finds food. So, O man, O human, you are such a developed creature, so intelligent. Why are you then torturing yourself with such a fear of uncertainty and complexes? But this does not mean that from now onwards you will not work; that was just a story. You should work according to your ability; you should do your best. But God is taking care of us all. Therefore, it is said in one bhajan. Recording location: Czech Republic, Strilky, Summer seminar
