We are repeating some mistakes

A spiritual discourse on human forgetfulness and its consequences for the self and the planet.

"We forget very quickly. We begin something new and make the same mistake again."

"The cause is the humans, the human deeds... that is the heaviness for Mother Earth."

The speaker reflects on the cycle of human experience across lifetimes, where forgetfulness leads to repeated mistakes and a focus on temporary, material gains over lasting peace. He connects this spiritual amnesia to current worldly suffering, proposing that human ethical failures—the "black spots" or kalank of our actions—are causing the earth to react with disturbances like earthquakes, as a warning against pollution and imbalance.

Life is very interesting, and the things that happen in life are also very interesting. This individual self, traveling in this body from place to place around the world and journeying with its astral body through many different layers of the universe, experiences many, many lives. It experiences pleasure and unpleasantness, creating and breaking many relations. We are struggling through this universe. What happens to us? We forget. We forget very quickly. We begin something new and make the same mistake again. Why do we repeat the same mistake? Because we have forgotten what happened in the past. We will be surprised when we see the same thing will happen in the future also. Every action has a reaction. Positive actions have a positive reaction, and negative actions have a negative reaction. On this holy earth, many different atmospheres and many activities have been done. Sometimes there were the Satya Yugas on the earth. Sometimes Dvāpar Yuga, Tretā Yuga, and Kali Yuga. But it seems that we still have not learned enough, having forgotten what happened in past lives and what happens in this life. We do not care what will happen in the future. The Self knows everything. Our inner Self knows everything, but we do not listen to our inner Self. We always look outside. We always look towards materialistic advantage. We love dear money. We love comfort. We love the house. We love name and position. In order to achieve these temporary things, we are ready to do so many terrible things. And in order to realize something—happiness, everlasting peace—for that we do very little. And that is a pity. We see what humans have done in past centuries. How far is Mother Earth going to forgive us? You see, when something happens with you, good or bad, you see the reaction in your parents. When something bad happens, when you are doing bad things, then you see the reaction of your mother. You see, this beginning of this year was not positive. Mother Earth is shivering, trembling. Nearly every day there is an earthquake. Why? Science will not find out why. Science has its explanation in a theoretical way. Science cannot tell us what is the cause. The cause is the humans, the human deeds. It is said, what is the burden or the heaviness for the earth? The earth itself is heavy enough. But what is for the earth something heavier than this? The earth is able to resist everything. This mother is able to resist everything. Which things can she not resist? And that is the sins of the human. We call it kalank. Kalank means the black spots. The blackness of human actions. The ethics, the morals, the social aspects, all that happens through humans, that is the heaviness for Mother Earth. This was only the first reaction, a hint, saying stop—two things: polluting the earth through rivers and oceans, ponds and streets, industries. A thousand years ago there were no industries. Five hundred years ago there were no industries. Two hundred years ago there were no industries. At that time, humans had enough to eat, enough to wear. They were happy and healthier than now. And what are we doing now? Nearly every village has some industry. Still we do not have enough. And we are not healthy and not happy. We are trying to live in a world which is called a man-made world. The God-made world is perfect, and the man-made world is imperfect. And we don't have enough because desires are never satisfied; desires are never enough. --- Recording location: Czech Republic, Strilky, Weekend seminar
