Happy new year with best wishes from Swamiji

A New Year's blessing for peace and unity.

The new year is a time adopted by many as a calendar year. We offer prayers for all, especially for victims of violence and terror. Such sorrow must not be repeated. All are children of one God and citizens of one planet. No boundary or belief should divide humanity. We must learn to live together in harmony and happiness. May the new year bring positive thinking and spiritual development to all.

"We are all children of one God; it does not matter which belief you hold."

"No boundary should divide us. No belief should divide us."

Salutations to the Cosmic Light, the Lord of our hearts, Omniscient and Omnipresent. In His divine presence, a very good evening to you, dear brothers and sisters, here in the holy place of Kailāsh Āśram, Śrīdeva Purījī’s Āśram, where we are all sitting. Also, many good wishes and a good evening to all the brothers and sisters, the spiritual seekers, the practitioners of the Yogananda life, and the practitioners of different spiritual paths. Good evening to you. To those who have a birthday, I wish you a happy birthday. We are standing at the point where, according to Christianity and Christ, we begin the new year tomorrow. This New Year is adopted as a commercial and calendar year in many countries. Of course, every religion—like Judaism, Christianity, Islam, Buddhism, and one of the most ancient, Hinduism—has different times for counting years, yugas, manvantaras, kalpas, and so on. Well, dear brothers and sisters, 2008 is coming to an end, and tomorrow we will begin with the new date, the 1st of January, 2009. To those who are celebrating this and listening, I first wish you a very happy, healthy, harmonious, peaceful, and spiritually developed new year. Around the world, in many countries and spiritual centers—especially Yoga in Daily Life, which is taught in over 35,000 locations globally—everywhere they will pray. We especially offer our prayers to those innocent souls who were victims of the terror attacks in India, in Mumbai, where hundreds of people lost their lives, thousands of children were left without fathers or mothers, and hundreds of women became widows. You cannot imagine the sorrow and feelings of these people. We pray to the Almighty that in the new year such things should not happen. All should learn to live in harmony, happiness, and peace. We are all children of one God; it does not matter which belief you hold. We are all citizens of one planet, our Mother Earth; it does not matter where we are. No boundary should divide us. No belief should divide us. We should learn to live together in harmony and happiness. In India, according to Indian time, at zero hour we will offer our prayers. You are all most welcome, dear brothers and sisters. With this, I wish you, your family, and your country all the best—happiness, peace, and harmony. May God bless our planet, bless all creatures, and bless all humans with positive thinking. Oṁ Śāntiḥ, Śāntiḥ, Śāntiḥ. These are my New Year wishes for 2009. God bless you, and I bless you on behalf of our spiritual lineage: Ālak Purījī, Śrī Devpurījī, Bhagavān Śrī Dīp Nārāyaṇ Mahāprabhujī, and our beloved Satgurudev, Hindu Dharm Samrāṭ, Śrī Svāmī Madhavānand Purījī Mahārāj. This blessing comes to you from our ashram, Kelāś, District Sikar, Rajasthan, India. Oṁ Śāntiḥ Śāntiḥ Śāntiḥ.
