The Eternal Witness and the Guru's Grace

The Guru’s grace and the eternal witness.

The Guru sees all disciples equally. The Guru knows a disciple’s trouble before it is spoken. The Guru comes when a pure heart remembers. Suffering does not disappear. Karmic laws and destiny rarely change. Pain may be reduced. Expecting rescue leads to blame when outcomes differ. The Guru works unseen on countless things. We do not see most of what is done for us. We offer all burdens to the Guru. The Guru must digest them. Not everything happens according to our will. The Guru says no when the time is not right. The Guru sees the future. The Guru sees through us. Trust and faith are necessary. The Guru’s aura makes us forget our questions. The Guru’s presence brings tears. The Guru’s reasons are beyond the human mind.

“The pain can be reduced. The inner and external sufferings may be reduced. But the karmic laws, the destiny which is there, that will not be changed most of the time.”

“Because he sees in and out. … when you enter the aura, the gurujī of the aura, you completely forget what you wanted, and he sees through you.”

Salutations to the Cosmic Self. Salutations to Śrī Alakhpurījī, Śrī Dīpit Paramparā. My Dhamma Praṇāms to our beloved Gurudev, His Holiness, Viśvaguru Mahāmaṇḍaleśvara Śrī Māheśvarānanda Purī Jī. And Haridvār, and Om Namaḥ Nārāyaṇ to all the sannyāsīs present here, and good evening to all of you who are here or watching through Swāmījī TV. Much love to all of you from beautiful Strilky Ashram, where we all are enjoying and figuring out many, many things. How many of us managed to figure out one thing in the past one and a half days? Something new, which you didn’t know about yourself. Okay, at least a few are working. Next time, more hands, please. We are working on questioning ourselves and trying to figure out answers from ourselves. And in the process of discovering ourselves, we need to question ourselves to know what we are doing, to know if we are aware of what we are doing. A few days already, we are talking about awareness. And if we are aware of things, then the things are much clearer. Prabhujī merī, avaguṇa, citana, dharo. Avaguṇa, we are full of avaguṇas. Guṇas are good qualities and avaguṇas are bad qualities. Gurudev, remove all the avaguṇas from me. Samadṛṣṭi, that means you have the same dṛṣṭi, you have the same way of seeing all the bhaktas. Samadṛṣṭi means that we look at all bhaktas in the same way, without any difference. Equality, compassion, no discrimination between bhaktas, no discrimination between anyone. Samadṛṣṭi. Please bless all the disciples with that same samadṛṣṭi, with the same way of observation. Because when there is a guru, when there is a saint, then they always have sama-dṛṣṭi. They always have the same way of dealing, same way of treating all disciples. We all have our own individual things that He is working with within us. But the example that Gurudev knows always what and how and what is happening with others is, if you remember, many of us experience, if something is happening, Gurudev used to call and already know before we even told him anything. Guru Dev, in each of us, works on something, and you know for sure such an example: when something bothers us, we solve something, and quite often Guru Dev calls us, even before we share it. Before Nirañjanjī built a wall, Swāmījī already said, "No, this is the wrong place for a wall." But that’s the care which He held for each and every one of us. That is the samādṛṣṭi, that He knows that His disciple is in trouble and He immediately is there for that disciple. No time for himself. Doesn’t matter if it’s day or night. Doesn’t matter what time, which place in the world, if someone with a pure heart remembers him, he comes to us. He comes because of the purity, He comes because of the bhāva, the feeling which we hold towards, in which way are we calling Him. Are you calling that energy, you are calling that Guru Tattva for doing some work for us, or just to have the presence and darśan? With awareness, the intention is also very necessary. It’s not a transaction. It is a way how a guru and disciple connect. But most of the time for us, many times it can become a type of transaction. And sometimes it goes to a very different extent. We need to understand one thing: that Gurudev is the one who saves us, who protects us, who can reduce the way of suffering, but suffering is there, it does not disappear. If something is happening and, Gurudev, we ask Gurudev, "Gurudev, please help my relative, help to do this, help to do that." The pain can be reduced. The inner and external sufferings may be reduced. But the karmic laws, the destiny which is there, that will not be changed most of the time. But in our head, we have that expectation that Gurudev will protect him or her, Gurudev will rescue him or her. And unfortunately, if something happens, we don’t see the back picture, that how much he might be working with that person. How much did he do to clear so many things, but if something happens, we immediately blame that, "Whole my life I was doing this and whole my life I was doing that, but I had one wish to do this and Swāmījī didn’t do this." But