Practise this kriya

A discourse introducing a special saṅkalpa (resolve) and kriyā (practice) for purifying the inner instrument.

"This year, we have a very special saṅkalpa to consciously purify our antaḥkaraṇa. This is also a sādhanā, and this sādhanā belongs to a very advanced, developed level of yogīs."

"This kriyā has only two points: do not think negative, and do not speak negative for this one week... So, practice this kriyā very simply: do not think negative and do not speak negative."

A spiritual teacher presents a week-long practice designed to purify the mind and senses. He explains that the simple discipline of not thinking or speaking negatively allows one to observe and lock away afflictive qualities like anger and jealousy, while freely expressing divine qualities like love and peace. He advises using common sense, noting that discernment of harm can turn a negative thought into a positive action.

This year, we have a very special saṅkalpa to consciously purify our antaḥkaraṇa. This is also a sādhanā, and this sādhanā belongs to a very advanced, developed level of yogīs. When one comes near to samādhi, at that time the door is suddenly closed. So you cannot enter into samādhi. What are yogīs advised to do at that time? One special kriyā. I thought this kriyā is good for all, whether beginners or advanced yogīs. This kriyā has only two points: do not think negative, and do not speak negative for this one week. It means observe the reaction of your mind. Observe the reaction of your senses, the reaction of your temperament: the emotion, anger, hate, jealousy, greediness, complexes. We have many, many qualities. They are precious qualities, so precious—do not open them. Keep them in the treasure; otherwise, they can be stolen. Ask anybody here, "Are you an egoistic person?" They say, "No, why? Are you jealous?" "No, why should I be?" You see how we are chipping away these precious qualities. Do not show them to others. Therefore, this week you should observe your treasure, ensuring your precious qualities are not unnecessarily given away, that you do not use them unnecessarily. So, do not think negatively. Then we have the divine qualities: understanding, humbleness, love, kindness, mercy, peace, joy, happiness. These are the divine qualities, and divine qualities no one can steal. We can open them; everyone can look in, or they can take as much as they like. That divine quality is like a big river which is flowing. Any thirsty soul can come and drink water; it does not become less. So these qualities you shall expose here. The other qualities you should lock with a combination lock and forget the numbers, so you do not know how to open them, forever. These two principles are very easy: do not think negatively and do not speak negatively, especially towards anyone. Of course, if there is something negative—dirt or something, or someone comes and offers you some drug—then you have to think what it is, and you have to refuse it; do not take it. In that case, that negative becomes positive. So also, at the same time, use your common sense regarding what is negative and what is positive. That is very important. So, practice this kriyā very simply: do not think negative and do not speak negative. --- Recording location: Czech Republic, Strilky, Summer seminar
