The disciple often fails to recognize the Master's value while He is physically present. It is not given to everyone to understand their own master. Kuṇḍalinī Śakti profoundly affects human consciousness, which moves through three levels. The unconscious level holds dormant karmas from many past lives, carried like a hidden burden. Past life karmas lie dormant in the Mūlādhāra Chakra, termed the serpent power. Kuṇḍalinī awakening is not a physical sensation within the body; such sparks indicate disturbances. Concentration flows into meditation, which merges into superconsciousness. Do not perfect one limb before moving to another. They develop simultaneously from a single seed of practice. Modern life has broken our natural rhythm, diminishing our vitality. Practice, not mere theory, is essential. The Bhagavad Gītā speaks of a fundamental disorder, varṇa saṅkara, now seen in how we make things seedless and alter nature. Unnatural living and eating reduce our lifespan. Yoga is not a religion; it is older than all religions and is their source. It is a complete science of life and the balancing force of the universe. Modern technology requires control, like ancient yogic techniques. Yoga's global spread is a re-easternization, preserved by dedicated teachers. Human life is incomplete without yoga, which leads to health, happiness, peace, and the Self. Missionary work and conversion, however, create conflict and hinder peace. The mind is uneducated and destroys spiritual progress. Yogis and yatis labor for years to cultivate an inner garden through sadhana and bhajan, meaning all spiritual practice and effort dedicated to God. Yet the monkey mind can ruin this garden in moments through emotional explosiveness, which darkens the intellect and leads to harmful actions. This destructive power is a hidden tendency within. The teaching to turn the other cheek is a method to de-escalate conflict and prevent this inner destruction by calming the other's emotions, thereby protecting one's spiritual work. Bhajan is the supreme path for understanding God and oneself. It is the soul's call, the sole support in this age for crossing worldly existence. Within resides a lonely, longing being seeking not to be loved, but to love—a screen for projecting inner feelings. This inner film is your reality, expressing your consciousness. Yet it cannot become the outer world shared by all. It is difficult to shape the common world to match your private inner world. Attempting this brings suffering, for the inner world is changeable. One must instead correct and change the inner world. Worldly pursuits are like toys, providing temporary happiness before one seeks another. Even turning to God can become such a transient toy. One ultimately searches for the permanent, found through the Master and satsaṅg, realizing everlasting bliss. However, the inner self keeps changing, so problems may return. Ensure your foundation and remain steadfast upon it. You will find what you truly seek, whether in this life or another. This full moon is Rakṣābandhan, a festival of protection and love between siblings. Rakṣā means protection, and Bandhan means to tie. It is the sister's day, celebrating the brother's duty to protect and support her. The tradition originates from a story where a woman tied a thread of love on a king's wrist, establishing a sacred sibling bond. This act created a day for honoring all village relationships as brother and sister, fostering social harmony. You have a duty to your real siblings, and you may also adopt spiritual brothers and sisters. This bond, once established as sibling love, is permanent and should not be redefined into a marital relationship. The same principle applies within spiritual families: disciples of one master are guru-siblings, a divine relationship transcending worldly ties like marriage. Mantra practice awakens the power of will, where wishes can manifest. This power requires purification and careful consideration of consequences. Desiring supernatural abilities leads to profound suffering, as illustrated by tales of a golden touch that destroys all contact and levitation that prevents rest. The ability to know others' thoughts would bring unbearable unhappiness. Siddhis become illusions that bind one deeper than worldly attachments. Utilizing such powers creates karmic bondage. Fear governs all life and must be overcome. Fear is the root of all worldly problems, present in every creature. It controls everything through the fear of loss—of position, money, relationships, and ultimately death. Fear is rooted in desire and personal longing. We constantly petition God from a place of desire, yet forget Him when our desires are fulfilled. If we meet God, we may not recognize Him due to our preoccupations. Life is a river, and what appears desirable within it can be a dangerous trap. A man sees a coat floating and, confident in his strength, swims out to claim it. The coat is a bear that seizes him. His friend calls for him to abandon it, but he cannot escape. This river is the flow of existence. The alluring coat is a drug. One seeks to take it, but it takes you, destroying life, relationships, and potential. Addiction creates misery, leading to deeper use to forget disappointment. Alcohol is such a drug. Avoid anything that can enter through the skin, for the body must remain whole and undamaged. A wounded body, like a cracked vessel, loses its completeness. When the five sheaths are healthy, the inner self is felt. Bad habits, once formed, become a second nature that isolates you. Divine nature is kindness and awareness; do not let habit obscure it. Sarasvatī is the essential goddess for all students and practitioners of knowledge. Pray to her for success in written and oral examinations, asking her to reside in your pen and on your tongue. She should dwell in the heart and the Āgyā Chakra. Some may feel spiritual figures are always portrayed as male, but even men cannot succeed