An Offering of Light and Gratitude

A closing address at an interfaith conference on peace and spirituality.

"Tons of theory is nothing compared with a grain of practice, and so this theory which you heard today, we have to put into practice."

"Peace is not a religion, not a philosophy, and not a politic, but it is a universal principle."

Swami Avatarpuri concludes a conference, expressing gratitude to participants including a rabbi, a lama, and Hansa Swāmī. He emphasizes applying the day's teachings through personal practice and organizing future conferences to spread universal principles of peace, contentment, and love. The speech also honors his Master on the anniversary of his passing.

Oṃ subhaṃ karoti kalyāṇam ārogyam dhanasampadam, śatrubuddhi vināśāya deepa jyotir namastute, deepa jyoti parabrahma deepaṃ sarve mohanaṃ, deepānāṃ sajate sarvaṃ sandhyā. Deepaṃ sarvaṃ satyam, Oṃ śāntiḥ, śāntiḥ, śāntiḥ. With this adoration to the cosmic light, Lord of our hearts, omniscient and omnipresent, my very dear brothers and sisters, good evening. You must be very tired sitting here for so long, my dear spiritual brothers, rabbis, and Abraham Sotendhal, and Lama, and dear sister Hansa Swāmī. You know, Hansa means the supreme swan. That Haṃsa is a liberated soul, and when the Master gives the blessing, then definitely it is a liberated soul. This was a task for her today, about her trust in her Master—that she wouldn't make a step forward or backward without the words of her Master. So, I congratulate her Master. He must be very proud to have such a wise and great disciple, and I pray for her spiritual development. Thank you; please give him my warm regards. Oṃ Namo Nārāyaṇa. To His Holiness, whose message was wonderfully presented—the essence of the Vedas and Sanātana Dharma, which is the aim of this conference: to achieve oneness, the unity in diversity. We also had a wonderful speech from our brother Lama, a beautiful cultural program performed by our Kyo artists, and the wonderful opera singing of our dear rabbi. So, you see, it was not boring. We have learned many things. Now our duty is to put it into practice. Tons of theory is nothing compared with a grain of practice, and so this theory which you heard today, we have to put into practice. It depends on us, on the individual, how we will work now and in the future. We all should organize such conferences. You are sitting here, thousands of you. If there will be thousands of conferences every year, definitely this consciousness will awake in humans, and they will gain the strength and feeling of certainty to take the step towards peace. Otherwise, you know, who speaks about peace becomes the victim of bullets. It is not easy to find peace, and therefore, it is the duty of everyone. We shall bring this message door to door. Peace is not a religion, not a philosophy, and not a politic, but it is a universal principle. Peace, contentment, happiness, and love—these are the universal principles, and everyone has a right to them, but we need to realize it. Thank you for your coming and thank you for the support of all those—the government members, excellencies, artists, NGOs, and all dear brothers and sisters. Thank you for taking your time. Today is a very important day for Christianity; it is All Souls' Day, the day of all holy souls, and we pray for them. We pray to our ancestors for their blessing and guidance, and we shall fulfill what they began. They gave their lives for peace and freedom. So, thank you very, very much once more for coming. Now there will be a few more programs, and then the regulation will be laid by our dear brother Rabbi Sotendor. Then a beautiful dance will come again. I wish you a very, very safe and pleasant journey back, that you arrive home comfortable and happy. I personally say thank you for your coming. I don't know if I will have time to thank our translators—our dear sister Milena, and there are some hidden translators. You hear only them through the air, translating into Hungarian, Croatian, German, and English, and of course Czech is always spoken here as the official language of this conference. Also, I would like to thank the organizers. I can tell you, I have had many conferences, but this was one of the best, beautiful, and successful. So, I thank you, the Brno organizers. This conference is like a seed. We have given you the seed, and now you have to grow a large tree which will spread its branches around the whole globe—branches of peace, spirituality, understanding, forgiveness, tolerance, justice, and spirituality. Today is just one year since my beloved Master left this physical body and became one with the cosmic light. I pray and offer him my devotion and pray for his guidance. Dear brothers and sisters, thank you for your coming. Once more, thank you. Once again, thank you.
