SRI DEEP NIRANJAN SABA DUKHA BHANJAN mantra

A spiritual discourse on the power of mantra and devotion.

"Graha gochar kā pāp nahīṁ lage, graha gochar kā tāp nahīṁ lage... all this runs away from you. You don't need any extra pūjā; you don't need anything extra more. Everything is in this one mantra."

"I am not in Veṅkuṇḍa, nor in the heart of the yogīs... But I am there, O Nārada, where my bhaktas, devotees, sing my name with love."

Swami Madhavanandaji explains the protective and purifying power of the Śrī Dīpa Nirañjana Sabadukha Bhanjana mantra, stating it shields one from planetary influences and negative spirits. He elaborates on a system of positive mantras, including positive thinking and singing bhajans, and illustrates divine omnipresence through stories of Krishna and a dialogue between Narada and Lord Vishnu about where God resides.

Śrī Dīpa Nirañjana Sabadukha Bhanjana Prabhu. Dīpa Nirañjana Sabadukha Bhanjana, Īśī Mantra. Se Hove Mana Mañjana, Śrī Dīpa Nirañjana Sabadukha Bhanjana Prabhu. Dīpa Nirañjana Sabadukha Bhanjana, Dīp Nārāyaṇa Bhagavān Kī. Swāmī Mādhavānandajī Gurudev Kī, Gurudev said: "Graha gochar kā pāp nahīṁ lage, graha gochar kā tāp nahīṁ lage." Graha means the planets. Gochar is the negative influences—magic, black magic, the Ādhibhautika, Ādhidaivika, Ādhyātmika, the Trī-Tāpa, which I explained in the previous lectures. These have no more effect. And the Bhūta, the Preta—bhūta means the ghost, and preta means the spirits, negative spirits—all this runs away from you. You don't need any extra pūjā; you don't need anything extra more. Everything is in this one mantra. Śrī Dīpa Nirañjana Sabadukha Bhanjana. This mantra says that through this mantra, our mind will be purified from negative energy, negative thoughts, and from fear. There is a negative mantra also: your negative behavior, your negative words, is a negative mantra. Also, some people want to make black magic and try to disturb others. But this mantra will create a kind of protection, like a bulletproof protection, so no negative energy can penetrate through. Now, for these mantras—positive mantras—there is a certain system. Of course, the first is positive thinking. The best mantra is this: give up all harsh words. Then we call singing bhajans. Singing prayers. Bhajans, prayers, they are mantra. Then singing kīrtana, constantly repeating the name of a particular divine incarnation. God said—God Viṣṇu, the Lord of the entire universe—He was residing in Veṅkuṇḍa, in His residence, and the great saint Nārada came. Nārada asked God Viṣṇu: "Lord, wherever I go, I see you in any part of the universe. And now I came here, I see you here." Once someone had a doubt with Kṛṣṇa. Kṛṣṇa had sixteen thousand female disciples, called gopīs, and about 52,000 gopas, the male disciples. So some person came and asked Kṛṣṇa: "You are one, and there are 16,000 gopīs, ladies. How do you manage the relation to all, and what relation do you have with them?" Kṛṣṇa said: "Well, I don't have time for such questions—relation or no relation. You should ask me how to be liberated. This question is not for me; go and ask them." So immediately he went to another room, which was some meters away. He knocked on the door; one gopī opened the door. And what did he see? Kṛṣṇa is sitting and drinking milk. He went quickly to the other door, knocked on the door. What did he see? Kṛṣṇa is just dressing. He went quickly to the other room; Kṛṣṇa was just bathing. He was completely confused. He ran to Kṛṣṇa's room, and Kṛṣṇa was sitting like this. "Did you get the answer?" He said: "Your māyā I don't understand—one in all and all in one." So our thinking is different, and God's relation to us is different; we will not understand Him. You will not understand the Bhagavad Gītā unless you understand Kṛṣṇa. You cannot understand the Bhagavad Gītā if you don't understand Kṛṣṇa. Kṛṣṇa knows Gītā; who knows Kṛṣṇa, they know what is Gītā. The mother knows Gītā, and only the mother knows who is the father of the child. Therefore, Nārada is asking Viṣṇu: "Lord, wherever I go, you are there. Wherever I stop in this space, you are there. Please, Lord, tell me your secret. Where are you mostly?" Lord Viṣṇu said: "I am not in Veṅkuṇḍa, nor in the heart of the yogīs where yogīs are meditating on God in their heart. But I am there, O Nārada, where my bhaktas, devotees, sing my name with love." Now, Kṛṣṇa, or that Viṣṇu, means that God in whom we believe—omniscient and omnipresent—but that our personal God, our Iṣṭa Devatā, is there where we are singing His name. And so the first mantra is positive thinking: don't be angry with someone, don't shout at someone. If someone talks to you or not—sometimes you ask someone something and the other doesn't answer, and again you tell the same thing, and the other is not answering, and you become angry: "You know that I'm talking to you." The husband says: "Yes, my dear, I know you are talking to me." So don't give commentary immediately negative. Don't think that someone is a machine; you speak and another one begins to answer back. Even a machine sometimes does not work because the battery is down. So the person whom you are asking something, maybe his battery is down. Let him recharge the batteries; then he will talk to you without your questions. Positive thinking. Singing the bhajans, and then singing the prayer—these are all positive mantras, very nice melody and very nice singing. It doesn't need translation. Suppose we are sitting here from many, many nations. We are from the USA here, participants from Australia, New Zealand, Brazil, entire Europe, and many speak different languages maybe. And now one artist comes with a flute and will play the flute; do you need translation? You don't need a translation. The sound of the flute itself is a translation to every heart. That's it. So the prayers, the bhajans, the kīrtana, don't need a translation. That's called the language of God. And that God has the language of your heart. And that's why you don't need translation—a very nice flute playing, or piano, or any instrument. That's it. Recording location: Czech Republic, Strilky, Summer seminar
