Give up your problems

A spiritual discourse on overcoming personal suffering and ego.

"All the problems you have, my dear, have no solution... But there is only one way... to become free from these problems: just to drop them, say goodbye, that's all."

"Your enemy is yourself, and your friend is yourself. Your liberator is yourself. And this you shall try to realize during this whole week."

Swami Avatarpuri addresses a gathering, asserting that worldly desires and problems are inherently unsolvable and that freedom comes only from utterly abandoning them. He contrasts the fixed nature of animals with the human capacity for change, urging positive thought and speech. He explains that the Master's words are like an arrow meant to pierce the ego, referencing a devotional song by Lāla Nañjī Mahārāja and noting that those who feel personally targeted should understand the teaching is universal.

All temptations and desires can never be fulfilled. They will always put you into trouble. Day by day, complications are growing. Did you ever think to solve these complications? All the problems you have, my dear, have no solution. There is no solution; there is no treatment for your problems. You cannot solve them; you will never be able to solve them; you will suffer in them. But there is only one way, if there is one, to become free from these problems: just to drop them, say goodbye, that's all. If you are not able to give up, then the problem will not be solved. You can give up for some time—one month, one year, two years—but again you will fall into it. You know, there are some creatures, meat-eating creatures: dogs, cats, tigers. You can educate them and feed them vegetarian food. But as soon as the meat comes in front of them, they will attack it. That's it; there is a nature inside. But a human can change that nature. So all your problems which you have are out of your nature, your weakness. So why can't you think positively? Why can't you speak positively? Why can't you tell someone something positive? If you can tell the negative, you can also tell the positive. So your enemy is yourself, and your friend is yourself. Your liberator is yourself. And this you shall try to realize during this whole week. Think which problems disturb you always. Then you should finish with them. I am very happy to see you. And what I told you, it was not to any personal individual or personal thing, to somebody, a particular person, but it was in whole, in general. And those who have this problem, they feel my words like an arrow in their heart, because the words of the Master are an arrow. Lāla Nañjī Mahārāja said in his bhajan that my Satgurū shot an arrow, and it went through and through in my heart; I became unconscious and fell down on the ground. Who fell down on the ground? The ego; the ego fell down, and you became free. That's it. How is this bhajan? Kyā tum jāno hāl? Merā, Māriyā, Tī. Only those who understand, who understand. There is still someone who is thinking so negatively now. Saying, "Swāmījī is talking to me," but he should be sure that Swāmījī doesn't talk to him. Of course, he is also included, but ... --- Recording location: Czech Republic, Strilky, Mantra Anushtana
