The Sun Shines in the Kingdom of God: On Habit, Mind, and the Kośas
2:05 - 2:56 (51 min)
Habit becomes your second nature. Our program purifies the body's impurities. The nourishment you consume shapes your mind and energy. The company you keep colors your habits. A repeated habit solidifies into your nature, like addiction, where the substance controls you. A story illustrates this: a man jumps into a river for a coat, but the coat—a bear—catches him. He cannot free himself. Similarly, bad habits trap you. You find time for them but not for good acts like meditation. The mind governs the five senses, taking impressions into the subconscious, creating lasting memories. The mind is a reflection, like your face in a mirror; you clean the mirror, but the spot is on your face. You must correct the source, not the reflection. The five sheaths (kośas) are layers around the soul: the physical body, energy, mind, intellect, and bliss. Attachment (mamatā) is the cause of suffering, a hook that catches you. To be free, give without expectation. Master your mind, habits, desires, and hopes to find liberation.
"Whatever kind of habit you have, after a while, that will become your nature."
"The mind is the reflection. Or in the pond, in the water pond, very nice, clean, and very still water. You look, and your face is inside. But it's only a reflection."

We should develop positive qualities
13:50 - 14:54 (64 min)
Perfection requires practice, not just theory. There are two types of masters: one who speaks and one who acts through dedicated practice. True meditation is not merely closing one's eyes; it requires the focused commitment of lagan, akin to love that overcomes all distance. On the path, many obstacles arise, serving as the best school. Do not seek glory from the crowd; true friends are few. Dharma—our duty and discipline—protects those who protect it. It manifests in relationships: between parent and child, husband and wife. Protection is mutual; safeguarding others safeguards yourself. Dharma, patience, a true friend, and a faithful partner are revealed in terrible times when all others oppose you. Without these, meditation is impossible due to mental disturbances, the vikāras: greed, insatiable desire, fickleness, and thievery of mind, word, and deed, including intellectual property. Stealing a master's teachings without acknowledgment creates bad karma. All true masters are connected like branches of one tree. Honesty and mercy are the roots of dharma; pride is the root of sin. Purify these first; then meditation can come.
"Tons of theory is nothing compared with a grain of practice."
"If you protect the dharma, the dharma will protect you."

A Divine Call and the Search for a True Guru
15:00 - 15:48 (48 min)
A divine call led to finding a true guru. In 1992, while ill, I was asked to make a milk pudding for a visiting saint. I refused. Then, Śrī Kṛṣṇa appeared in a vision asking for the pudding. After the fourth vision, I obeyed. At the gathering, the saint knew a stranger's name. I told him I was seeking a true guru. Later in India, guided to an ashram, I heard a spiritual phrase in my sleep. We then traveled to meet Holy Gurujī. Upon meeting, I was filled with overwhelming energy. He later gave me a book in Hindi, a language I claimed not to know, yet I could read it. I asked for mantra initiation. He initiated three of us using three apples we had. We left against his advice and faced travel difficulties. Upon returning, I was constantly moved to tears. I wrote to Gurujī, who lovingly invited me back. I returned to India and translated spiritual texts, a task for which I was granted the ability. I made several trips for service and devotion. In 2003, I visited a sick Gurujī. I experienced protective grace during a storm and once encountered a snake in my room.
"Swāmījī said, 'Hello, Rambai.' We were all shocked. How did Swāmījī know that person’s name?"
"He said, 'For a daughter to come to the father’s house, you don’t even have to get any permission. You can come whenever you want to come.'"

Build your intellect supportive
17:15 - 18:31 (76 min)
A clear aim is essential for spiritual progress, and a lack of clarity allows destructive influences to spoil your practice.
Your intellect disturbs you because your desire is not intense enough and your aim is not concrete. Without a clear goal, you are easily diverted by possibilities, like changing your destination based on radio advertisements. A definitive aim, like reaching a wedding, eliminates such distractions. Practical spiritual experience, not just theory, provides this unshakable clarity. Your intellect then becomes a helper, not an obstacle. You must avoid negative discussions, books, and societies that act like viruses in your consciousness. The human intellect is sensitive and can be steered by gossip and wrong impressions, which create negative mental patterns. These negative influences are like lemon in milk; they spoil your spiritual practice, which is built through sādhanā, mantras, and positive living. Once spoiled, this spiritual "milk" is nearly impossible to restore. Jealousy is a primary destructive force, a karmic illness manifesting in personal, spiritual, and even economic realms. It fuels the spreading of negative rumors, a modern weapon. The story of Nārada illustrates how jealousy and gossip can create doubt and sever even divine relationships, requiring great effort to mend. Therefore, be humble, avoid negative company, and protect your spiritual progress by guarding your thoughts and words.
"Your aim should be clear. Nothing can change me. The sun and moon can change their direction, but I will not change my direction."
"One stupid thought, one stupid person can destroy all your spiritual sādhanā, which you made years and years long with great confidence and with great love."