the hundred billion things which he has been doing in the background, which we do not see and which we don’t need to see, those things—what about them? And there is a very good reason why we don’t know half of the stuff that is happening with us, otherwise we would be living in a constant shock. And that’s one of us, and Gurudev has thousands of us to heal, fix, deal with, everything. Sometimes also think about this: how many problems, or how many thoughts, or how many negative things we are carrying in our minds. And how many of us push it all and say, "Guru Dev, here you go"? That is right, because tvaṁ eva mātā ca pitā tvaṁ eva, my happiness is yours, my sadness is yours, you give it to him, yes, but he also needs to digest it. So instead of us trying to see what goodness we are holding within us, instead of seeing what good He has done, we can’t just immediately go on that blame game that this didn’t happen and that didn’t happen. Not everything will always happen according to our will and wishes. Many times you have noticed with Swāmījī, you might want mantra or you wanted something, and you were asking maybe 10, 20 times. And one day, suddenly, out of the blue, very randomly, you get a mantra. Why? Because Gurudev knows at the time when he’s saying no that it’s not the right time. Why? Because we may think that, OK, we are prepared. Why? We think we can do anything that He tells us to do. We are more than capable enough, more than strong enough. But one perk of being Trikāl Darśī is you can see the future. It’s like an X-ray machine; you can see in and out of a person. That’s why what Charan Das Ji was telling in the morning about that six-foot, six-meter aura of Gurudev, that when you enter that, you forget why you came, what you want to talk to him. Because he sees in and out. To is what we mentioned in the morning, that when you enter the aura, the gurujī of the aura, you completely forget what you wanted, and he sees through you. How many times did it happen to us? We came to ask something to Swāmījī, and we either forget what we came to ask, or we start with the tears. So when he tells us something, or when something sounds very illogical to us or to our human mind, there are different causes and different reasons. For what and why he says things, but that trust and that faith is necessary for us to fully embody that. The trust and faith in Him is very important for us to fully understand it. Prabhu mīrī, mīrī, avaguṇa citana dharo, dṛṣṭi hīnamati haro. The problem now is that I still didn’t come to one tone, you know, I have this deep voice and then when I sing bhajan I start to go, "Avaguṇa Citana Dharo," and then sometimes it cracks in between. Why did Bhakti run away? Bhakti. Everyone close your eyes. Not you, Lana, not you, you play. Navasaptadaśaturnavapañcakośal navapāṇipādau nacopasapāyau Chidānandarūpa Śivoham Śiv Nāma Dveṣa Rāghava Nāma Lobha Mohav Nāmedhāva Nānevaiva Nāvaiva Mātsaryabhāva Na puṇyaṁ, na pāpaṁ, na saukhyaṁ, na duḥkhaṁ, na mantro, na tīrtho, na vedā, na yajñā. Na bandhor na mitraṁ gurur naiva śeṣyaś cidānanda rūpa Narubal Śivoham Śivoham. Keep your eyes closed and concentrate on that. Concentrate on the vibrations of... Just wanted to check if all is okay. Concentrate on the vibrations of the mantra, and feel the vibration of Aum. Pūrā Vibrat Si Om Together. Feel the vibration of the Auṃ still vibrating inside of us. The vibration of Aum was the first vibration in the creation of this world. And from that vibration, the universe was created. Tonight, do not meditate with your mind. We meditate with our heart. Keep your spine comfortably straight. Rest your hands in Chin Mudrā on your lap. Having your mālā in your hands, or sumiran, keeping your Guru Mantra and chanting it while meditating. Take one long and slow deep breath in, and gently breathe out. Again inhale, feeling the peace, and then exhaling. Everything that feels heavy, we are exhaling out. Once more breathe in, ještě jednou nádech. Feel the prāṇa-śakti going inside and going throughout the whole body. Breathe out. All the burdens and the worries and the toxic energies and the problems, exhaling. Now allow your breathing to become natural. Do not control it. Nekontrolujte to. Simply observe it. The breath is coming in. And the breath is going out. Ā vystupuje. No concentration. Simply be. Jednoduše sme. Simply be aware of you being there. Bring your awareness to the top of your head. Imagine a beautiful golden light descending from above. The light, filled with peace. Filled with compassion. So citam. Filled with harmony. Harmony. And filled with Guru Kṛpā. That light gently touches our foreheads. And all the stress, all the worries are going away. They’ve just faded away. Relax your eyes, the eyes that have seen a lot and enough. Let them just rest. Relax your cheeks. Relax your jaw. Relax your tongue, which makes a lot of noise. Relax your throat. Relax your shoulders that have been carrying so much weight. Place them down, at least for these few moments. You do not need to carry the whole world on your shoulders right now. Allow your arms to be completely relaxed. Your hands become soft. Your chest relaxes, and your heart is gently opening