Mantra should be practised

A spiritual discourse on the power and practice of mantra.

"Mantra is the cosmic resonance. It is the beginning of all creation on this planet and in the entire universe."

"Once you surrender to Gurūdev—meaning you give your confidence and devotion—then you have only one thing to concern yourself with: Practice."

The speaker explains mantra as the foundational sound of creation and details the necessity of systematic practice through specific techniques like Upāṁśu. Emphasizing devotion, the talk describes how the Guru assumes responsibility for a devotee's destiny upon surrender, using the analogy of a ship's captain to illustrate the need for steadfast faith and consistent practice.

Mantra is the cosmic resonance. It is the beginning of all creation on this planet and in the entire universe. It is that sound, our resonance, which penetrates through different elements, shapes different colors, and then has different effects. The mantra we receive from Satgurū Deva is the most appropriate mantra for us. However, merely possessing that mantra is not enough. It must be practiced systematically. Without technique, there is little success. Where there is proper technique, there is safety, success, and the practice becomes pleasant and beautiful. Therefore, it is advised to achieve perfection in the five different techniques: Liquid, Vekrī, Upāṁśu, Mānasik, and Ajapā. This morning we practiced Upāṁśu. It is like when you say something after a long, long time, you can still perceive the resonance of what you said inside yourself. When we speak, approximately 50% of that resonance goes into the space, and 50% circulates within your body, resonating in your Chidākāśa. The sound you send into this space should be positive. Therefore, every day, try to chant your mantra loudly with your own melody. It does not matter if you sing a good melody or a beautiful melody. God loves equally. Consider how children speak; they do not speak very clearly. Yet we love their speaking and are so happy. Similarly, it does not matter how you speak the name of God. God is happy because God delights in your return to your origin, to eternal peace, happiness, joy, and light. God is working harder for you than you are working for yourself and for God. God loves you more than you love yourself and Him. Śrī Devpurījī, our Satgurū Dev, the Gurū of Mahāprabhujī, said that God takes upon Himself the destiny of the devotees. Gurū Dev takes upon himself the destiny of the devotee. Parents take upon themselves the mistakes of children, but they cannot take their destiny. However, Gurūdev, our God, can take the responsibility of the destiny. But you must change your destination to correct or protect yourself from a destiny that may be negative. Once you surrender to Gurūdev—meaning you give your confidence and devotion—then you have only one thing to concern yourself with: Practice. Gurūdev is the captain who will comfortably and safely bring our ship to the other shore. But if you jump out in the middle, that is not a mistake of the captain. Then you become breakfast for the sharks. Therefore, our beloved Holy Gurujī, Swāmī Mādhavānandajī, said in a beautiful bhajan: "Tērī sat-gururāke lāja cintā mat karnā, cintā mat karnā, nirbhaira honi saṅka kabhi mat darnā." "Tum Nirvaira Oni Shank Kabhi Mat Teri Satguru Rake Laj Chinta Mat Karna Tum Nirvaira Oni Shank Kabhi Mat Darna." --- Recording location: Czech Republic, Strilky, Summer seminar