without Sarasvatī. She is the goddess for anyone speaking, singing, or writing, honored immediately after Gaṇeśa. Gaṇeśa represents the intellect and is swift and protective. Sarasvatī is the wisdom and light of that intellect; you must trust your intellect, as it is your protection. Sarasvatī is a great divine being, the equal companion of Brahmā the creator, just as Lakṣmī is with Viṣṇu and Pārvatī with Śiva. They are the same, not one superior to the other. The practice of mantra writing is Akṣar Brahma, where the alphabet transmits the highest reality. Write your mantra daily without time restriction, but with great care, not carelessness. Your writing is the physical form of your thoughts; it holds immense power to affect humanity. Therefore, one must pray that the hand is merely an instrument for what is real to be written. Traditionally, great writers attributed their work to destiny, not themselves, and sought forgiveness for any unintended harm. The pen, or Kalam, is considered the world's most powerful force, which we now call the media—the movement of the pen. The principle remains the same whether using a pen or a computer. "Please let my body and my hand be only an instrument. You, Lord, should write what is real, what is to be written." "It is not I who wrote this, but only my pen, which was inspired by destiny." The origin of all creation is the sound Oṁ. Two powers exist: the negative and the positive. The quest is to weaken the negative and strengthen the positive. Physical, mental, and willpower are insufficient; strength must come from the spiritual source. This source is the creative sound. Techniques were discovered to access this power. Words hold immense creative and destructive force, as seen in human language. Every word is a potential mantra, capable of causing happiness or deep wounding. A blessing is a mantra of positive power originating from the heart and spiritual knowledge. "Every single word has such a huge power and so much meaning that we could talk about it for years." A human can be medicine for another. My early teaching involved a diplomat's wife who brought candies, declaring a miracle: after three weeks of yoga, her husband changed positively. I was happy for her, but in reality, she had changed, becoming calm instead of hectic. This illustrates "Be the change you want to see," which applies in all life aspects, including for partners. I wish for you a good person for mutual happiness. People endure stressful work and harsh words for money, which in this age is treated as God. From this dispiriting struggle, you return home yearning for a nest with kind words, a sweet smile, and understanding—a human heart. A partner is not solely for sexual life, which may be the least priority; you need understanding for a happy life. Those home hours should bring immense energy, happiness, confidence, and love, enabling better work and happiness the next day. This defines true partnership or family relationship. The search for God is a search conducted by ignorance, for no separation exists. We have lost the divine reality, though it is our own true nature. To speak of this is considered madness by a world intoxicated by attachment. This intoxication, like a drug placed in a village well, clouds the perception of all. It creates a false sense of separation and qualities that obscure the truth. Removing this attachment reveals the underlying reality. The search ends when the intoxication ceases. The universe is endless, and to know it, you must merge with it. Creation encompasses all that exists within boundless space. The individual is limited, while the absolute is limitless. To comprehend this infinity, one must fully immerse oneself within it, just as a salt statue dissolves in the ocean to know its depth. The seeker who dives into this endless reality becomes one with it and does not return separately. This ultimate reality is without form, color, or end. It is the fundamental womb of all consciousness. "To this day, it has not returned. What happened? The statue, being made of salt, melted." The world's changing nature makes it ultimately unreal, while the unchanging essence within all is the only true reality. Brahman, the everlasting truth, is equally present everywhere, like the sky. What is born or created has limitation and will end; therefore, the changeable is unreal. This essence within you, me, and every atom is unborn and will not die. Individual qualities define a person as a thief, saint, or criminal, but the inner essence remains the Supreme. The space in a hall is permanent, but the hall itself will be removed, illustrating the changing nature of all things. Yesterday is now like a dream; you cannot make the past present. Keep nourishing memories and forget terrorizing ones. Concentrate on your spiritual practice in the time that remains. Do not dwell on meals or comfort. Time is great, not man, and destiny is shaped by karma, so we must be mindful at every step. "Brahma satya, jagat mithyā." The path to inner peace is the only true destination. All beings seek happiness in finding what they desire. Since creation began, a peaceful space has been missing, leading to countless conferences on peace. Collective peace is ideal, but individuals must first find peace within themselves. This highest peace is realized only upon attaining liberation. Liberation cannot be granted, bought, or achieved through material power; it is an individual, inner possibility. The decision rests with you. Neglecting or performing your spiritual practice is your own matter. Purifying consciousness is essential, as negative emotions like jealousy and anger only destroy oneself. Do not take on the extra problems of others. Theory alone is insufficient; a gram of practice is vital. Lasting peace is found when individual consciousness merges into cosmic consciousness. "Shānti is needed in the whole universe." Yoga is perfected through Karma Yoga. The Bhagavad Gītā