Overcome impurities
Three layers cover our consciousness: impurity, restlessness, and ignorance.
The first layer is impurity in thought and action. The second is restlessness from worldly problems, which agitate the mind like waves on water. To calm this, meditation and mantra are essential. The best meditation is to sit, close your eyes, relax, and repeat your mantra; other techniques merely direct restless thoughts. The third layer is the thick curtain of ignorance. The first step to purify all three is positive thinking, as negative thinking poisons the self. Overcome restlessness through meditation. Overcome ignorance by studying holy scriptures and attending gatherings about truth.
"Meditation without a mantra is a body without a soul."
"Negative thinking means poisoning oneself, and positive thinking means enlightening oneself."
