IDY in Prague

Yoga should become an integral part of everyday life. Ancient India developed profound knowledge of the world and the self. Yoga is a path requiring intellectual understanding, practical application, and direct experience of the results. Its practice, including chanting which deepens the breath, should be realized in all actions and interactions. A tradition of teaching this system has been established for decades. Events celebrating this path bring people together in practice and community, fostering awareness and personal well-being.

"I have been practicing yoga in my daily life for the second year now. It is a lifestyle I truly enjoy."

"It is a good feeling to be doing something for oneself. It brings a good mood and lifts a person up."

Today, on the 21st of June 2015, the entire world celebrated the International Day of Yoga for the first time. The Yoga in Daily Life organization marked the occasion with three yoga events across 27 cities in the Czech Republic. Representatives from Yoga in Daily Life and other yoga schools, along with yoga experts, participated in a program organized by the Embassy of India in Prague. This program included yoga practice and a roundtable discussion on yoga-related topics. Ancient India stands as a unique example of the intellectual and practical development of knowledge about the world around us and within us. Through chanting, one’s breath immediately becomes so deep it is almost astonishing. Truly, yoga should become an integral part of our everyday life. It should be yoga in daily life—something we realize in everything we do, in how we interact with others, in our work, and in our family life. First, we need to experience. We need to follow a certain path. We must understand intellectually, then understand practically, then do, then feel and see the results. In Prague alone, eight events were organized in total, held in yoga centers and two city parks. The program included yoga practice for both children and adults, as well as mantra and kīrtan chanting. "I have been practicing yoga in my daily life for the second year now. I am progressing to the 5th or 6th series, and I must say this yoga has totally impressed me. It is a lifestyle I truly enjoy. I have found many interesting friends and people. It motivates me greatly, and I feel at home. It is wonderful that yoga is entering people's awareness. I believe it is something that can genuinely make people happy, as yoga teaches you to return to yourself." "It is pleasant here; it is nice to exercise here. It is a good feeling to be doing something for oneself. It brings a good mood and lifts a person up, I would say." The Yoga in Daily Life system has been taught in the Czech Republic for 42 years. Today, a great new tradition has been launched, and we look forward to building upon it in the years to come.