is the best book of yoga, structured by Kṛṣṇa into eighteen chapters. To understand it, you need a good translation; the best comes from the saint Jñāneśvara. He demonstrated true power, unlike false ascetics who perform tricks. For instance, the yogī Nāmadeva rode a real tiger. Jñāneśvara, even as a boy, showed greater mastery by making a wall move. Such saints sustain the earth. There are two types of knowledge: Aparā Vidyā is mere book learning and speech, while Parā Vidyā is knowing reality. A true teacher speaks from an inner, endless source of wisdom, not from a limited, pre-written script. You should read the Gītā through Jñāneśvara's commentary to understand yoga. "There is Aparā Vidyā and Parā Vidyā—Vācharṭī and Lakṣharṭī." "On the day you think you will speak, it is limited—like stored water in a tank. Oṃ is the fundamental sound from which all creation emerges. The entire universe is a manifestation of this resonance. It is present in birdsong, wind, flowing water, and the deepest reaches of space as the sound of the divine heart. Every atom and organ within the body possesses its own functional sound. Therefore, all existence is sound, and the supreme reality is this sound. In meditation, one transcends the ten sensory sounds to perceive the eleventh: the sound of the Self, which is Oṃ. This sound is omnipresent, heard in thunder, the earth, trees, and the ocean. Since sound is everywhere, divine presence is everywhere. To experientially realize this omnipresent reality, one must first purify the mental impurities of Mala, Vikṣepa, and Āvaraṇa that separate individual from cosmic consciousness. Achieving this state through samādhi makes all worldly pleasures tasteless by comparison, revealing the joy of Brahman within the heart, which is Oṃ. "Everything in this universe that you can see is created out of that one sound, and that is Oṃ." "Where is there no sound? Everywhere is sound. So where is there no God? Everywhere is God." Today is the day of Śrī Gaṇeśa, the remover of obstacles and giver of joy. He is the protector and the lord of intellect, removing ignorance and karmic obstacles. One must remember Gaṇeśa first when beginning any new endeavor, as His presence ensures success. He should be honored first in satsaṅg and bhajan. A story illustrates that neglecting Gaṇeśa leads to loss. Gaṇeśa is also for health. He requested not to be placed near shoes at an entrance, as He is sensitive to smell and deserves a pure, holy place. Remembering Gaṇeśa brings pure, divine thoughts and removes sin. The first bhajan is always for Gaṇeśa. Singing His mantra ensures success, such as in examinations. There is one God in all forms. "When Lord Gaṇeśa is there, then success is there definitely, a thousand million times, be sure." "Tell your people: do not place me there as a guard for the shoes. I am not a guard for their shoes." Vikāra and Nirvikāra are opposing states of being. Vikāra is impurity, decay, and illness, manifesting as mental pollution through negative thoughts, jealousy, and hatred. This mental pollution is the root cause of all worldly destruction, from environmental harm to wars. It originates in the dualistic mind, beginning with concepts like "my" and "our," and is reinforced by bad company. The remedy is disciplined meditation and mantra practice, such as repeating "Deep Niranjan Sabadukabanya," to purify these deep-seated impurities. Vikāra infects feelings, thoughts, speech, and actions, spreading like a powerful bacteria and creating borders of fanaticism in the human mind. The goal is to transcend all such states, including happiness and fear, to attain the pure, harmonious state of Nirvikāra. The path requires purifying the inner impurities of desire, anger, pride, greed, and delusion. These are called best friends but lead to suffering. You alone must overcome them; freedom from them is divinity. Replace action with equal love for all. Purify anger through compassion and forgiveness. Purify greed through inner renunciation and sacrifice. Purify pride through humbleness and selfless service, as jealousy blocks grace. Purify delusion by accepting what comes through destiny, as emotional complexes cause physical illness. This ashram provides the chance for inner practice among harmonious companions. The whole world is unhappy in relationships. Everyone has problems. A great saint once went onto his roof and saw every house had quarreling. Every lady was complaining to her husband about various failings. He concluded the entire world is unhappy. Therefore, you must remain where you are. Stay with your wife or husband of many years. Be happy as it is. Even if there is anger, be sure in your heart that love exists. New attractions are not worthwhile; they are like unhealthy ketchup that cannot fill you. Do not begin new problems. It is our own mind that creates problems. We talk of harmony, so show you are a happy couple or a happy single. Try harder to understand your partner. "Nānaka dukhya sab sansār. The body ages, but the mind and feelings do not. Dying is not easy. The psychic state of a person facing death is often terrible, filled with fear and the inner pain of existential questions. Therefore, one should stay with the dying as long as possible so they do not feel alone. We theoretically know the body is mortal, like a change of clothes, yet this is hard to accept. No one can ultimately help, not even God if asked. We can only pray for a gentle passage from material consciousness, as smooth as falling asleep or entering a dream. The sincere wish is to leave this world while chanting the divine name. "O Lord, what will be with me? How will it be with me?" This creates a "throw-away society" that destroys the environment. Yet, some technological concepts, like telephony, are sustainable in their enduring purpose. True sustainability is found in nature, which maintains itself. The aim is a sustainable humanity, achieving harmony in body, mind, and soul.
