World Peace Forum 2003 - Fleur Nassery Bonnin
Peace arises from inner harmony, which is humanity's fundamental struggle. All creation exists in harmony except humans, who live in internal disharmony and project it onto the world. Yet humans can reach the highest peace. This is the true inner struggle: to subdue the ego and realize the essential self. Without this victory, one cannot find peace, and the world pays the price. Lasting peace requires being stripped of ego and existing as the true self in divine presence. God is Peace; to be in His presence is to be at peace. Modern civilization has forgotten God. Religions must guide people to transcend the ego and realize God-consciousness and the unity of all existence. However, humans have distorted religions, making them fail. This stems from a lack of God-consciousness. In reality, behind all forms is one religion: the religion of God. One must move from self-consciousness to God-consciousness to see this Truth. Therefore, seeking peace with others without first achieving inner peace is a fallacy. The world is full of people talking of concepts without living them. We must become the change we wish to see. The moment has come to demand that religions guide us to the unity of God. In oneness, we unite.
"Without purifying the ego and achieving a victorious struggle against our own demons, one cannot find peace, and communities and the world inevitably pay a high price."
"If God is peace, how can we live in peace while forgetting God?"
