Be near to the Master

A spiritual discourse on purification, proximity to the Master, and correct inner attitude.

"I could very soon put that picture of yours in front of you, but I am sorry; I will not do it because of the international webcast."

"You should know that on the day you become that personality whom all should know, they will know you without you making yourself known."

The speaker addresses attendees, emphasizing self-purification and the supreme value of being physically near the Master to feel his energy. He advises that if physical proximity is impossible, one should meditate on the Gurudev's embodiment. He critiques those who meditate while harboring anger or disagreement, relaying a divine message about reciprocity, and concludes with teachings on earning recognition through the quality of one's being and work.

In human life, you must truly purify yourself. Never be angry, never be offended, never be sad. And what about you, girls and boys? That inner attitude of "I will not do anything" is your inner picture. I could very soon put that picture of yours in front of you, but I am sorry; I will not do it because of the international webcast. It is very important to be near the Master so you can feel that energy, so you can feel that atmosphere. That is why we are having a retreat. People are fighting to get a place. Lucky are they who can feel that energy, the smell, the atmosphere. So, if you are lucky enough—if your karma allows you, your destiny allows you, and you are a blessed one—you can come near to the Master. That is it. Only a bhakta knows what it means to be near. And if you cannot be physically near, then at least in meditation, imagine. Meditate on the embodiment of Gurudev. Then your vibration, your energy will unite with that energy. Every day, meditation in such a way is upliftment. But many are meditating and are angry at the Gurudev, thinking, "I don't understand him. I don't know why he did this. I don't agree with what he said, but I will practice the mantra: Oṃ Guru Dīp Guru Dīp Guru Dīp Guru Dīp Guru Dīp." They pray, "Moj Bože, Mahāprabhujī, please tell Swāmījī he should be kind to me." And what does Mahāprabhujī answer? "You should be kind to him, then he will be kind to you. What you want, you do it; don't expect from others." Confucius said, "If you want people to respect you, then first you should respect them." Do not be unhappy that people do not recognize your work. Instead, think in this way: perhaps your work is still not of the quality that should be recognized. Do not think that people do not know you; do not be unhappy. You should know that on the day you become that personality whom all should know, they will know you without you making yourself known. So just be. That is it. Try to be that one.
