Today is the Mahāsamādhi day of Śrī Devapurījī. More than fifty years ago, he left this world. You know his āshram, Kailāsh Āshram. In the evening, he told the villagers, "Tonight, nobody will stay here; all go home." A few days before, he had instructed them where to bury his body. In a Brahmamūrti state, chanting "Oṃ", he left his body. When people came at 6:37 in the morning, they found him sitting in the lotus posture. That was it. Śrī Devapurījī was verily Śiva. Śiva's power is God Viṣṇu, and Viṣṇu is the devotee of Śiva, while Śiva is the devotee of Viṣṇu. You see how beautiful it is? The husband loves the wife, and the wife loves the husband. Now, who loves whom? It is in love; love loves the love. So love loves the love. The joy of that love is that very love, which is the indescribable love. Where there is no love, what can you call joy? The joy of mere joys brings more sorrow than the joys themselves, because that joy is more sorrowful than joy. This is because love did not love the love. That is the love between Śiva and Viṣṇu. Around that āshram of Devapurījī, you will hardly find anyone who does not know of his greatness. Four months ago in Jaipur, I met a paṇḍit, an astrologer. He came to see me; we did not know each other. We were talking, and he asked, "Swāmījī, how long will you be in Jaipur? I would like to come to your satsaṅg again." He said he did not know why, but he felt attracted to me, as if by a magnet. I said, "Well, that's it." He asked how long I would stay. I replied, "Tomorrow I am going to Kailāsh for some ceremonies." He asked, "Which Kailāsh?" I told him, "Here in the Sikar district." He then asked, "Do you know Bābā Devpurī's āshram?" I said, "Yes, somehow I know." He said, "I must go there. You know, I never saw such a great sādhu." He told me a story: "My mother is from that village. When I was a teenager, I lost all my hair for a few years. I went with my mother to her parents, and she took me for darśan of Devapurījī. We made praṇām. He asked me, 'You don't have hair on your head?' My mother said, 'Yes, we don't know what happened; he lost his hair.' Devpurījī said, 'Come to me.' I was afraid to go near because there were snakes moving beside him. When he raised his hand, a cobra would appear; you see nothing, and suddenly something is there. But he said, 'Come near,' so I went. He touched my head with his hand, and I felt so much peace and love. I can't describe what I was feeling; it was not normal, it was supernatural. He said, 'From tomorrow onwards, you will have hair.' When I got up in the morning, I couldn't believe it. I put my hand on my head, and so many small hairs were growing, like one day after shaving. Look at my hair now, how strong it is. I never use any treatment. My hair is like a horse's hair. It is not hair; it is Devpurījī's blessing. You must go there, Swāmījī." I said, "OK, we will go tomorrow together." The people with him smiled and said, "You don't know, Paṇḍitjī, in front of whom you are sitting." He said, "I know I am sitting in front of Swāmījī." They said, "Yes, but who is this person? He is a great, great disciple of Śrī Devapurījī, a grand-grandchild of Devapurījī." Then, of course, he was overwhelmed. Like this, you can hear many, many glorious divine miracles of Śrī Devapurījī. Many are written in the Līlā Amṛt; you should read it. Anyone who has a wish, wish upon the name of Devapurījī. It will come true. At least once in your life, you should go to his āshram. Take ash from his fireplace, the vibhūti. It holds all the qualities and energy to fulfill your wishes, but you need love, devotion, and faith. He is there, and he is here. He is in the entire universe. It is a pity he is not in physical form today, but at least we shall meditate and think upon him. Today is his samādhi day. That light, that form in which he left, exists and lives in the heart of all bhaktas. Simply put: whatever he said came true. Therefore, people were very careful. They would sit and pray, hoping he would not say an angry word. He never spoke in anger. Whatever we thought was angry was not anger; it was a blessing. His hard words were words of nectar. He once said to a man who came and made praṇām, "Okay, I bless you, and that day you will marry." The man said, "Bābājī, I have no wish to marry; I am already married and have children." Devapurījī said, "That's why. The children need a mother. Your current wife has only three more days of life. The children are too little; you need someone to take care." That is why I blessed you so quickly." And it happened. Wherever he was moving, if it was raining, about 20–25 meters around him, not a drop of rain would fall. All the rain went to other people. We offer our prayers and humble surrender to him. We pray for his divine protection; he is our protector. He is a yogī of yogīs; that is why he is called the Yogirāj, the king of yogīs, Śiva.