up. Relax your abdomen, your lower back, your hips, your thighs, your knees, your calves, your feet, and your toes. Now your entire body is relaxed, yet your mind remains awake. And now in your imagination, you are standing outside the meditation hall. It’s early in the morning, like it’s going to be tomorrow morning for Abhiṣek at 4:30. The air is fresh. You become lighter and lighter. Every step leaves behind another worry. Each step removes one tension. The noise of the world becomes calmer. The mind becomes calmer. Your entire being feels much lighter. You hear the birds singing. The beautiful sound of the river flowing. The fragrance of the pine trees in the beautiful Himālayas. The mountains appear in front of you, majestic, silent, timeless. They are the ones who watched the generations come and go. Kings have disappeared. Empires have vanished, but the Himalayas remained. The eternal witness to all. Now here, while walking, you suddenly hear a beautiful sound of the great Alaknandā river. The great Alaknandā river. Pure. Čistā. Crystal clear, like your hearts. The flow. Can you also trust? Can you allow life to flow with its divine will? The river whispers to you, "Do not resist. Surrender and flow." The ocean is already waiting for us. The river leads us to a narrow mountain valley. You slowly climb it. Higher. Higher and higher, the air becomes cooler, the silence becomes deeper, and ahead of you, you see a very ancient cave, simple, natural, śirozena, hidden from the world, yet filled with incredible peace and incredible love. Years of sādhanā and tapasyā in that cave. You remove your shoes. And you bow with gratitude, with humility, and we enter that cave. Inside the cave, everything is still. A golden light fills up that space. There is no lamp. Before you sits Mahāsiddhāvatār Śrī Alakhpurījī Mahārāj in deep meditation, radiant, peaceful, completely still. His presence is beyond the words. Do not analyze. Only experience. You slowly approach him. And with complete humility, you bow down to his divine lotus feet. We leave our confusion there. We leave everything that does not serve our spiritual path. Dhan, man, and dhan samarpit, that means we offer mind, soul, everything we are offering there. Śrī Alakhpurī Jī Mahārāj gently places his hands on our foreheads. No words are spoken. No words are spoken. But everything is understood. But everything is understood. A stream of bright golden light is shining from his hand. Into your head, into your heart, into every cell of your body, feel that divine light. It is removing all the fears, it is removing all the doubts, it is removing all the old pain. It is awakening courage, faith, compassion, harmony, unity, and inner strength. Bhagavān, Śrī Dīp Nārāyaṇ, Mahāprabhujī, Mahārāj, Holy Gurujī, Hindū Dharm Samrāṭ, Paramahaṃsa, Swāmī Śrī Mādhavānanda Purī Jī, Mahārāj, and our beloved Gurudev, His Holiness, Viśvaguru, Mahāmaṇḍaleśvar, Swāmī Maheśvarānanda Purī Jī, Mahārāj. The entire Guru Paramparā stands together in front of us. No separation. One light. One grace, one eternal current, each of the gurus is smiling, each of them is blessing us with their divine grace, and we realize the Guru Paramparā has already walked away. That the whole Guru Paramparā was connected to that light in us. Feel the energy of that divine light, of that divine blessing. Śrī Alakhpurījī Mahārāj is holding a small flame. Not an ordinary flame—the flame of knowledge, the flame of bhakti, the flame of self-realization, the flame of self-realization. He gently brings that flame near our heart. As it touches our heart, our entire being lights up. There is no burning, only warmth, only love, only peace. Repeat silently: I offer my life at the feet of the truth. Again, I offer my life at the feet of the truth, at the feet of dharma. And now, nothing needs to be said. Simply sit with the great masters of our paramparā. Allow the silence to teach us. Allow our hearts to open up and listen and accept. Om Śrī Alakh Nirañjanāya Namaha. Repeat after me. Om Śrī Alakh Nirañjanāya Namaha. Om Alakh Nirañjanāya Namaha. Om Alakh Nirañjanāya Namaha... Śrī Alakh Purī Jī Mahārāj is looking and smiling at us. The whole paramparā is raising their hands in blessing. We bow down once more and we slowly come out of the cave, walking back beside the banks of the river Alaknandā. Notice that the River is still flowing. The mountains are still standing. The cave is still there. Whenever your heart calls with purity and sincerity, you can return there. Take one deep breath in. Slowly become aware of your body. Become aware of your hands. Become aware of your feet. Become aware of the room which we are sitting in, in the hall. When you are ready, gently bring your palms together. Bow down your head to the paramparā. May the infinite blessings of Śrī Alakhpurījī and the Siddha Pīṭha Paramparā, may Viśvagurujī always guide us from darkness to light, from ignorance to wisdom, from the illusion of separation to the direct experience of the divine. May we be blessed, may we be happy, may we be in peace. May we have bhakti and may we have vairāgya. And slowly get up and open your eyes. Nāhaṁ Karatā Prabhu Dīp Karatā Mahāprabhudīp Karatā Śānti
