The Ātman, or true Self, is pure, immortal, and entirely distinct from the transient physical body. Knowledge of the Self is unchanging, pure, and limitless, unlike the body which is born, changes, and dies. The body is a bundle of qualities, defects, and desires, while the Ātman is without qualities, eternal, and blissful. Do not mistakenly identify with the body or compare the Self to it, as this causes suffering and ignorance. The body is a valuable instrument, but you are the witness within it. Realize your true nature as the Ātman, which is unified, sound, and consciousness itself. The goal is to become one with this awareness, achieving liberation from the cycle of identification and sorrow.
"Ātman itself is knowledge. The ātman is pure, immovable, unlimited, without beginning, end, or middle."
"How can it be, how is it that you do not recognize this Ātman?"
